Budapest Grand City Tour with Parliament Visit

Not the best way to see Budapest.

Warning: This tour requires walking up six flights of stairs. Tour is really just a drive by of sites. We only booked this to get tickets to Parliament. Do yourself a favor go online and buy advance tickets to Parliament. All the sites on this tour are better seen with a longer time to spend at each.

Great Tour!

Excellent! Our guide was knowledgeable and interesting and answered all questions asked of him on the tour. It was a large group which can sometimes be challenging but he handled it like a pro. I would highly recommend this tour. The Parliament tour was great and well worth the price. He also takes great photos!

Parliament tour was great

Concise and worthy tour of Budapest and Parliament

I booked this tour because tickets to just the Parliament tour were sold out everywhere. I'm so glad I did! We started with a bus tour around Pest, seeing all the hot spots from the bus, but getting to stop at Heroes Square and get some pictures. Along the way, we also got a history lesson about Budapest. We then traveled over to the Buda side and were able to walk around Fisherman's Bastion and other sites up on the hill. From here, we returned to Pest and took the Parliament tour. With limited time in Budapest, we would never have been able to see everything we wanted to without taking this tour. We still missed out on a couple of things, but that just gives us an excuse to revisit. This was our first time using Viator, and we were not disappointed!

Worth it!

Worth the money! The guides were very lovely, informative and polite. The sights were beautiful, and the information received was useful to understand Hungary’s history and culture.

Kudos for Basil!

We honestly chose the tour due to the Parliament's ticket being sold out during our visit, but we ended up in a very pleasant experience, especially thanks to our guide. "Basil" was amazingly passionate, engaging, funny, interesting and a perfect guide for the 3-hour tour. Definitely recommended!

Budapest tour

Great All Around Tour for Budapest History & Sites

Brilliant Guide & Enjoyable Trip

Very enjoyable trip. Our guide was knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions in great detail. The only negative was that our poor guide was under considerable pressure giving the tour in both Spanish & English and the trip to Buda felt very rushed (again not the guides fault). The Parliament visit was very worthwhile and I would recommend this excursion.

Great day in Budapest

Great tour and guide. Basil was fantastic and made the tour really enjoyable. Managed to see all the major sights and learnt some great bits of history

Great tour

We only booked this city tour as it offered access to The Parliament. All the other tours were booked out on the day we had free. However we were delighted that we did as we enjoyed the city tour as much as the tour of the Parliament. The city tour was very interesting and driving around by bus gave us a good idea of the layout of the 2 parts of the city and buildings/areas we would like to go back and see. We learnt a lot about the history of Budapest and Hungary from Agnes which was fascinating. The Parliament is stunning and very interesting. Sadly it closed before we had time to look fully at the last information hall and gift shop.

Tour guide Anna was very knowledgeable, spoke very good English, and kept the group on track so we made it to the Parliament tour on time.

Great way to see a big city

I've been on the city bus tour before and still recommend it as a great way to get your bearings in Budapest. It was my second time in Budapest but my sister's first time, and this tour showed her some of the sights we had not otherwise planned on our routes. Our guide was great - very engaging and fun. The only thing we didn't plan on was that the Parliament tour would be so long after the end of the bus tour - our bus tour ended at about 1 pm, and our Parliament entry wasn't until 2:30. We had other things planned for the late afternoon that we had to rework, and we ended up a bit late for dinner. So I would just make sure you don't plan on the ENTIRE tour to be 4 hours - the bus tour is 3 hours, then the Parliament tour is about an hour, but possibly not immediately after the bus tour. Other than that, it's a great tour, and I highly recommend.

City tour

The guide should check to see if everyone has the AC working before starting out .a description of what sites will be seen would be helpful in choosing between this and other tours.

Great introduction to Budapest

The city tour is a great way to learn about Budapest and history of Hungary from its early tribal days, the subsequent rulers, the Ottoman period, becoming part of the Austria-Hungarian empire which fell after WW1, the communist era and finally a republic as we know it today. There were a few stops. The Parliament visit was the highlight. We toured the various chambers including an opportunity to see the royal crown, sceptre and sword. Each visitor is given an audio aid.

Not our favorite tour

The best part of the tour was the interior parliament tour, which could be purchased separately. Although it was a nice way to get around both sides of the city quickly, there were only a couple stops and it was difficult to see that much from the car. In addition one couple was late and our guide spent a lot of time taking phone calls to try to meet up with the missing people.

Be careful.

If you want an English speaking tour, be prepared for them to have it in 2 + languages. It’s very difficult for them ti discuss what you’re seeing as it may be a minute past while traveling in the bus. You virtually have half a tour because of switching between languages. Ver disappointing as it’s a city with so much history. It’s not enjoyable at all. And the AC wasn’t working on the bus.

Awesome Parliament House visit.

