Adventure Caving Experience in Budapest

Fun, exciting and not to be missed

Definitely worth doing if you have a sense of adventure and like to experience new situations. Your hands and long hair will get dirty. You will get bruises. Wear shoes with good grip that you don’t mind getting dirty and wear clothes that do not restrict movement as you will be climbing and clambering through some tight spots. The tour is very well put together and make sure you listen to your guide. An amazing experience not to be missed if you have the chance.

Great dive into Hidden Budapest

Highlight experience when visiting Budapest. A great, funny guide with tons of knowledge that clearly has a longtime passion for the sport. Will offer to do more challenging route if the group is up for it. Recommend trying and supporting their work.

Fantastic experience underground

Fantastic adventure, we all loved it. Had a great time with the guides, very knowledgable and funny. Something different to add to your Budapest itinerary, a real memorable experience - and yes, recommend going to the thermal baths afterwards to relax.

Amazing experience!

Great experience and highlight of my time in Budapest! Immersive from start to finish and difficult sections offer alternate routes and the instructor is very helpful when necessary. Definitely worth it and recommend! Photos attached are leading into and coming out of the most difficult section we encountered!

Superb Spelunking Experience

I had an amazing time during this caving tour!! The guide was great about accommodating to the group as well as giving individuals different options to ensure everyone was having a good time. Not only was it super cool to crawl around the caves, but along the way you also got to learn a little bit about the caves themselves which was very interesting. It is definitely a bit of a workout, so be prepared, but it is nothing too strenuous. I highly recommend this experience while in Budapest (unless you are claustrophobic)!!

Caving...you gotta try 🤣

It was such an awesome experience, never know what you're capable of... 3 hours of that xD you will get a good idea... we had quite a lovely little group as well so very thankful for that! special shout out to our host Solit (sorry misspelling) he was so enthusiastic with awesome humour, he made it a one of a kind tour! I hope I get to be as fast and agile as you some day, thank you for looking after us and entertaining us all

First time caving

Had a lot of fun in the caves! Initially was worried a bit as I had never been in these type of caves before but this was completely unnecessary. Our guide Szilard made us feel relaxed and during the whole experience he checked with the group how do we feel and if we should go more complicated route or easier route. When evert we get back to Budapest, I would def do this again and even go for the extreme tour.

Awesome once in a lifetime experience

Wow, what a once in a lifetime experience! Our guide was so passionate about caving and the history of the caves, we got so much information and learnt so much whilst going round. Me and my partner are young, active people and the others in the group were of a similar age and ability, so we were well challenged in the caves, taking all the hardest routes. It was very physically demanding, and the spaces are incredibly tight, squeezing through one body part at a time and jumping over/across rocks. If you’re fit and don’t mind tight spaces, it literally is an experience you can’t miss. Although, our guide did say there were plenty of easier alternate routes if any of us needed to, and she monitored our ability as we went round. Some tips… it is warm down there, you don’t think it will be, but under our overalls we just had a t-shirt on and still got pretty sweaty. Also, bring some gloves. These aren’t provided and I would have benefitted for some to help with grip and stop my hands getting sore (some thin gardening gloves or agricultural ones). Overall, it was one of the best experiences of my life, I enjoyed it far more than I could ever have expected and would recommend it highly to anyone wanting to do something like this.

Amazing Experience, 10/10

I had an absolutely amazing experience. Upon arriving, I was greeted with a warm welcome. Our guide gave us a briefing on what to expect and our equipment. While I felt in safe hands, I was pleasantly surprised by how adventurous our tour was. Expect to be on your hands and knees a lot. During the experience, you will take breaks while the guide gives information about the cave. This honestly worked out perfectly for me because you'll likely want to take small breaks between tricky sections. The activity itself was amazing, but I also loved how enthusiastic our guide was. I don't typically leave reviews, but this was 100% deserved!

Amazing experience!

This was an awesome experience! We went as 4 friends from college and it was so much fun. Our guide made sure to do what the group was comfortable with, and told great stories. I would recommend you be moderately fit and able to climb when needed. I would SO do it again!

Unique experience

Unique experience and the team was really cool!! You could feel safe and comfortable all the way, moreover if some parts were hard the guide had options to bring you from more comfortable route! You should try it

Amazing 10/10 would recommend

Amazing experience 10/10 we loved every second of this. It will push your limits at times and you may think there is no way you can do it but our guide was AMAZING and supported all of us every step of the way. We laughed ALOT and have stories for a life time. Just do i it you won’t regret it. WARNING: this is a physical activity and you will have to shove yourself through small holes. If you are larger or outta shape it may not be the activity for you.

Loved it!

Great experience! The guide was amazing and it was a lot of fun. Learnt a lot about the caves and culture from the guide who had sure everything was kept fun too. He gave other great recommendations too. You do have to be reasonable fit or you may struggle. Make sure to bring grippy footwear and be prepared to get dirty! Really worth it and would definitely do again

Amazing experience

Amazing experience for all ages, tour guide was phenomenal and made the experience. Need some level of physical fitness, but was appropriate for someone who isn’t overly active, due to lots of breaks. Definitely worth doing! If you’re worried about feeling claustrophobic, when you’re down there you don’t really feel it, it’s very calm.

an absolute must try when visiting Budapest

The tour guide was super nice and explained a lot about the caves and his experience of other caves around the world. the whole experience felt magical and never once did you feel unsafe under all those rocks.

