Great time with Nellie in Budapest

We had a great stay in Budapest. It was highlighted by spending two days with Nellie. We were a group of five friends, all first-timers to Hungary, and we booked both the tour of the city for one day and the food tour for another. Nellie is a local but also a cosmopolitan person who can connect with her guests wonderfully well. She had great insights about Hungarian history, culture, food. We walked a lot, took the bus, walked the market, had great food. Overall, we felt welcomed and enjoyed the experience of a Budapest introduction, leaving plenty of room for future visits. We definitely highly recommend this personal experience.

Best day in Budapest!

Nelli was an awesome guide who basically showed us around the whole city in 4 hours. We chose to do the tour on our first day in Budapest and had a good overview of what would be cool to be explored in the following days after the tour. A couple of weeks before our tour she specifically asked us about the areas we were interested in, so we mainly visited the Jewish quarters and the Budapest castle area with her. She had a vast knowledge about various topics, including the history of the city, the Jewish history of the city, great places to eat and have a cocktail and was able to answer any question we might have had. Would absolutely recommend!

Best views and person to see them with.

Nelli was terrific! By the end of our day we felt we had a new friend for life. We are older so a bit slower but Nelli was so understanding and made sure we saw the places we wanted to see at our own pace. She took photos of us in various places as well as certain historic buildings and sent us a collage of the photos at the end of our day. The architecture and views were spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed Nelli’s company, history lessons and conversation. We highly recommend this tour!

Fantastic experience

We had a fantastic experience with Nelli. She was very welcoming and knowledgeable. In our 6 hour tour we managed to see lots of Budapest’s attractions and have some truly excellent food. Will definitely book again when we return to Budapest.

Brilliant introduction to Budapest

My partner and I had a great customised tour to visit some of Budapest’s cultural and historical highlights. Nelli gave us a great introduction to the city and lots of ideas about places to explore and where to eat and drink. She even sent us a photo gallery as a reminder of our tour. Highly recommended!

Budapest Food History Tour

Excellent tour. It was more of a food history tour than a food tasting tour. It was highly educational. We spent a lot of time in the Great Market where Nelli explained the history of the culture and the many food types. She was very knowledgeable and proud and answered all our questions. We had a great lunch and many nice samples.

Beautiful Budapest

Nelli is a great tour guide & nothing was too much for her. I enjoyed a 7- hour personalised tour of the city of Budapest seeing both the city's monuments, gathering information on its history, politics and art scene & eating the culinary delights of the city. It was all amazing!!. My favourite part was a visit to the Saturday markets & eating delicious peaches. I highly recommend her as a tour guide, she has so much love & enthusiasm for her country, she is good humoured & personable & clearly wants to ensure that her clients get value from their experience. Highly recommend.

Authentic Hungarian food

I can’t say enough about Nelli and about this wonderful delicious food tour. Nelly’s knowledge about food and cooking blew us away. My husband is Hungarian and we were so happy that everything was so authentic and reminders of the food that his grandmother and mother made since he was a kid. Great afternoon in Budapest

This was a wonderful tour! Our favorite tour on our trip! It was a great intro to Budapest, and Nelli showed us around the city on foot and on public transportation, so it was great to know where we wanted to return for the rest of our trip more in depth. Nelli was very friendly and had a lot of patience!

A Fun Afternoon in Budapest

We had such a great time with Nelli - she was so informative. She even schooled a couple of vendors we met (we bought a chimney cake at the Fisherman's Bastion, and Nelli explained the history of the cakes in pretty vivid detail - the vendor said, "Thank you! I had no idea!"). Being a local, she really knows the history of the area, and she's a personable, friendly person (and SO TALL, which we loved) and you will feel at ease with her; she isn't at all aloof or standoffish. She is happy to laugh and joke as she shares her knowledge with you. It was a lot of walking, so if you are handicapped or mobility challenged, do take this into consideration. There are loads of cobblestones - big, rough ones - especially in the castle area. This is no fault of the tour guide, it's just a fact of life in Budapest. Nelli was willing to give us plenty of time to sit and rest, and she scouted for benches and shaded areas for us. I would definitely recommend Nelli to anyone looking for an informed guide who knows the area and is an easygoing and adaptable guide. She even took several pictures of our whole group and sent them to us after the tour - this was much appreciated!

Nelli was just fantastic in every way. She was friendly, took us around the whole city of Budapest (both sides) and showed us everything we asked to see, plus a lot more. Oh my gosh we LOVED Nelli. We heard rave reviews from another group on our Viking cruise who booked her so we decided to give her a shot! We are so glad we did! Wonderful return trip to Hungary

Nelli is absolutely the best! She attends to every detail but is flexible to allow each group to enjoy as much or as little as they want. Our tours were all fantastic. We got to enjoy beautiful scenery, eat great food and immerse ourselves in Hungarian culture. Nelli made all of that possible. She is our friend for life. She did a wonderful job and helped us make some lifetime memories.

Nelli's private food tour is five star!