Seeing the interior of the Parliament was beautiful . The time spent in the Castle district was also great

Just buy a Parliament tour

You are basically paying for the Parliament tour.The guide was not informative and was speaking in multiple languages so half the time was wasted waiting while she spoke in a second language.We were mislead and told English only.The bus tour was a waste.We couldn’t see out the windows.We’re not told historical information and didn’t make many stops.

Do not use the parliamentvisit website Reseller with huge markup and does not tell truth

Do not book via Parliament visit website. The site tells you there is a live guided tour - this is false- it is just the audio which you can get for a fraction of the price they charge by going to the authentic parliament website. These are resellers with a huge markup. We were kept waiting outside for 30 minutes in 35 degree heat. We were told the guide was coming- no guide came- we were ushered through security and abandoned. There was just the audio guide. Do not book any tours with these guys.

Good Introduction to an Interesting City

Sofia was a wonderful, knowledgeable, fun, and friendly tour guide. Her commentary made history come alive. This was a really good introduction to Budapest.

Good tour but you need to be told in advance that non EU citizens pay 50% more than advertised

This was a good trip if you have limited time available. Well worth going inside the Parliament building. absolutely stunning. Informative guide. Went on the English speaking tour, but as it was for EU citizens, had to pay extra money £20 each, which is a very unreasonable premium on top of the £44 each already paid up front. This may be due to the hefty discount EU citizens are offered to visit the parliament building, but even so it should be stated up front in the advertising

Parliament was the highlight

Parliament tour was the highlight of this tour. Would recommend dividing groups who can maintain a faster pace from who need more time on walking portions.

Great tour! Cheers to Vera!

We had Vera as our guide and she was an energetic and informative lady who is also very nice and kind. The tour was short but fun. She even taught us some Hungarian phrases. Highly recommended!

Misleading information

Our booked tour was cancelled since the parliament wasn’t open. (Strange) we were offered a different tour in a different language the next day. We accepted. It turned out that we had almost 3 hours in between the city tour and the visit of the parliament. We were also given wrong times of the tour. Therefore we had to spent all day on this tour and almost missed the opera performance that we had bought tickets for. It is not a city tour: we were only shown two spots and we drove by the others in the bus.

Guide was rather unprepared. A lot of umming and ahih.ing Walked at a pace that was unfit for some of the group.

Visit to the Parliament. While stopping at Buda Castle all we did was stand on a very busy, noisy corner where we could not hear the guide while she talked on and on. We had an hour in which we could have gone into the church. Quite disappointed.

It wasn't worth it.

Took this tour "Budapest: Grand City Tour with Parliament Visit" with duration: 4.5 It was pretty average mainly due to 3 reasons 1. Weather, it was raining not tour agency's fault. 2. Tour de France caused road blockage causing a different route, not so cool. 3. Tour guide, was nice but really without any energy, very heard to hear, mixing up 2 languages (English & Spanish). With that low energy-less voice, it was hard to follow and understand. I'll recommend you just work like 10-15 mins on internet, go to these 2-3 places yourself, it would be a lot better and cheaper as well. Not recommended for smart people, for lazy being, go ahead.

Budapest is the Best

We loved the tour! George was FANTASTIC he is so friendly, knowledgeable and more than happy to share the history and stories of his beautiful city. We were very lucky as another couple had canceled and we basically had a private tour. Our tour had to be rescheduled because of a national holiday and Viktoria made the process simple and efficient. Do not hesitate, book this tour today. Budapest is the best!

Gyuri was the Best!

This was the first time we visited Budapest. The 4- hour tour took us to major sights and scenic views. The driver, Gyuri, was well informed about the architectural styles and histories of the buildings. One could tell that he loved the history of the city and knew more than there was time to tell! We highly recommend the tour and especially Gyuri as the guide.

Average tour, similar to Hop On/Off, without Hop Off

The tour is mainly a Hop On, Hop Off experience without hopping off. We stopped briefly at Heroes Square for a short walking tour and at Buda Castle's residential area for a quick photo session at Fisherman's bastion. The tour guide was easy to understand and was replaying the information in English and German. She encouraged questions, but sadly was unable to provide answers. The tour finishes by dropping you off at the parliament building (not starting point) with the tour guide procuring entry tickets to the Parliament building. This tour will give you a quick highlight of Budapest's sites, but nothing out of the ordinary.

1st time to Budapest tour

Getting the tour to the Parliament was an unexpected treat for the short time we were in Budapest. When making the selection for the city tour and Parliament it was stated on the form the tour was to be in English. For the Parliament tour it was in English. For the city tour it unfortunately not the best. Going back between (I believe) 2 or 3 languages which was not stated when I made the reservation, made it more than a challenge determining what she talking about to the area we were in. It was never stated there would be hundreds of steps to do for the Fisherman's Bastion, thus my wife could not do that part of the tour and stay on the bus. The highlight was the Parliament tour in the language specified on the advertisement.

Really disappointing and...

