PortAventura Park Day Trip from Barcelona

Waste of time!

Park was good, the package included Ferrari Land, which we later found out that it starts at 5pm and the trip started at 9am. The pick up bus was supposed to leave at 6:30 so we barely had time to enjoy Ferrari Land! Moreover, the bus arrived one hour late to pick us up without an apology

Nice experience

Easy to buy online. Easy to get to Estación del Nord. Recommend to add additional details about location of Julia Travel inside the station. Bus was clean, good air conditioning and punctually. Convenient when compare with other options to get to the park. Park is great for the price!

Reckless approach of an agency

The bus was supposed to pick us up at 18:30 and it did not come!!!! No answer from the agency, no message. We were waiting at the car park for hours, including other families with children. We will definitely make a complaint and claim our money back for such inadequate service ! Shame on you Julia travel, you are not professionals.

Coach very late

The bus on the way home was very late, leaving everyone stranded waiting in the hot sun. Children crying and distressed. Not pleased

We got the bus trip to portaventura with park tickets included. The journey on the way out fine, we left and got there on time, but we were asked to be in the parking lot for at least 18.25 as the bus was due to leave at 18.30. The bus wasn’t there when we got out. It turned up an hour later. In this time frame I rang Julia travel twice to explain the bus wasn’t there and they were adamant that it would be in the car park and that I should look again. When the bus did turn up it was smaller than the original bus we got on and there wasn’t enough seats for everyone. There were at least 5 people who couldn’t get on the bus. We then had a further delay as the bus driver had to ring the main office and then we had to wait for a taxi to turn up to take the people who couldn’t fit on the bus. Then because we’d all been waiting in the car park for longer than we’d planned for a lady asked the bus driver after we set off if there was any way he could stop at some point for her daughter to go to the toilet. He did eventually stop but he was very rude to her. In addition, the gaps between seats are too small. I’m only 5 foot 7 and my knees were rammed into the seat in front of me the whole way. Despite the bus being so late we didn’t receive any apology or compensation from Julia travel. Overall I wouldn’t recommend going to portaventura via Julia travel.

Not guaranteed to skip queues like it says in 'what's included'.

Fooled into thinking that it included fast pass as it says 'guaranteed to skip queues'. Turns out not included at all. So quite pricey in the end. Better to do find transport and buy tickets separately.

Online ticket is useless for information

Online ticket is useless. Says on the ticket to show the bus driver but you needed to get a ticket from an unknown office. Bus was late and I received my ticket late so i was put on a later bus even though I was early. Also on the online ticket it says return bus is 19:30 but on my physical ticket it says 18:30. Never seen such disorganization and miscommunication in Spain.

The best park in Europe

It will be a little longer. If you don't feel like it, don't read it, but I think it will be useful because I see massively what reviews there are, and things can be much simpler. Great park! Great vib! You need to know how to make it work in your favor. Go during the week, no Fridays. Buy tickets in advance. If you want a Ferrari, go 30 minutes before the park opens and run. If you don't, you'll be waiting 2 hours. In PortAventura, don't stand in line at Furious Baco, head to Far West and start with the less adrenaline-pumping attractions. There won't be any there. Leave the big attractions for after 2pm. Eat at 12 noon so you're not waiting in line for a hot dog. Don't buy a fast pass unless you're only there for 1 day. Everyone buys and you wait in big lines and the price is killer. Where there is a stand alone queue, use it. If you waited once at Shambhala to ride with friends, then stand in the single queue and ride 10 more times in 1 hour. Between 2 and 5 there are the least people in the queues. Bring sunscreen and hats or you will die of a heart attack. The park is huge, but don't mind being busy. The queues to wait between 10 and 30 minutes are small, don't think you'll get through in 10 minutes, it's almost impossible. Those who have written that they get through like that are one of a kind, lucky people. 40 minutes is NOT a long wait, believe me. If the attraction isn't extreme but there is a big line, skip it. At the end of the day, before you leave, go to Furious Baco. You won't wait under 1 hour probably and you'll ride for 32 seconds. It's a nice ride, but not worth the wait. By all means don't go with socks and flip flops because it's ugly and pointless. If you are in flip flops, go barefoot. For the macho people who think underarm hair is manly, you're wrong. Get everything out of there. When you sweat, it smells pretty bad, especially in the ;summer months. Masculinity is not in the hair but in your behavior. Sorry if I offend anyone, but it's a fact. When you raise your hands, it stinks twice as much, and we're in line together. Those who go without socks - cut your nails. Have some respect for your bodies and maintain them. The views are extremely unpleasant. Don't make the people in line in front and behind you share that. Don't get in front because there will always be someone more cunning than you and they will screw you over, or slap you, it happens often. Hispanics are a different culture and if you're not a local, take it a little easy. Don't compare the park to other parks, there's no point. This one is, so try to get a feel for it and outsmart it by being one step ahead. For families with young kids, don't inflict it on them if they are under 12. It's terribly hot in the summer months and you'll doom your kids to death in the queues. The park is for slightly older "kids" and adults, no matter what the commercials tell you. I've been to this park 14 times, I don't think any can give you better information that won't really mislead you. I wish you great emotions and remember - think about how you do it. If you want relaxation, walking, attractions and fun, go for a minimum of 3 days unless you want to leave disappointed. 80 euros for 3 days and more than a good price.

