Fun and easy way to learn about Barcelona

Great way to learn more about the history of Barcelona. Our group was friendly and our guide was entertaining. If you’re also someone who has a hard time connecting what you read in a guide book with what you see in front of you, I’d recommend this tour for an engaging, educational experience. I do not think I would have adequately appreciated these landmarks without help.

We took the Gothic area tour and it was amazing. Although we have been to Barcelona before we learned and saw so much more. Jarrod was a perfect guide. He brought the history alive and the 2.5 hours flew by. We highly recommend this wonderful tour.

Trio of Gothic Walkers

I really enjoyed touring the winding streets of the Gothic area with Noah. He not only pointed out the major sights but had so may interesting stories about the area we would not have heard without him. Our tour ended up only having three participants but in no was did Noah make up feel rushed.

Walking the gothic quarter

Excellent walking tour with Julie. She was informative and tried to keep it light so it didn’t feel like a boring history lesson. She was mindful to keep the group together at all times. We had a few short breaks to grab a snack or go to the bathroom if needed. I would highly recommend this company for a walking tour.

Great tour - great guide!

Altho I had wandered thru the Gothic quarter several times before this tour, Ram added so much more insights and pointed out things I would never have noticed. You could tell he liked what he did, as he was very well-informed, and had a very gracious manner with the group. I highly recommend this

A lovely experience!

We have tried 'free tours' in the past, but they have often been short and sometimes disappointed. Instead we really enjoyed the tour conducted by the very entertaining Noah, who made it fun and engaging for the children (14 and 9) too. The two hours flew by! We definitely got a greater appreciation of our surroundings without reading through pages of a guide book, but with the vivid words of a charming person. It was time (and money) well-spent!

Not suitable for kids older than 5

I’m so sorry but the tour was simply awful. It needs to be advertised for kids under 5 who may enjoy it. But any older kids will find it terribly dull. It went on for too long there was not much substance and the adults did not get much out of it either. We hardly walked either and didn’t see much of the gothic quarter unfortunately. We really needed this to be a good tour as this was our only full day in Barcelona but we were all underwhelmed sadly and felt we wasted precious few hours. Kathryn is a nice lady and we are very sorry we can’t rate the tour any higher

Fun and informative tour!

The tour was very informative and fun! Noah does not only have a deep knowledge of the history and places we visited, he did an amazing job explaining and keeping everyone engaged. He was nice and funny! I recommend this tour with Noah to everyone!

Not great for older kids

It was a great little tour for kids age 4-8. My 10 and 12 were far too old, and thus were not great fans of the activities and the pace. It’s too bad our large group was not divided into older and younger kids…. Our guide was lovely but the tour was aimed at the little little ones. .

Great into to gothic Barcelona

Jarrod introduced us to the interesting and complex history of Barcelona by way of compelling stories. He took us through many interesting paths, streets and buildings in such a way that time passed so quickly. We commend the tour and Jarrod very much!

Informed amble through historic Barcelona

Lisa was an engaged and interesting guide, leading us through the Old Town, and providing a broad history of Barcelona. She provided a particular focus on the history and culture of the Catalan. This was a great way to start our visit to Barcelona and to Catalonia.

Excellent experience

Noah was an excellent guide. He was very knowledible and able to impart that knowledge with humour. We got a brief history lesson about Spain, Catalonia, and Barcelona, as well as tips on where to eat and other places to see.

We loved the way Barcelona and it's history were brought to life. So many cultures have influenced the city and we got.

We did the Gothic Tour March 24. Our guide, Julie, was fantastic. Knowledgeable, interesting and fun. We were shocked at the end of the tour when she told us that it was her first solo tour without shadowing another guide.

A terrific introduction to the old city of Barcelona

We did the Gothic Quarter walking tour with Ann Marie. This was an absolutely excellent tour from beginning to end. Our guide spoke excellent English, and by the end of the tour she knew everyone’s name, country of origin, and even included some of the tour members as actors in parts of the various stories she was telling about the history and origin of Barcelona. We absolutely loved this tour and we would highly recommend it. It provided a perfect introduction to the old city of Barcelona, which stops at many surprising and interesting points that one would pass by if one was not on a tour of this type.

Great experience!

Our tour guide Miguel was excellent! Very engaging tour. We had some young children in our group and Miguel was very good at glossing over some of the gorier details of various stories for them while still making the stories clear for the adults in the group. A really good introduction to the area we were staying in in Barcelona. He also had great recommendations for places to go and eat after the tour.

A must for anyone visiting Barcelona!

If you don’t go on this tour, you will walk aimlessly around the Gothic quarter not understanding what you are seeing! Good fun, friendly and hugely informative- a must for anyone visiting Barcelona!

Great tour for kids and adults alike

We had such a good time on our private tour. We were a family of six -- two kids, two parents, and two grandparents. It can be hard to find activities that work for all of us. But this tour really hit the spot. Our guide Katharyn was so good with the kids, making sure that they were engaged, and tailoring her efforts to each kid individually. But she did this without sacrificing the content for the rest of us. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and culture of this vibrant, colorful part of the city. She also gave us very helpful tips for the rest of our visit. Our tour was absolutely one of the highlights of our visit.

Lovely tour for children

A lovely tour for our two children (both 7 years old). Lisa, our tour guide, was very entertaining and kept children busy all the time. The tour is quite child-centric, with fun facts and fun stories easily accessible to children of this age. Both our kids enjoyed it greatly!

Historical walk of Gothic Quarter

It was a very informative and interesting Ghotic quarter walking tour, our guide Ann Marie is a wonderful human being with detailed knowledge and passion driven. We were a small group and thoroughly enjoyed the walk with the vast information she shared. The Roman and the Catalan architecture is mind-blowing and vast. Inorder to understand the various monuments around, we need to know their history. Ann Marie was very passionate in making us understand that history

Great tour

Such a great, informative tour. Albert was very knowledgeable and friendly and gave us the histories and current affairs of all the places we visited. I loved the gothic quarter, the different architecture styles and all the backgrounds of the monuments. The only negative I would say is that they should clearly indicate that this is a kids/family tour because it got annoying at certain points where you couldnt hear the guide because the parents were trying to entertain the kids and the kids were seeking attention. There was no mention of it when I booked on the Runner Bean website. and there's no kid friendly sights on this tour.

Entertaining and informative

Very fun walk through the Gothic Quarter. Learned a lot about Catalan culture in a relaxed way. A mix of ancient history and current events. Lots of recommendations for more things to do.

Excellent tour

Our family (2 adults and 3 college-aged children) toured with Miguel. He was outstanding -- knowledgeable, witty and fluent in English. He was very informative and engaged each of the attendees in the group. Friends recommended this Runner Bean tour to us, and we now strongly recommend it as well.
