Picasso Museum Guided Tour

Definitely worth a visit!

The Picasso Museum is very well laid out according to his painting periods. We enjoyed our tour by our guide, Josef. It was particularly interesting to see Picasso’s many versions of Velasquez’s “Las Maninas”.

Tour review

Tour guide very knowledgeable. However first a woman handed out our audio equipment, but she never said who she was or that she was with the tour group or talked to any of us that had been waiting there for quite a while. Then the gentleman tour guide came. He was very knowledgeable and did a great job except that he went from room to room very quickly and left people without checking for them and additionally, the tour started extremely late. Disappointing in tour set up, however, loved the museum and information.

Don’t need the guide for this museum

The guide took us through each room rather than focusing on few select pieces and thus felt long. Since the museum is not that big, you can tour the museum on your own.

Avoid Julia’s travel in Barcelona. Disorganized and unresponsive

We have never encountered a problem with a tour through Viator until now. We purchased a walking tour along with the Picasso museum. We received an email saying walking tour had been cancelled. Now the tour would be 90 mins instead of 2 hrs without any compensation. At this time it was too late to obtain Picasso tickets independently so we decided to keep our tour reservation. We received conflicting information regarding meeting place. Person meeting guide and group arrived 30 minutes after appointed time. No answer to email, text or calls placed. Guide was on time but Julia travel rep was apologetic or helpful. She passed out audio device but was rude to guide. The guide was pleasant and knowledgeable but tour was not what we signed up for. With proper notice that part of the tour was cancelled we could have done the museum on our own for half the cost. Highly recommend avoiding Julia’s travel tours ( to no fault of the guide).

Picasso’s Early Years

We were delighted to walk through the ancient streets of Barcelona to arrive at Picasso’s most beloved gift to Barcelona. His early works including sketches, family history, his passions and his periods were gifted to Barcelona by himself out of love for the city and its residents. This is a must see to understand another side of Barcelona’s people and history. It’s a must see!

No tour but still able to get our museum tickets.

Found out tour was canceled when we arrived at the meeting place. But luckily they still gave us the museum tickets and refunded the difference. The young ladies working the desk seemed very anxious telling us, but were very nice and seemed very relieved when we weren't upset. Got our tickets and enjoyed our visit to the museum!

Great tour

Wonderland walking through the Born neighborhood and hearing about the history of Barcelona. Our guide Marc was knowledgable and well versed in picasso

Great tour for the price

Our guide was very informative and pleasant. I wish there was more time added to the walking tour as it was very fast paced! Early in the morning was great for walking the streets without traffic and crowds.

Tour MISTAKE

This company cannot be trusted. We booked this tour on May 22, 2023 for a June 10th tour. We received an email saying that the time had changed which we replied was fine with us. Upon arrival, our names were NOT on the list! I am still in email communication with Julia Travel, who has now said that they were not responsible for our refund, but another company, Remaz Tours is. It is now June 25, 2023 and I have yet to receive any other communication from either company. They owe me $112.98. DO NOT use this company.

Picasso museum portion good, El Born tour not good

While we enjoyed the Picasso Museum portion of the tour, we did not feel satisfied with the tour of El Born. We were hoping to hear a lot more about Picasso’s time living there.

A lovely walk and talk

I really enjoyed the walk through the Born neighbourhood. Picasso museum is always a great experience.

Good walking tour. No live guide at museum.

The tour guide, Gabby, was very good and the Born walk was pleasant. I was under the impression we would have ave an actual guide for the museum tour but it was just the audio device provided by the museum. The meeting point is a little tricky to find and was apparently wrong on the Trip Advisor site for some guests.

Museum is great, walking tour just ok.

Our guide did provide some interesting local color during the walking tour, specifically concerning the citadel and the mammoth in the park, and got us in to see the ruins from Born. But he didn’t have anything useful to say about Picasso or the museum, didn’t get the tour started on time, and had trouble getting us in to the museum on time.

El Born and Picasso

Raoul was great, he knows his stuff and makes it fun an interesting! Nice pace and great that we could stay longer in the museum after he shares his expertise. Fun time! Love the El Born area too seems well suited for Picasso!

Tour cancelled at the last minute without explanation

I booked this tour for 4 people months ahead of time. A few days before the tour date, the Withlocals guide (Elvira) texted to say that she could not lead the tour but would try to find a substitute and, if she couldn't, she would provide information on getting the tickets to the museum online. I never heard back from her. Then, two days before the tour, I got an email from Withlocals saying the tour was cancelled and couldn't be rescheduled. This is not acceptable service. Do better.

Great Guide!!