Amazing time.

Excellent. Went in May, weekday, and purchased "fast track/que skip". All rides open. Moderately busy. However, again, great weather, skipped every que. Amazing rollercoasters/rides. Coach transfer their and back. Good price, and day.

Okay but not great

Not overly impressed. Park opens at 10am, the bus did not get us there until gone 11am. The coach needs to leave much sooner so that customers get a full day at the park (e.g, 9:30 ready for the park to open). Tickets we were given got us straight into the park. No queue, great! Bus requested us to be back at 6:30pm, this was a disappointment as the park didn’t close until 8pm so missed a whole 1 hour and half of the end of the day. We could have used this time to go on another ride. The queues were horrendous, we only got on 3 of the main rollercoasters in the 7 hours we were there. Would recommend express pass.

Best Amusement Park for kids

We have been to many amusement parks for kids such as Disney, warner brother, lego land etc and we found this to be the most younger kids friendly while also offered full enjoyments for our older kids and adults alike. Themes are fun, rides are fun, food outlets and gift items were fun. Parade and fire works were accessible by large crowd. Will surly visit anytime we are in Catalonia.

Port Aventura

Really joyful experience. Very exciting attractions for adults. The park has big territory with lot of different places for different ages. We used only those Attractions where minimum height was 140cm and stuff checked it Cerys seriously.

great place to visit but express ticket has hidden flaw in it we were not allowed to pick front seat in roller coster game they said i have to pay more or go to the line , food prices very expensive , apart from all it was nice sunny hot day to enjoy the park

Review

Great theme park, the only thing me and my other half didn't like nor really dislike the short period of both boat ride and old school train around the park which lasted about 3-5 minutes maximum boat ride was about the same length. Waiting in a 20 minute que for minute's wasn't worth it.

Organised family visit

An excellent day out in Barcelona, the guide(Maria) was very knowledgeable with good sense of humor, who made our day very memorable; Nice clean,bus ,with a lovely driver(Marco).

lovely place , variety of rides for all ages; must visit destination , I strongly recommend to pay for the express option to avoid long waitting lines

Been here last September with my wife and three young children it was a great family day out queues wasn't too bad only thing I could say was my 3 year old wasn't allowed on as many rides but going back this September hopefully she should be that big taller would recommend for young families with kids to go Q's wasn't too bad in September weather was great we brought our own picnic food prices was a bit expensive

Park was good, Julia travel, no so much!

Booked the trip via hotel and was told to go to Julia travel office in Barcelona to start the trip. Staff were rude and unhelpful, no organisation or process to explain who to talk to / check in with. One disgruntled customer tried to complain and was treated to a full eye roll from the staff member. Coach trip was ok but set off late (15 mins) with no explanation or apology from the driver. In summary the park was good, if not a bit past it’s best, especially the water park, but I won’t be using Julia travel again.

