Roman Tarragona and Glamorous Sitges Small Group Tour from Barcelona

I really like the combination of the group tour which is not very big and a mini van instead of a big bus. The guide Nando who is also the driver and the other one were very caring as we have an elderly couple in this tour. We have got enough time to explore each place and the explanation of the itinerary was clear. The recommendation of the restaurant was perfect with what I wanted to try. Will definitely pick the tours from explore Catalunya again and if possible, have Nando as your guide. They make sure you have enough time for each spot and would help you to take photos at the best spot.

Our tour guide "Mr Henriquez" was great. Knowledgeable, attentive and a very good driver. Took us to the right spots, was punctual and on time to pick us up. Amazing time. We loved it.

Interesting Roman influences in Tarragona

Small group of guests with Sergi as our guide. We got along quite well. Sergi knew his history. Lots of good info on the sites we visited. Answered our questions and offered suggestions on where to go with our limited free time. Downer was Sitges where restaurant stay took 2 hours. Sunday crowd made Sitges super busy.

Perfect balance of nature, Roman sites and water views

Our tour guide Xavier was amazing, cheerful, patient and very knowledgeable! The variety of activities was wonderful, beautiful views of the water, exploring the Roman city, and the restaurant by the water was great. Managed to squeeze in some time for a super quick swim in the cold water felt amazing especially after all the walking.

Tarragona and Stiges

Our guide, Jordi, was excellent!! We would highly recommend him as your guide. He was knowledgeable and happy to answer any of our questions. The tour provided plenty of time to explore Tarragona and Stiges without feeling rushed.

Great tour with Xavier!

Xavier was a great guide. We started our day to the Roman aqueduct and then made our way to Tarragona. Xavier was very knowledgeable and explained the history behind everything super well. We had some free time to check out the amphitheater or the little shops. We then made our way to Sitges, such a beautiful town. Here, we had lunch and ample time to swim on the hottest day! Definitely don’t miss out on the beach, so refreshing. Xavier made a quick stop where we saw Sitges from the highest point. He captured the most beautiful picture with my mom which I will cherish forever.

Very nice trip. Our Tourguide Xavier did an excellent job. We especially liked the different roman ruins in Tarragona and the church in Sitges.

perfect tour

It was a perfect tour. Our guide xaiver was a good driver, a good recommendator and a good photographer. He is an all-rounder. His historical knowledge was also good. Actually, I am not very good at English, but I could understand everything. I recommend this tour.

Historic tour with ample time to sightsee

Xavier was amazing! We learned so much about the history of Catalonia and had a fantastic time sightseeing. He also took us on some additional sights that weren’t included in the tour, including a fabulous viewpoint to see Sitges. This is a great tour!

Great day trip schedule, nice transport and guide

Perfect mix of guided and free time, so it didn’t feel too long. Sergio was fun, helpful and knowledgeable. The minibus was clean and we were able to leave belongings behind when not needed. Bring shoes for the beach in the summer, sand is very hot. Overall a great day.

All roads lead to Rome - a great day out!

Xavier bought a fun and engaging energy to the day. He has a lot of knowledge so I learnt a lot, but he also liked to test us about things and I found I knew more than I thought I did! Had a great day, would 100% recommend!

We went to see the Roman aqueduct, then to Tarragona, and finally to Sitges.

Everything we went to see was breathtaking! I learned a lot about history and Roman architecture. Loved every bit of our journey.

Gorgeous Roman Ruins

Loved the tour, but thought it would have included going into the Coliseum & Roman Circus. We did have free time, but not enough. I would have preferred to skip Sitges and stay in Tarragona. LOVED stopping at the aqueduct and getting to walk on top of it!! AMAZING!! LOVED our tour guide , Sergio!! Thank you for a beautiful, wonderful, amazing day!! Lisa

Back in time!!

To start we have a great guide Steven! Our group was delightful. The Roman aqueduct like always very impressive, have the opportunity to cross the entire Roman bridge . Later Tarragona Town has a great view of the Mediterranean seas and the ruins of Roman empire.

Underrated tour - so beautiful and highly recommended.

Stephen took us on an amazing tour of the various sights of Tarragona (Tarraco) and Sitges, and we were able to have some free time in all areas to do as we wished. One of the highlights was our time at the beach in Sitges, where we enjoyed swimming in the ocean and lounging with the locals. Highly recommended trip! Stephen made our trip A+.

Great day trip to Tarragona & Sitges

Our small group (8) tour was great! The meeting place was easy to find. Our tour guide (Stephen) was fantastic!!! Friendly and knowledgeable. We had a comfortable drive to Tarragona with interesting bits of information on the way. The guided tour around the different Roman ruins was informative, and we enjoyed our free time in the city. The kids shopped at an outdoor market while we enjoyed cocktails at a cafe. We also enjoyed our beach and cafe time in Sitges, and Stephen treated us to a fantastic view at the end of our time there. 10/10 would recommend!!

