A Must See in Barcelona

This tour was wonderful starting with a short video and ending in the beautiful performance auditorium. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and best of all witty. He helped us see all the obvious and hidden beauties of the various locations we toured. The cost is very reasonable and the tour is definitely worth more than the ticket price.

It's a working theater!

We joined the 2pm guided tour of Palau de Musica. It will start with a short video and then there'll be a tour guide explaining about the different parts of the theater. The building itself was really nice, but I guess coming from Sagrada Familia, I wasn't blown away by it. There were many intricate glass decorations and other things that was beautiful, but for some reason, it fell short of my expectations. Overall, I would still recommend coming to this place, maybe watching a show next time.

Truly stunning and the tour was well worth the money.

This music venue is truly stunning and well worth taking time to see. We paid for the 1 hour guided tour (which we did via the website a couple of days before and it was straight forward to do) and I am very glad we did. You can visit without doing a tour of course but I thought the extra you got for the 20 Euro cost of the tour was well worth it. You start with a 10-minute presentation in one of the ground floor smaller music rooms which gives you a good background to the building, but probably more interesting insights from the famous musicians that have played here over the years why they like doing so. Then you get taken around the various floors of the theatre including the second level where the public are not allowed unless on a tour. And then at the top level you have a reserved section for the tours so you can sit away from the general public and have the amazing architecture explained to you.

Beyond expectations

This was one of our highlights in Barcelona. We had recommendations from others, so we made a special effort to include this in our itinerary, not really knowing much about it. We booked the first English tour of the day. We arrived early, so we were able to walk in and enjoy a coffee in their lovely cafe. The guided tour started promptly, with a short film and introduction from our enthusiastic guide. From there, our small group toured the Modernista building and all its glory. The guide ushered us to the roped-off area at the front of the auditorium where we were able to hear a pre-recorded piece of music. My only regret was not trying to get tickets to a performance.

Visit to the Palau Theatre

The guide did a good job on the history of the building and how it has been used through the years. Getting to hear the magnificent organ was an extra treat.

DON'T do the English GUIDED Tour

The building was classic and pretty but the Enlgish guided tour was something just better than awful. Not because of the accent but due to lack of content. First, the guide didn't elaborate on the architecture and the Catalan history, while just describing everything insipidly as 'special' and curtly reducing the Catalan history to its symbol of rose. Second, no much vivid explanation on the musicians and their works either. The guide seemed to assume the visitors to be knowledgeable about the stuff she was talking. Or she was at the other extreme of 'come on no one among you is gonna interested in this so I'll skip this to finish my job quickly'. In general, the guide was really in a rush while I couldn't understand why she was like that. She couldn't get the visitors immersed in the tour at all. Instead you feel she wasn't very confident in their beautiful building and music and she didn't understand why people were happy to spend their time visiting here. So she was soooo detached - and then how should us visitors be excited? If you cannot make the guided tour funny, I think at least you should make it informative and educational. 建筑很漂亮但是英语解说的真人导览非常不行，不是因为口音之类的问题，而是因为内容太泛泛而谈。第一是对建筑、历史的介绍太少，形容词不是special就是speacial，对加泰罗尼亚本地历史的介绍除了一个rose就没了；第二是对音乐的介绍预设听众懂得很多的样子；最重要的是导游态度很奇怪，看起来像为了完成任务很赶时间，完全不能调动访客的情绪，让人放松、投入地观赏。我觉得讲解枯燥一点可以理解，但就算不够有趣，枯燥而且重复无味，反复用几个词，还没有足够多的信息，让人听过了跟没听过一样学不到内容，就有点太敷衍了吧。

Wonderful Tour of the Palau de la Música Catalans

Great tour of an amazingly beautiful music venue. Our guide was excellent. The sample of music played by the organ was incredible!

Absolutely gorgeous and interesting concert hall

An absolute highlight of our time in Barcelona. Stunningly beautiful venue, and definitely worth taking the guided tour for many details about the history and architecture. This ranks among the top three places we visited here. Only wish we could have experienced a concert here!

Definitely on the mist see list

Guided tour is a must! So many details to see and you won’t want to miss a single thing. To see a performance would be amazing but not available this trip. Our guide was very thorough and answered all questions.

The building itself is amazing. Our guide was knowledgeable and humorous, we learned a lot. Hearing the organ play was amazing, just loved that. Great little tour, would highly recommend it.

Gorgeous Music Venue in Barcelona

Beautiful venue. We were sad that we were unable to attend a concert—the timing just didn’t work out. We have already decided that when we next visit Barcelona, we’ll be getting tickets for a performance here.

Love the art and beauty of the architecture! Fun tour! Tour guide was great! Can’t recall her name, but she was great. Only down side, the headsets were a bit fuzzy and made it difficult to hear.

Not helpful

Palau de la Musica Catalana was great, app was not. Always difficult to open & failed totally at the site. Only got in because the ticket person used the transaction # in my email confirmation to find our tickets.

Interesting and worth the stop

Wow - super interesting, cool architecture, different from Gaudi. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and fun, answered all the questions. Really was worth the time. I would do this over the Sagrada Familia if you are tight for time. A real gem!