We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide was fantastic & very knowledgeable!! He was very passionate & well educated on Picasso & the Gothic history. We were also lucky enough to catch up again that afternoon with our guide as he also did the Gaudi tour. We did have one downside however, our original tour paperwork (from travel agent) mentioned that our tour included breakfast. But our tour voucher received after the actual booking was made & paid for did not. We didn’t realise this till we looked at the voucher the morning of the tour. So we missed breakfast & were starving by the end of the tour.

Truly awful

Lies lies and More lies We turned up at 8.15 for a guided tourthere was no guide no body turned up until 9.15 When they did they didn’t help us refused to help and told me to go to the head office where she told me no one else would help me either. Do not go anywhere near this company

Informative

Our guide knew her stuff and made us feel comfortable during a bit of a crazy time in Barcelona (protests)! She was great.

Picasso museum and Gothic quarter tour

The Gotic quarter and Picasso museum tour was outstanding. Our guide, Carlos, was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I didn't know much about Picasso, but Carlos was a great teacher. Thanks Carlos.

Picasso Museum and walk thru Gothic Quarter

The tour started with getting tickets from Julia Travels at 54 La Rambla at 8:30 am. We got the tickets and the guide showed up promptly. Julia Travels shares the office at this location with another agency. So the name Julia travel is not on the shop front. Julia travel should mention this in the email. We got there a little early hoping to have some coffee in the neighborhood. Big mistake. Once we got off the taxi, we were followed by some shady characters that scared us and we quickly dived into a coffee shop nearby to escape undesirable encounter. Take umbrellas whenever there is a walk involved. It started raining and we were not prepared. We bought umbrellas in a shop during our walk. The guide did his best to do his job during the rainy walk. We got to the Picasso museum at the end of our walk. The guide did a pretty good interpretation of the paintings. We left after the tour at the museum.

Fantastic guide

Guide made this side trip excellent. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. Gave him $10 euro tip. That says it all. Embarrassed his name escapes me. Jet lag and all. Could have skipped the breakfast but guide joined us with coffee and provided good info and directions around Barcelona.

Title Misleading

We really enjoyed this tour but to say that it includes breakfast is misleading. At the beginning of the tour, our tour guide referred to it as brunch and asked if we had all had a good breakfast because we'd be walking a lot. The "meal" was at the end of everything else, the amount of food we were offered was minimal, and the service was so slow that some people just left. I would take the tour again because it was very interesting and our tour guide was very knowledgeable, but I would eat breakfast first.

Picasso Museum, Gothic tour and breakfast

The tour guide was excellent. She took her time and shared great information. I did not know a lot about Picasso and she helped us see things from the artist perspective. The walking tour was informative and that part of the city is older and beautiful. I could have wondered around there all day. However, the breakfast was not worth it. Do not do the breakfast part. The guide did all she could but the restaurant at the concert hall was horrible. They seemed put out by having to serve us. They told the guide they were busy and could not help her now. At one point they just walked off while she was talking. They did bring us coffee/water and we had a small sandwich. Guide and tour was great! Unless they have a different restaurant I would pass.

Excursion manquée

Nous avons eu 5 minutes de retard au point de rencontre avec le guide. L’endroit était très difficile â trouver même avec notre téléphone. Nous nous sommes rendus par nous-mêmes au Musée Picasso. Ils n’ont pas accepté mon courriel de vous pour l’entrée (TripAdvisor) J’ai donc du payer une 2ième fois pour l’entrée. 25€ Vous pouvez me rembourser ce montant? Merci

Visite annulé avec perte d’argent.

Très déçu de votre réaction suite à une visite mal coordonnée. Nous sommes venu du Canada, alors il était important pour nous que tout soit claire. Nous étions présent à l’adresse indiquée du musée Picasso. Personne n’était là pour nous diriger. Payer plus de 100€ pour nous c’était une très grosse somme d’argent.

La visite du quartier puis du musée Picasso avec olga escribano était passionnante La guide est sympathique les explications sont vivantes le commentaire des oeuvres très pertinent Et la visitecen français est un gros plus on comprend toujours plus de choses dans sa langue natale A recommander chaudement

Me encantó a visita!

El guía llamado Fernando nos mostró el barrio Gótico de Barcelona y el museo Picasso durante 2h y 30 minutos más o menos el día 28 de febrero. Lo explicó con un toque de humor y la visita no se hizo nada pesada. Me fascinó su conocimiento sobre la ciudad y el pintor. Recomiendo mucho este tour,ya que, siendo temprano te ahorras la aglomeración de gente tanto en las calles como en el museo. Muchas gracias!

Hermoso, completo

Si queréis viajar a través del tiempo y visitar la pbra de Picasso, nada mas completo que ir al Gótico. Añoraras una historia que quizás no viviste, y se puede comenzar con el Palau de música, no es barato, pero vale la pena pagarlo. No dudar ni um segundo