A great experience

What a great adventure! We were intrigued by the presence of Roman ruins all throughout Tarragona, and how well-preserved they were, considering. Tarragona is a very pretty town. Of course, we loved shopping and visiting the beach at Sirges, and the seafood and paella were great! We walked straight into the sea without stopping, it was so refreshing and not at all cold. We highly recommend this tour and this tour group. I apologize but I forget the name of my wonderful tour guide from Ireland, but he was amazing!!

Tremendous Tarragona

Loved Tarragona! Our guide, Sergei was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable of the history of the city and took the time to explain it to the group. We were allowed ample time to see things on our own as well. Tour could have been improved by allowing more time in Tarragona! Sitges is a charming sea side town with plenty of shopping and restaurants. Sergei did an excellent job of explaining the various options and the history behind the town as well.

If you like Roman ruins this is a perfect tour

Amazing tour with "Arno". Perfect guide for all my nerdy questions about Roman architecture, he studied archeology so well suited for the task. If you're into Roman history this was a cool tour, and finishing it with drinks on the beach was the ultimate way to end the day.

Not for Fall

Tarragona was fantastic, lots of history in a compact area to see. However Stiges and the other random town they stopped at are simply not that enjoyable in the Fall. If you can't enjoy the beach- there is not much to do there. Lots of free time in both locations, which IMO means if you want to go there, hop on the train and do it, no need to tour.

Tour through Viator booking site

The tour was in place of a tour we missed do to not getting to correct meeting point in foreign city. We had used viator the previous day and had a good experience. The tour we missed put a damper on our trip. My recommendation is reserve the tour but pay when you arrive if that's possible. The tour company rep who we met after missing our trip was only able to say show up the next day and we may possibly be able to get you on tour if spot opens up. No refund or lets book you into the next day. We were not thrilled and tried to get Viator to refund or rebook trip. But, they were of little help despite trying. We went the next day not knowing what outcome would be. We were fortunate that the tour representative that morning was able to accommodate us into this tour. So, we didn't lose our money. Now, for the real review. Ernesto was our guide. He was knowledgeable. Friendly. The tour was informative. Sights were many and impressive. Just enough talking and exploring. I would do this type of tour again. And that's saying a lot as i am not the tour type of person.

Started with a bang but fizzled in the end.

Starting inTarragona we had a comprehensive experience. The sites were amazing and the tour guides level of knowledge of the city was impressive. The only reason I give this tour 3 stars is the Sitges portion of the tour. It was here where the tour guide gave us a few highlights before dropping us off to tour the seaside community on our own for 3 hours. I would of preferred a more intimate and informative escort throughout Sitges closer to the experience in Tarragona. If you are looking for quite time in Sitges to play on the beach or take in the sun on your own this is the tour for you.

Great tour with Steven!

Exploring the aqueduct was a highlight of my day. From my latin books on roman history to real life. Very cool! Also enjoyed Tarragona but would have loved more time there compared to Stiges since I had not planned on going to the beach but truly overall a great trip with our wonderful guide Steven.

Very Good but Not as Interesting as Others

Having been on three of the Explore Catalunya tours, I don't think this one is as fascinating as others. Our tour guide was excellent and the aqueduct ruins stop right outside of Tarragona and Tarragona itself with its charming narrow streets, history, ruins and view of the water was very interesting.. On the way to Sitges, there was a stop at a summer colony which was great as well. However, other than eating in Sitges, and looking at the beach, there isn't much else to see, even in the old section. For someone who only has time to do an out-of-city tour, this would not be my #1 choice.

Views were good but tour could have been better

The car we took was a small van where our tour guide was also our driver. That was a little unnerving as we could tell that he was trying to point out landmarks but also swerving a bit on the road/drove through red lights. The others in the car later on I heard felt the same way. It was difficult to hear him as well in the car. In Tarragona, since he had to find parking we had to drive around for about 20 minutes with no luck so he dropped us off where he could and gave us maps. Although I understand that parking can be an issue, this wouldn't have happened if there was a proper driver for the tour as we were all pretty disappointed that we had to figure it out ourselves when we had paid for specifically a tour guide to guide us around. Essentially for most of the trip, we were dropped off at locations and wandered ourselves. The views at these places were really nice but if I had to do it again, I would've just taken a train from Barcelona to these areas as it would've been less expensive and I wouldn't have felt as rushed from place to place due to the time constraints (especially when you're trying to look for parking which that can take time to do). This tour could've been planned out better.

Perfect combination of places to see on a short trip

First of all, you meet at their business so there is no confusion about the meeting spot. It’s hard to miss because there are so many other travelers doing other tours through the same company. Enrique, our tour guide, was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and was friendly. Everything was punctual, organized, and catered to us. The history we got to see was incredible. Highly recommend, especially if you are interested in Ancient Rome 2 small suggestions for improvement: 1) more time in Tarragona and less time in Sitges 2) Bigger van. There was only 5 of us on this tour and we were cramped on the drive

Surprising Tarragona & Sitges

We thoroughly enjoyed this trip. Our guide, Arnaud was outstanding. He communicated very well and was extremely knowledgeable about history and current events. It was a real please to spend the day with him.
