Daintree Rainforest Visit

Very enjoyable tour. Good tour size (circa. 23 people), tour guide (Orion) was knowledgeable, local and personable, able to offer lots of additional tidbits and information. Mossman Gorge was beautiful and the Daintree River Cruise was interesting (the boat used looked disconcertingly similar to the boat on the Jaws theme park ride at universal studios). Only reason it isn't 5 star is there was a lot of driving, which couldn't really be helped given the distances involved

Spectacular Day

This is an excellent tour if somewhat a long day, much on a bus because of the necessary distance covered. Oscar, our knowledgeable guide and driver made the day so enjoyable with loads of interesting information. He had to navigate many narrowed roads where landslides occurred after Cyclone Jasper. Mossman Gorge indigenous experience was one of the highlights for me: a great privilege to receive helpful healing information. This was my third visit here and it always feels very special. The Daintree is always magnificent and the relaxing croc spotting “cruise “ a worthwhile addition. Thornton’s Beach is a vast expanse of sandy beach; it was a welcome relief to take a brisk walk after sitting for some time. My salad lunch was deliciously healthy. And the icecream combo an our return was some of the best I’ve tasted.

New Love

Our guide, Clinton, was knowledgeable and engaging. We loved our day and all of the experiences. He gave us information about the local culture and allowed me to ask many questions. I came away with a deeper love of the Kuku Yalenji people and the Daintree Rainforest. I left part of my heart in the rainforest and hope to return soon.

We had the best day, saw everything we wanted to and ate delicious ice cream! John (our tour guide) was a champ, and the croc spotting Daintree river cruise was the highlight of the entire holiday!

Wonderful trip.

Great day, really liked the Mossman Gorge, the cruise on the Daintree River and of course Thorton's Beach. Clinton and Cam were excellent guides and drivers. Definitely worth doing.

Backpacker Mossman

¡ For BACKPACKERS ! Hi everyone, I used to live at Mossman Backpackers and trust me you need to have look, pool / kitchen / space / cinema room and much more, that's great ! Highly recommend!

Avoid this tour if you value your spiritual freedom and personal boundaries.

My trip ended very badly with a visit to Mossman Gorge, where we were forced to participate in a religious ritual to enter. The tour guide insisted repeatedly that we join a smoke ritual for the gods of the area, as stated by the ritual practitioner, otherwise, we wouldn't be allowed to enter the gorge, as stated by the tour guide. This wasn’t just about observing; we had to actively participate in the smoke ritual. Going through this caused me significant distress and violated my personal boundaries and spiritual freedoms, leaving me with lasting negative feelings. I'm writing this review almost a year later. I’ve visited various religious sites worldwide, including muslim mosques, christian and catholic churches, and hindu and buddhist temples, and have never been forced to join in their rituals. If I had known, I wouldn’t have joined the Active Tropics Explorer tour. It was a terrible experience and ruined my visit to Cairns. I strongly advise others to avoid this tour if they value their spiritual freedom and personal boundaries. I hope this changes cause Cairns is an beautiful area. I didn't expect to suffer this type of experiences in Australia.

Daintree Rainforest Tour 👌👌👌

A great Sydney trip.

A really great day with so many diverse things to see - the key to the day was the tour guide "John" who was humorous, very patient, knowledgeable, informative and looked after all of us like a good tour guide should. Well done John you were amazing!!!

The welcome to country was really great. Loved hearing the background of the Daintree. The falls are beautiful, if warm enough take your bathers.

Awareness and love of Australia

I love the wet tropical rainforest and aboriginal customs. I enjoyed the trip and learnt a lot knowledge during the trip.

We had a great time on this tour exploring the various stops and learning a bit of knowledge / history along the way. Tour guide kept the long time on the road interesting. Highlight of the day was the river cruise where we could see a couple crocs in the wild.

Phenomenal experience

Words cannot capture how incredible this trip is! It's a long day with early start, but what you see and do is amazing. I was worried I might not be able to access everything due to physical health problems but I needn't have worried as the team make it accessible to all and are very friendly and kind. The Smoke Ceremony was a lovely introduction. Keep your eyes peeled on this trip as you never know what you'll see.

had a wonderful day traveling solo on this tour. john was a kind, thorough guide who made sure we each had a great experience. particularly enjoyed meeting our guide tom at mossman gorge to learn a little more about the area. lots of to do jam packed in one day but i loved it!

I highly recommend doing this tour! The whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable and Benedict was an amazing guide! He was knowledgeable and friendly, and gave lots of good information along the way. The Welcome to Country was a really special aspect and all the stops along the way were an added bonus! The van was comfortable and the hotel pickup was super convenient. Highly recommend!!

Awesome tour! Bring swim clothes and towel!

Overall an awesome tour! I wish the booking page made users more aware that there was an opportunity to swim. Had I known I would have brought a towel and swim trunks. Otherwise, the tour was nice and I enjoyed the itinerary.

Worth doing

Too many things on one day but I was very glad to experience it. Our guide was good and I thought that it was a unique experience.

It was okay!

It was neither bad nor great. I wished for a longer guided walk in the Daintree Forest and more time on the beach. The bus was comfortable, but the food was pretty average.