Really disappointing and not worth the money or time invested. I should have selected a different event...thought tour was English but was hybrid of Spanish and English so double the translations and double the time also tour guide got into an arguement with another Spanish tour guide (in Spanish) while getting our group tickets at Parliament Building and explaining what was to happen. Both guides were very unprofessional. Very disappointing.

It was a very informative tour

It was a great experience from beginning to end with our tour guide Gyuri who was very informative and entertaining

Not what we expected

Guide was nice but was supposed to be English tour. Well, 1/2 of it was English but the other half was in German. They should do either one but not both. Also, 45 minute Parliament tour was actually about 25 after going through security and being rushed through in a very large group. Could not get near the photo ops due to crowd.

Amazing building which is mandatory to visit in Budapest, perfect organization and guide. Handy audio guide.

It was informative but very fast-paced, there was so little time to take pictures on each tourist spot :(

Disappointing

We were excited about this tour because we’ve done other similar tours in the past in other cities and have amazing experiences. However that would not be the case for The Budapest city tour. It seemed like last minute the tour was blended to be both English and Spanish speaking tour. That alone would have been fine except often the guide would forget to switch between languages and only one group would get to understand what she was saying. I personally love being told a lot of historical facts during the times we are stuck in traffic, which has happened on any city; sadly though that wasn’t the case. We were driven to certain designated spots such as Heroes Square but were not told about who the statues were for and our guide did not walk the square with us. We were simply dropped off for 15 minutes to walk around and then loaded back into the van to sit in more traffic on our way to the Buda side. Again with little to no historical facts on the drive. The most interesting part of the tour, the Parliament building, was not even given by our tour guide. She simply picked up the tickets and instructed us on where to be when the tour started. So of the 4 hours we paid for 1 hour was the parliament tour (given by someone at the parliament building separate from our tour), 1 hour is free time to roam around Matthias Church and the Fisherman’s Bastion, approximately 15 minutes at Heroes Square. The rest of the time is spent in the car with little to no interesting information presented. My suggestion save your money and take the subway to the various sights.

Budapest Grand City Tour with Parliament Visit

There was extremely limited information given by the tour guide, did not learn much. Most places were just a drive-by. Could have just taken the tram up and down along the river and seen some these sites for much less money or just walk along Andrassy Street. The parliament tour is not provided by the company, the tourists are basically just dropped off at the parliament and after a 40 minute wait is when the tour inside the parliament started.

Insight into Budapest

A great introduction to Budapest. We included the Parliament building visit which was good, and we had enough time in the castle area not to need to go back

OUr driver was a character, and focused on food but told us some stories, dropped us off and we were on our own up on the castle hill, I would have preferred his taking us in various places. The parliament tour was great, but not really through viator, just got dropped off hteir were given tickets and told to get in line. DOn't get me wrong, the parliament was amazing, but again, not really part of what viator did

Excellent City Tour

We did the Grand City tour with a visit to Parliament. Our tour guide was Atilla and he was excellent. He managed to show us so many more sights than I anticipated. He showed us the castle district, the citadella, the liberty bridge, the chain bridge, Heroes Square, and Parliament. I would highly recommend this group, especially Atilla.

A terrible experience

First of all I asked the staff of reception desk of my hotel to contact Citirama (tour operator) to arrange with Citirama to pick me up in hotel. They have came 30 minutes late. The Citirama bus stop nearby one of the Budapest bridge crossing the Danube River was a real mess. I am person with restrictions in terms of mobility. When he bus has arrived in Buda Castle, I would like to be close to the bus. But the tour guide has encouraged me to go with him and visit Buda Castel and sorroundings. I have explained to him that I was nit able to walk fast, He said to me that he would walk very slowly (that was not true). In order to conclude, I was lost from my group. I didn't visit tne Parliament which I have paid to do it. I took a taxi to come back to my hotel and finally I didn't receive any call from Citirama to know was happen.

Parliament Visit

Tour was very good and informational. The Parliament is absolutely beautiful and should be seen if your in Budapest. Our tour guide was very good and at the end of the tour answered any and alll questions

Budapest City Tour with Parliament Visit

Excellent tour from start to finish including hotel pick-up. Parliament building was incredible and just plain HUGE. Tour covered much of the building and is certainly stunning in architecture as well as size. Should not be missed on a visit to Budapest.

Disappointed tour

The tour did not met our expectation. The tour is very rush and the tour guide is trying to complete the tour just briefly explaining each place that we visit.

Learning Experience

Attila , our guide provided a good perspective of the history of the country with interesting titbits thrown in . His wry sense of humour added to the experience.

Worst tour ever

We have taken hundreds of bus tours, This was the worst tour ever. Small bus, small windows, cramped seating and on a day where the temp. was 31C the Air Conditioning wasn’t working. The guide was pleasant and knowledgeable. Finally, we were simply told when we were given our tickets for the tour of Parliament, that the bus tour was over and we would have to find our own way to our hotels. We had to walk several hundred meters just to get to a street with taxis.
