MUST SEE & DO at Augusta - Jewel Cave is exactly that!

This was the most amazing experience I have ever had. DIGBY our tour guide was exceptional, his knowledge and enthusiasm was next level! I was not expecting to learn so much and be so fascinated by a cave tour. If you are in WA this is a MUST DO. Thanks to Digby for making our time so enjoyable. :)

beautiful breath taking

Wow these caves must be seen to believe there beauty. There are a lot of stairs to go down but coming up wasnt to bad as there are flat platforms which break up the journey.Very informative guide well worth going.

A whole family experience to remember

We had such an amazing tour with Murray. We couldn’t believe how beautiful the caves were and how fascinating the tour was. Murray was amazing at keeping the kids interested with his humor and kept the whole experience interesting and enjoyable. We’d like to come back soon with extended family. A great whole family day out.

Amazing

It is amazing to experience the history of the earth as seen underground. Our guide was very knowledgable and helpful. He had answers to every question that was asked of him. He was very kind and careful with each of us as we navigated through the cave safely.

A must visit cave when you’re at Margaret River

It’s a great place to learn about how caves were formed. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny too. Great job guys.

Natures underground delight

What an amazing revelation underground. Having found myself with the afternoon free from my originals plans I needed to find something to do. Jewel cave won the battle and I am so happy to have ventured underground to view the wonders under the surface. Great tour, informative and the formations speak for themselves. If you are thinking of doing this tour I recommend it for sure.

Very interesting deep cave

Very good and interesting tour of Jewel Cave with Josh. The stalagmites and stalagtite formations are amazing and it was interesting to see the tree roots coming through the caves as well. Our group size was quite big(29), maximum 35 - I would prefer a smaller group.

Fantastic tour. Jodie our guide was amazing. Informative, funny and very knowledgeable. It was truely magnificent below ground. Well worth the cost . Highly recommend.

Spectacular place to visit

Spectacular cave! Passionate and knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend making this one of the caves you visit. Lots of stairs but not difficult as regularly stopped on platforms to look at and learn about particular points of interest.

Largest cave to visit in WA

We were amazed at the sheer size of this cave. The set up allowing us to walk easily through this huge cave was great. It was incredible to think that the first explorers of the cave abseiled through a hole in the roof into pitch black with only a candlelight to see the majestic inside. Such a shame the water has dried up over 30 years ago - maybe one day in the future the water will return. Well worth a visit.

Awesome experience

We have toured a few caves in our travels but Jewel cave is truly the best we have seen. The cave is awesome with something to see everywhere you look and a wide range of different formations. Our tour guide, Josh, was fantastic. Our tour group was quite large and Josh conducted the tour with professionalism and humour. He was very knowledgeable about the topic and had a great rapport with the whole group when showing us through the cave. It was money well spent. Thanks Josh for an awesome experience.

Unforgettable

Beautiful experience from beginning to end with fantastic staff and tour guide. At the end of the tour when we opted to turn all the lights off it was magical.

Gem of a cave

Jewel cave is an absolute gem (sorry about pun 😂). We have visited this part of WA previously but never visited any of the caves so thought it was time we did. The guide was very knowledgeable and took questions from the tour party which she answered well. We concerned about the possibility of claustrophobia but was not an issue. Some of the ladder climbs are steep so a degree of fitness is needed. The caves themselves are a wonder and the turning off of the lights gave a glimpse of how dark it can really get.

The Jewel Cave did not disappoint - in fact it impressed us. Our guide, Scarlet, was excellent. She struck the right balance between facts and fun. Highly recommend this adventure.

Pristine cave full of surprises

We did this cave tour this morning. Incredible cave discovered about 70 years ago. Well protected and therefore no damage by humans. The whole experience was fantastic and made even more fun by our lovely guide Nick. Well worth doing!

Put this on your bucket list

Definitely worth the 250 steps, they were manageable and easy enough. The guide, Justin (sorry if I got your name wrong) was interesting, well informed and funny. Such an awe inspiring jewel. It’s a must see.

As a family of 5, we loved the cave. The tour guide was so good. We took so many pictures. So much information. The shop had awesome things to buy. The staff were all so lovely. Well do it again even try explore some others next time we’re down. Everything was neat and clean and well cared for. Highly highly recommend.

Going inside the...