So glad my husband made me go

My husband really wanted to see the inside of this building after admiring the outside, so I finally agreed to go. Boy! Am I glad I did. The building is stunningly beautiful. Designed by the teacher of Gaudi, it incorporates so much color and surprises. I can't begin to describe it (and unfortunately I can't get TripAdvisor to accept my photos). Our tour guide was very interesting (and handsome).

Pretty, but not jaw-dropping

This is a pretty concert hall, colorful and unique. The guide did his best, but his English was poor and the audio kept cutting out/ breaking up. The tour was ok, but I was hoping for something more comprehensive and informative regarding the history and background of the Palau within the context of the Modernist movement. It was just a few anectodes here and there, nothing memorable. A nice stop is Barcelona, but 17 eur is way too much for what it is.

A must do on Barcelona trip

Such a beautiful building, needs to be visited. The guide was great and very approachable. The headphones provided meant you could hear everything explained when often on tours unless you are at the front you can miss out. Only negative for me personally was the amount of people. I like to take photos and when my tour finished the place was already full of another tour so impossible to do.

Make this a stop when in Barcelona.

I stumbled across this site wandering around the old town and once back to my room looked up the site. I thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour of Palau de la Musica. Lardi was informative, knowledgeable and engaging. This stunningly beautiful building was my favourite of all the sites I visited in Barcelona. I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to attend a performance in this gorgeous venue.

Celebration

What an amazing celebration of life and music. The guided tour was excellent. It was an ideal introduction to the city.

What a disappointment...

What a disappointment. The 10-minute "introductory" video did not work. The audio from the guide to the tour group was very poor. I kept cutting out. The guide tried to speak over the noise, but her voice just did not carry. We ended the tour in the balcony of the concert hall. We were only 52 minutes in from the "official" start of the tour, including the video delay. Some of our group didn't know the tour was over until we saw others handing in their earpiece. No wave from the tour leader...nothing. I had to turn in our earpieces to an employee on the main floor. If you really want to see the Palau, your best bet is the self-guided tour. As a music fan, I was really looking forward to hear the history of the Palau.

Surprisingly stunning

Fantastic tour by Emma in this stunning building. Well worth a visit. The inside and outside are both very interesting. I would love to return for a concert.

Lovely Palace - so worth the tour!

This palace is just beautiful! The architecture and design are amazing. The tour will start inside the cafe to the left (we had initial difficulty finding as missed the sign) After an educational short movie, your are taken inside for a tour of the building. There was an ongoing concert and we were able to stay to watch the performance. The light, stained glass and sculptures are truly amazing. The outdoor facade is harder to see and the palace is surrounded by other building. During the summer months, bring a fan.

Very good

Very good attraction. A very pleasant and informed tour leader. I would have given this a 5 rating if the tour leader arrived prior to the srart time, so we waited for a few minutes to get tickets validated and sort through the headsets. The tour was well worth it and we enjoyed it.

A true palace of music

We really enjoyed our guided tour around this beautiful venue. The guide was very enthusiastic and full of interesting insight. We were also fortunate to enjoy a live performance as a Jazz orchestra were rehearsing at the time of our visit, which allowed us to note that the acoustics were a match for the stunning decor. The cafe was also very good.

Well worth the visit. Simply beautiful. Knowledgeable guide. We highly recommend this tour. Beautiful architectural design.

Spectacular Interior, a Must-Do in Barcelona!

Definitely a must-do in Barcelona! Truly a spectacular interior! I had the Barcelona Card Modernista so just showed up without a reservation and got in the next guided tour (check timings online beforehand for tours in your language).

Would not recommend

Short film about its history. Then lots of talking by guide. Saw very little of the building. Disappointing.

Such a great tour filled with arts and history! Our female tour guide was so knowledgeable and interactive. Well recommended.

A lesser known gem

What an unexpected joy this place is - another amazing highlight in Barcelona's architectural heritage. I was interested to it by my sister, a keen singer, and I'm so glad we went. Shown round by their guide, who was knowledgeable, interesting and personable, it was a thoroughly enjoyable tour. The decoration - particularly the glass - has to be seen to be believed. I only wish we'd had time to attend a concert there, but I would definitely organise that if we were revisiting.

The entire interior was just spectacular. This place should be more widely publicized. I only knew about it through a friend who had been there.

Our guide was very enthusiastic in sharing the history and beauty of this place. And we experienced some of the best hot chocolate in the cafe.

Great place, bad directions

The directions were insufficient. Waited 45 minutes at the address given. Gave up, missed the tour. Went in on our own. Venue is beautiful, would have loved to have gotten the info and history.

My experience in Palau de la Musica with private tour, was amazing. We had an amazing guide Marko. He lead us thru the history of this amazing place with humour and so many interesting details. I would highly recommend to take exactly a private tour with Marko!

Amazing stained glass and spectacular setting for flamenco show!

THe Palau de la Música Catalana is certainly worth a visit! It is a spectacular building. Unfortunately there was scaffolding completely obscuring the outside of the building when we went, but the interior was gorgeous. We actually did not do the guided tour but instead bought tickets for a flamenco show. However you go, definitely worth seeing!