Great Adventure Park!

Great park to go with friends and family, I went with the package that included bus and ticket, we entered without facing any queue, a comfortable and air-conditioned bus. The Park is large and themed, we enjoyed the park to the fullest! The price of the food is not as expensive as we imagined, it has several healthy food options according to the theme of the park sections.

A MUST VISIT

My fiance and I were in Spain for a whole week and decided to take a day to visit one of Europe's theme parks. It was nothing short of amazing! We are from Florida where you wait in long lines at Disney's theme parks for just one ride but not this park. I mean the longest wait was 30 minutes and some no wait at all. We had a blast.

Good theme park

The park was great but the transportation to the park was not. They didn’t tell us where they were going to park when it came time to pick us up and we were wandering around trying to find the bus.

Best day ever!

On our trip to Europe we have visited PortAventura and it was amazing! We could stay here whole day,so many things to do and try.

The concept of the park is all wrong. You pay around 50eur for at all day park pass for all the rides...... or not exacly, some of the rides you need to pay anyway. But most crazy is the express pass you can buy additionaly. for 33eur you can skip the line and enter fasttrack...?????? normal line is for that reason going very slow as all fasttrack going first, and front seats are only for fasttrack........ never in this park again.

<p>We had a brilliant day. We went there with a friend from the UK and her young son, who is more like our nephew and we had the best time. There were no lines at the rides and the ones we went on we're all really fun, tip wear bathers because you will get very wet. The food was remarkably good for this type of venue and the day culminated in a Halloween parade that we weren't expecting. All around it was one of our best days. Go have fun you won't regret it.</p>

The pressure from the open window on my ears was painful. Also, we were told the bus would leave at 7:45PM. We waited for people to come back until 8:30PM. If I would have known that I would have stayed in the park longer.</p>

We purchased the Express access tickets for the amusement park when we were onsite so if we would have had the ability to purchase these from your agent over the phone that would have been even more of a bonus. <p>Loved our experience at portaventura. Went on atleast 7 rides within 2 hours. The longest we queued was 15 minutes for the biggest rides.. quickest queues I've ever witnessed. The rides were amazing and awesome. Would definitely recommend making your own way there</p>

However would advise that the bus does leave promptly upon return and we actually missed it (totally our own fault), however there is a train station at the theme park that does run to Barcelona. It costs 18 euros for a one way ticket which is not too bad, but found out that you can buy a return and park entry for 45 euro per person, so will definitely recommend this over the bus.</p>

<p>Me and my husband traveled to Barcelona is August of 2013. The PortAventura Trip was wonderful! We were jetted lagged for a bit of our stay and had previously order 8am tickets. Needless to say, we overslept and missed our departure time. However, the people at Julia Travels (the company organizing the trip) were so nice and accommodating. We called explaining that we overslept and they allowed for us to get on the later departure bus that day. The trip was well organized and everything transitioned very smoothly! PortAventura was very fun, with awesome rollercoasters. I most certainly suggest booking this activity!</p>

<p>Theme park was fantastic. Slightly disappointed that after purchasing the Barcelona card there was a 20% discount card on entry to the park. Also we ended up catching the train back which took an Hour and cost only 16 Euros for 2 people. We arrived at 9.30 so waiting until 7pm to catch the coach back was far too long especially having purchased Express tickets for 25Euros which can be used once on each ride. An absolute must as the parks peak period is in the morning when literally everyone arrives, waiting time for some rides reached 3 hours. This died down by midday.</p>

<p>This is basically just the transportation to the park and back - about 1.5 hours drive each way and the entrance ticket in the park. The park itself is truly worth it. It has something for everyone, so all the family will be happy. We ended up buying the express cards for an additional 25 eur each in order to get one express entrance for 10 of their best rides. Express entrance means you don't have to wait in line. It was worth the extra price, as the lines are absolutely horrendous -even one hour waiting time for some of the rides.</p>

The truth is that it is a super fun park but too expensive to only stay 3 days for the plane and everything.