Going inside the underground itself is a huge experience for us.and at the same time it was scary as well. We even had a fixed feelings that what if the cave collapsed and we were caught inside.Nevertheless,it’s so wonderful and I am definitely going to recommend to my friends.

The Jewel in the crown

Loved the expanse of the main chamber some 30metres high and while this is basically a dry cave, represents a frozen moment in time that took 500,000 years to reach. I’ve been to a number of caves but this is my fav. We love trees, so the stalagmites that look like Karri trees were a standout for us. This cave has a crazy density to some formations which to me hints of some areas of greater moisture than others during that building phase. Loved it all.

Unbelievable!

Guide was personable, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. The tour was well-paced and well-thought out. Cave is in pristine condition and so much more extensive than others we have toured.

Wow, dont miss this one.

Jewel Cave is the largest cave system in South West Australia. It is managed by the Capes Foundation, a not for profit organisation that manages several other attractions and caves in the area, superbly. The tour runs on the hour, and takes an hour. While much of the cave system is immense, there are a lot of steps up and down, and some places might be a little claustrophobic. Personally, I was blown away by it. Stalagmites and tites, straws, calcite waterfalls, roots from the ceiling and a custom light show all add to the wonder, we had Gary as our guide and he did a fantastic job of telling the stories (amongst other things they found the remains and paw prints of a Thylacine (Tasy Tiger) that fell into the cave and wandered the darkness trying to get out) and setting the scenes for the wonders of the 3 cave system.

Massive cool cave!

Another hot day in WA so exploring a cave was a great idea. This cave is massive and has lots to see. Also, lots of stairs so be prepared for a bit of huffing and puffing. The tour guide was great - takes about an hour in the cave. I would recommend booking in advance.

Amazing structures

Amazing natural calcite formations of different shapes, sizes, colour. Our guide was very knowledgeable who explained and answered questions in great detail.

We had a very large tour group but the tour guide was great at managing the crowd. The tour was informative and the features in the cave were beautiful!

Fabulous!

What a fabulous tour this was. Our guide was so good with so much information about the caves and great stories too. The caves are incredible, they're huge with so many different types of Stalactites and stalagmites. Definitely worth a visit. The Cafe and gift shop are worth going to ascertain well.

Not Impressive!

Not well lid up. Be aware that I was asked not to extend my insta360 camera monopod at all time. No nice photos to bring back and promote the site.

Well spent hour in the cool

Nice tour, engaging guide. Not the biggest cave I've been to, but a good variety of formations. Tour lasted about an hour, which was appropriate. You need to be prepared for steps, there are many and they are narrow and steep. Some low ceilings in the pathways. No drips. Small cafe and gift shop. We walked in, but at busier times you should probably book ahead.

What a cool underground experience.

What a site to see. Lily was a passionate tour guide, imparting her knowledge on crystal formations & the history of the cave. It was quickest hour spent. Highly recommended visiting this young historic site.

Amazing experience at Jewel Cave

Some of the most memorable part of the tour was just how much better the tour was with our tour guide Josh. He really made the experience of Jewel Cave so much better. I really enjoyed how it didn’t sound so scripted which made it much more engaging.

super cave, care with café

super caves, excellent guide. recommended. NB if visiting café, service was very slow. For coffee & cake we needed 20+ minutes; nearly missed our cave tour depart time.

Just magnificent

What an exceptional experience. The caves are really beautiful to walk through and the knowledge the guide provided (apologies I forgot his name there was so much to think about) was brilliant. The hour passed by to quickly and the best experience so far in our trip to Oz. Would really recommend doing this trip if you like nature at it’s best.

Absolutely beautiful and brilliant, friendly staff :) definately recommend going. The pool was so beautiful and so was the beach and the grounds. Definately going again.

Jewel Cave - definitely a jewel of our trip

Drove from Margaret River down the Caves Road. Beautiful winding road approx 45 mins from our villa on Prevelley Beach. Arrived just in time for the 9.30 tour. Lovely cafe and clean starting point for our tour. Guides were super friendly and informative. Once we started we were enthralled from the first moment. A word of warning, there are lots of steps (250, I think). There are very good handrails on both sides of the steps to help you out though. The climb down and up is so worth the effort. The cave is spectacular, I can’t think what other word describes it better. Definitely a must see if you are over the sth wet corner of Aus. Again it is a guided tour so you get to learn how it all formed millions of years ago.