A amazing and enjoyable day . The two Clinton’s (Tour Guides) were exceptional. Will take my daughters back next time with the same company . Had the privilege of seeing a Boyd’s forest dragon at the Mossman Gorge, a saltwater crocodile called Scarface and a Cassowary! Awesome

Great value for money & a must do trip for visitors

No Cape trib due to Cyclone Jasper. Great trip, Roger was a fab guide, really dry sense of humour, professional & kept us on track! Highlights: the welcome ceremony & Thornton beach, & a privilege to see the rainforest & Daintree gorge. We saw crocs, bright blue butterflies, bush turkeys & the golden orb spiders!!

Good day with some hickups

Mossmann George was absolutely amazing. A pity we were not able to swim due to tree logging. The time was a bit short as well, I would have loved to do at least the short circuit walk. Due to the cyclone damage we couldn't go till Cape Tribulation but saw a beach where the rainforest meets the sea. Worth doing this trip for getting a good overview of the region.

Mossman gorge is one of...

Mossman gorge is one of the most beautiful breath taking places I've visited. The visit to the area was way too short. You should allocated more time to experience and explore the area.

Our guide John was pretty awful he even said he was sick of this job and pushed and shoved us all day and told us to hurry up and didn’t enjoy any of his time with the paying customers Don’t get me started on the driving !!! It was just rush rush all day I found his commentary boaring and when he said look on your left you could t see anything because he was driving too fast I thought we had a tour guide of the Mossman gorge and Daintree forest ?? Well after talking about a tree for 5 minutes he left us all at the first platform and said be back at the bus in 30 min !! The choice of lunch was rubbish Cheese burger and chips or 3 other burgers with chips or deep fried cauliflower with salad Paying over $200 per person I expected more than a deep fried chicken burger and chips we didn’t realise we had to tick off to say we wanted a capiccino at Mossman gorge he went mad because we would make him 5 min late and even said take my coffee we don’t have time to wait !! The things we saw were amazing but the company we chose was not worth over $200 each that we paid

A Day of Adventure.

Amazing trip with wonderful itinerary! We have been on many tours and Damien has for sure been the best tour guide we’ve come across. He was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about everything and very much had Steve Irwin energy! Would definitely recommend.

We were picked up at our hotel which was nice. Our tour guide was very good. He was from the area and shared his passion with us. Loved the music he played overhead. All of the stops were interesting and everything stayed on time. A good but long day.

Swimming in Mossman Gorge...

Swimming in Mossman Gorge was really fun. The ice cream in the ice cream shop was really tasty. I recommend having the soursop flavour.

Great trip

A long day but very enjoyable. Our guide, Oscar, was excellent. The right amount of time was allotted for everything. We were lucky enough to see three crocodiles and a rarely seen cassowary

Well worth the money!!

The cape tribulation, Mossman gorge, Daintree rainforest tour was amazing and well worth the money. From a swim at the Mossman gorge and a walk along the board walks and suspension bridge, the views were spectacular. Lunch was also included and we even got to stop for ice cream. The whole drive we had commentary from our guide Oscar who was a font of knowledge and very entertaining. Great day had by all.

roger was a very knowledgeable guide. We had a wonderful day at Daintree forest and on the cruise. We saw amazing wildlife. Port Douglas was breathtaking

Big day but you see a lot

It was a great tour. The driver (Roger) was very knowledgeable. Mossman Gorge was fantastic well worth seeing. Daintree Hotel was great place for our lunch stop. The river cruise was great, lucky to see a couple of crocodiles. My only complaint would be that it is a long day. Maybe take out the ice cream stop and Thornton Beach. But it was still a great day.

Fantastic tour

The trip was incredible! The location is beautiful and incredibly unique, but the true highlight of the trip was the tour guide! Carlos was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging and couldn’t be any better at what he does! Would highly recommend this trip to anyone in the area!

Average experience

I was a bit disappointed to find out that some of other tours were going to cape tabulation after I had booked the tour with them. The tour claims that they still could not go to cape tabulation instead we spend some time at Thornton beach. It was a big tour group, and the tour was very functional and matter of fact aka impersonal.

Stunning Rainforrest and coastal trip

What an amazing trip north of Cairns to explore the magnificent Daintree rainforest, allegedly David Attenboroghs' favourite place on earth, as well as Port Douglass and Mossman Gorge. A group of 25 travellers set off in the bus with our guide, Brendan. He provided a fun and informative commentary throughout the trip, both on board and at the various stops. A good but basic pub lunch was provided, as well as the opportunity to taste local ice cream with tropical flavours. Highlights were the crocodile spotting cruse (we saw 3), rainforest board walk, the Mossman Gorge indigenous centre including 'welcome to country' and a refreshing swim in the Mossman river. We left Cairns a 7.30am and didn't return until 7.30pm, so be prepared for a long day. Of the 12-hours, about 8-hrs were in the bus in stints of 40 to 90 mins and remaining 4-hours were at the various attractions on the very good itinerary. A thoroughly enjoyable and informative day visiting one of the oldest and most diverse ecosystems on the planet. Highly recommended.

An enjoyable experience

I did the daintree rainforest and cape tribulation trip with the river cruise. There is a lot of bus travelling time but it is worth doing for the experience. I was disappointed with the lunch that was included as it was cold and dried out by the time we got there. Overall ,it was a very positive experience. A tip would be to bring an umbrella with you as I went unprepared and there was lots of rain.