A great adventure for adventurous people.

Laszlow was a fantastic guide who was extremely knowledgable, funny and made sure everyone stayed safe throughout the whole caves. He carefully explained the way to get through tight spots and some drops. He also made sure we paid attention as it is super important to know exactly where to place your feet and hands.

Special experience

The caving is a bit challenging for those who sit for whole day, but it is not difficult for kids. You need to use all of your muscle to crawl or climb.

Wow do it!!

Wow what an experience, not for the faint of heart. We spent 3 hours winding down in to these impressive caves underneath the city, squeezing through small holes and spaces which I won't lie was a little out my comfort zone but I do love a challenge. My partner actually got stuck in one as he didn't position his body correctly but this was his own fault as he wasn't listening to our experienced guide. After it we were buzzing for the rest of the day, proud that we had achieved such a unique experience in Budapest

Unique, but too much talking

It is definitely a unique experience, but, for me, I would’ve liked the tour to be a little bit more fast paced. We were 7 people in total and we would do a little bit of cave walking and then stop and the guide would explain something about the cave, but sometimes it was too much talking. I wanted to explore more. Overall, it is worth reserving half a day in Budapest for this.

Absolutely Phenomenal

The instructor/guide was phenomenal! This was one of the best trips/activities planned. The amount of history and appreciation the gentleman has for the hobby is unmatched. He is a very nice guy and gave me a whole new perspective on caving

Fantastic - would definitely recommend!

Absolutely fantastic experience - I was a little nervous to begin with but our guide was friendly, informative and really brought humour to the situation. The group that we were with was also really nice and we looked after one another when going through the caves which is imperative for a safe and enjoyable experience. There were a couple of spaces where there was the option to do harder or easier to make it varied for the group and the guide gave us al ot of history and facts to absorb. I would definitely recommend doing this to anyone who visits Budapest! It was fab!

Caving in Budapest

The tour was fun and challenging and our guide was amazing, especially with my two boys (ages 8 & 11). This was the highlight of our trip and well worth the price of admission.

Incredible experience, highly recommend

This was such a fun, unique experience! I was apprehensive because I’d never done anything like that before but our guide Szilard was amazing and gave us all tips on how to navigate and manoeuvre our ways through the tight spaces in the cave. We took frequent breaks where he shared interesting information on the geology of the caves and facts about caving. It isn’t too difficult as long as you’re not completely unfit and doesn’t require too much strength or stamina. They provide overalls with really good grip which help when you’re hauling yourself up some slippery rock. A lot of the reviews say to go in shoes with good grip, but I went in my converse chucks (which was all I had) and it was just fine. Definitely worth a shot when you’re in Budapest!

A unique and fun experience!

This was a great experience! Traveling through the cave was fun, educational and well worth the time and effort. Note: take shoes that can get dirty and have tread. It will help you traverse the tight spots. Lazlo (the King) was a great guide, knowledgeable, patient and fun to be around. This is not your typical tourist activity. Many of the locals do not know this exists. Great hidden gem. You do need to be able to bend, twist and pull yourself up. Great workout!

Amazing Experience

Absolutely an amazing experience. We were in the cave for 2 1/2 hours. My favorite parts included crawling through a squeeze with all lights off and crawling through an additional 15 meter squeeze at the end of the tour, both optional. It was a fun challenge. I also caught a video of two bats flying through the first large room where you enter the cave system.

Unbelievable caving experience

This was a truly amazing experience, that exceeded my expectations. The guide was amazing and gave the group options to which paths to choose i.e. tight squeezes for those up for it and an easier route for those that weren't. I really enjoyed how "natural" and realistic the experience was, there were no handrails and materialised paths etc and I really enjoy pushing myself outside my normal confort zone. In addition to this, the tour was quite informative with stories and history of the cave and system. I highly recommend doing this tour, it is definitely not one for the faint hearted!

The highlight of my visit to Budapest

I had a great time walking, crawling, and occasionally squeezing through the caves. Laszlo was a great guide, who was able to judge well the abilities of the group, made good conversation throughout (and took the time to get our names), and clearly knew the caves like the back of his hand. It was an excellent experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes being a little bit active. You don't need to be an athlete, but it is physical.

Great trip

I loved it, and I would go again. I took so many pictures! I was also fun fun! Riverboat was so much fun also. Tours were great. I wanted to stay longer in some situations.

Worth every penny!

A powerful experience that will leave you with a number of temporary bruises and an eternal memory. Our witty, experienced guide, Laszlo, turned an otherwise purely sporty event into a fun crawl. I would definitely recommended this for people looking to spice up their visit to Budapest and definitely wouldn't recommend this to anyone with a considerable beer belly unless they want to spend the rest of their lives stuck in Budapest's cave system. As it gets more slippery the further you go, wear shoes with a rough sole that you don't mind getting muddy and don't wear too many layers.