My husband and I have gone on quite a few tours in Europe, and the private food tour with Nelli has been one of our favorites. Nelli is the primary reason I'm ranking this a five-star experience. She is very warm and friendly and made us feel extremely comfortable. The cost is very reasonable considering you have a private guide for three hours. Nelli did an excellent job of not only teaching us the history of the food in Hungry but also providing us the opportunity to try some fantastic, authentic Hungarian food. If you enjoy eating and learning about history as you do it, I can't recommend this tour with Nelli highly enough.

Fun times with Nelli

I had an amazing time with Nelli. We took a grand tour of Budapest from walking to buses to trams to trains. She also showed me how to buy tickets and use the bus, train, tram, (transportation) and is very knowledgeable and showed me how to get along the rest of my time in Budapest alone. I highly suggest that you reserve her as she is in high demand. Best to book her the beginning of your stay and that way you will know where to go after your tour. She's funny, witty, bodyguard, movie star, and politely asks people to move out of the way so she can take a picture of you without them in it. She also answered questions that I had days after we toured together. I have definitely gained a new friend in Budapest. Last but not least, she showed me how to use the atm/cashpoint 🤔

WOW! What a wonderful tour with Nelli. Even prior to the tour, Nelli was great at working with me to design a great day of sightseeing. She was very responsive in our communicating back and forth. You can tell immediately that she has a strong love of Budapest and enjoys educating on its history. Nelli's english was fantastic and easy to understand. Nelli not only took us to the sights we specifically ask for but she took time to educate us on a lot of the "everyday" aspects of living in Budapest. Her passion for Budapest is only equal to her love of cuisine and cooking. Mixed in with our sightsee, she introduced us to several local food spots and local cuisine. It was amazing. This tour was worth the time and every penny we spent. I would HIGHLY recommend Nelli to anyone wanting to better understand Budapest's rich history and cuisine.

Food & history in one tour with extremely nice guide!

The food tour with Nelly was just fantastic from the first minute. We started at the market where she explained in detail different types of food and how they are used in Hungarian cuisine. Moreover, she combined the explanations about the food extremely well with the history of Budapest. So you couldn't stop listening to all the stories. We also moved to the Jewish quarter and visited a few more places. All the food was super delicious and we were pretty full afterwards. The three hours went by super fast. We would recommend any foodie to take the tour as you get the best combination of gastronomic experience and historical knowledge. Thank you so much Nelly!

Wonderful tour with Nelli

We had a fun time with Nelli. She is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about her city and its history. She helped us with the public transport and showed us around the old castle district, explaining the history and telling us stories in perfect English! We even made an essential stop to taste a delicious Langos (Hungarian fried bread). We then went on to visit the Great Market Food Hall. She also recommended and made reservations for us at a great retro restaurant for dinner, it was perfect! We would definitely use her as a guide again!

Lovely days in Budapest!

My daughter (26) and I spent two days with Nelli, and she was a fantastic guide. She obviously loves her city and enjoys sharing it with others. Our train arrived in Budapest an hour late, so we had to make some adjustments, but Nelli was very flexible and our tour was totally customized to our needs. Taking a tour with Nelli on your first day or two in town is a great way to get acclimated to the city, it's ancient history and culture. She guided us through public transport, helped us find restaurants, and gave us a good orientation to the city. I would definitely book a tour again!

Fantastic tour guide

Nelli brought Budapest to life - knowing not only the history in depth but also quite interesting stories not found in guidebooks. The tour was perfectly organized and took also our special interests into account. Nelli was also so kind to make dinner reservations for us (fabulous food!!!!) and gave us great ideas what to do in our spare time - visiting the Great Market Hall, having a coffee break and where the best ruin bars were among other ideas. Nelli spoke perfect English. Her German is also fantastic. Our advice to fellow travelers - visit Budapest with Nelli as your guide and we wish we had time to also take her food tour (hopefully next time!)

Hidden gems of Budapest by a gem of a tour guide!

Nelli is a charming, friendly personality whose enthusiasm for Budapest is infectious. She gave us a brief history of her ancestors and took us on a tour of the well known and less well known gems of the area. You came away feeling you knew the flavour of life past and present. By the end of the 3 hour tour you could call her a friend! We would definitely recommend Nelli for this tour, or any other tour of the lovely Budapest.

Highly Recommend!

I did this on my first day in Budapest as a way to stay up as long as I could for the time change adjustment (I was coming from CST in the US). Looking back on my entire 5 days in Budapest and all the fun I had--this tour was my favorite! It set the tone for my entire trip. Nelli was amazing an integrating the local food with the history of the country. She speaks perfect English, so, it was easy to understand. She took me to places I would not have seen otherwise. Places where the locals eat. And, she exposed me to my first chimney cake from a street food vendor--whom I went back to everyday to try a different flavor. It became viral on my social media to see what flavor I was taste testing that day. I WOULD NEVER have found this cart or stopped if it weren't for Nelli. The food and beverages were included in the price of the tour with gigantic portions which I couldn't finish. All in all it was pretty perfect.

Budapest 2022

Nelli was able to give us a wonderful introduction to Budapest. Our tour was customized to our preferences, and she even took us to some stores so we could buy an extra coat. (colder than anticipated) Nelli is so knowledgeable about the history and culture, she also knows the best food spots! Super friendly, took pictures for us, and we went to local places where many tourist type tours may not show. When we come back to Budapest we will most definitely be doing another tour with Nelli! 100% recommended.