Fun and challenging experience

This is an excellent experience it you are in Budapest. This was my third time caving and I had a lot of fun. The trip will take you to some ups and downs through tight passages and open areas and every bit is as challenging and delightful as the last. The guide is a geology PhD student and that's easy to notice: she knew the composition and history of every single rock and material in the trip, and gave us a lot of relevant information about the caves and caving in general. Highly recommended!

Amazing must-do experience!!

Latsgo was our tour guide and my! What an amazing experience of a lifetime it was!! My family (mom dad and two girls) at the time of our lives! It was like a journey through this whole new realm that we never saw before. Definitely requires you to be physically fit I feel like I barely fit through some of those passageways if you fear of heights or are claustrophobic, probably not the best thing to do (though they said that they manipulate the pathway based on how physically fit and large every member of the group is). But I would probably not do it if you suffer from medical conditions or obesity. It was absolutely amazing, and I would totally do it again in a heartbeat! The tour guide also made sure that my 2 kids were safe and happy which was very important to us (especially our smaller one!). FYI.. they give you all the appropriate gear. Should probably wear cargo pants or long shorts, close, toed sneakers, and a light, long sleeve shirt is ideal. They give you overalls and a helmet, which work really well!

I found myself in those caves, the silence, the darkness and the joy of getting in such tight places to reveal the wonderful spaces within the caves, I truly enjoyed every bit of it Wonderful experience with a wonderful guide

Down into the depths of Budapest

Absolutely LOVED this adventure! Our guide was fantastic, super knowledgeable with a great sense of humor! Our group only had 6 adults (plus our guide), which was really nice. It was especially pleasing to escape the heatwave in Budapest and head down into the cool cave. Book this tour. You won’t regret it!

Best Experience Ever!!!

Szilárd was the best tour guide anyone could ask for! I cannot praise him enough on the way he looked after our group and how knowledgeable he was. My partner and I had the best time and it is all thanks to Szilárd guiding us all the way. He is definitely a massive asset to this company and we are so grateful we were paired with him! The experience overall was so much fun and definitely a once in a life time experience. If you are NOT claustrophobic…just do it, please! The thought of being 55 metres underground might be daunting but you are not alone and you have a trained expert with you the entire time. I can’t rave about this experience enough. The coolest thing I’ve done on impulse

I’ve been travelling for about 2 months and during that time I’ve been relatively conscious of how much money I’m spending. But I saw a brochure for this expirience and I knew I couldn’t just sit this one out- and it was so worth it. The tour guides were amazing and we really went and did some challenging crawls through the cave. There were 2 people who decided right at the start that they were too claustrophobic to do the caving- and one of the guides happily went back with them and refunded them- But it’s an awesome experience and I highly recommend it- just be aware that you will be climbing and crawling in a super interconnected cave network through all nooks and crannies- this is not for the fair of heart!

awesome experience but not a walk in the park

Szilard was awesome, entertaining and reassuring. This was a great experience, sometimes slightly uncomfortable when the holes appeared small and rocks too steep and slippery but I am so glad I did it with my teens who, it turned out, managed to squeeze through tight spaces better than me. Great experience.

We had a blast!

I have done an adventure caving experience once before, Down Under, and when I saw that there was an option to do so in Budapest, I just knew I had to give it a go. And it was just excellent, great fun, a must do if you are the adventurous type! Our guide Laszlo took us safely through narrow spaces, holes and tunnels, helped us climb safely up and down slippery and narrow paths, taught us about the history of the cave systems and with his calm and quiet demeanor generally made everyone feel safe. Very old, unfit or overweight people will not be able to do this, but everybody else should definitely give this a try, you will not regret it, and you wouldn't want to miss this extremely cool experience!

Best way to escape the city

This was by far the best experience I had caving, mainly because the guide was super helpful and just a blast to be around. If you’re up for a bit of a challenge ask them to take you to the sandwich (not for the feint of heart).

Best part of my visit to Budapest

Fantastic way to experience the natural caves off the beaten path. Great tour guide with nice explanations of the caves and how to navigate everything safely. Some nice tips for other stuff to do in Budapest too!

Fun guide and flexible to our experience level

The second time I've done this tour. Excellent and different both times. Guides are great, funny and flexible. We asked to do harder routes and the guide was great at letting us get on with it.

Unbelievable Adventure

I am 22, I like bouldering/caving, and I have been in some undeveloped caves exploring on my own before. This one was unbelievable. Only 2 people showed up for our tour and we were both young and pretty into it, so the guide took us really far down (100m underground from the entrance) and we got to do some fun climbing and squeezes in addition to the base tour. The base tour is still very exciting and involves a lot of tight squeezes, big rooms, and beautiful areas. You will be underground for 2+ hours moving through a ton of different rooms, the cave is so big there is no way you could see it all. Our guide was very fun and extremely knowledgeable about caving. I felt very safe with him and he made it a wonderful experience. I have been traveling all over Europe for the last 2 months and this is my favorite experience so far :)
