DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE

I purchased Hola Barcelona transit pass online a few days prior to my arrival in Barcelona. I picked up my card on day 1 of my 2 day layover. The card NEVER worked. I took the card back to the location I picked it up from. I was told I need a new card. I was directed to go to a train station to speak to customer service from TMB. There was no one in the office. After 3 attempts to get this resolved I purchased a second card at the station. This 2 day Hola Barcelona transit pass cost me double the value. This was a very disappointing experience.

DO NOT BUY THIS ONLINE!!

Buy this card in person if possible. Unbelievably poor customer support. I mistakenly bought a 3 day Hola Barcelona card instead of a 4 day one for my 2 daughters (online on the official site on 19/04/24). I reached out to customer service and asked if I could get a refund. I received a response on 20/04/24 informing me it was perfectly alright to do so and was provided with a link to start a refund request. The refund form itself was ridiculous (asking for my passport number to get a refund is irrelevant. I was not the traveller). I bought the 4 day card which my daughters used as I waited for a refund for the 3 day card. 1 month later, I still do not have a refund and no communication from customer service except an initial automated message IN SPANISH (this was a tourist card?) 4 days after I emailed. Buy this card online at your own risk and pray you do not encounter any issues.

Intransparant service provider

I bought a 3 day transport pass on december 23rd of last year for out visit end of april. Pass apparently expired after 90 days and i could purchase a new one. Never was this clearly stated during purchase process. No service, no return of purchase. Very intransparant

Hola Barcelona

The buses were totally fine, but sometimes the subway gates were unresponsive. I do not know what the cause is. I also wish the map that came with the product had a little more information on famous places.

Great value for money

An absolute must for getting around. So easy to use the metro and this travel card is such good value. We were in Barcelona from a Friday to a Tuesday, and got a 5 day travel card at 35 euro per person, fabulous value for money. Also can be used on the bus. Great advantage was that it covers the metro from the airport to the centre.

Very disappointed!

Hunted all over Metro station at Six Pitti Fountain as instructed. Never found a place to get the cards. Very dissatisfying experience. Think you should reimburse us Seth and Bonnie - 2 70 year old Americans

Not worth the night travel.

The pass does not work during the night hours - After 2400 - severely disappointed as I have bought 72hours but do not get 72 hours???! Am I going to get hours carried over as I apparently can’t use the pass on the bus because it’s not the right colour… Ridiculous Metro/bus pass is worth it but if you use it in the evening- don’t bother

misleading advertising

I have bought 48h cards for me and my family (4 cards) and we have discovered once arrived that our cards are not working on the bus we need to reach our accomodation (bus L95-L94), even if we stay in zone 1; so we had to add two more tickets everyday (5 euros) to go in the center spending more than expected, even more than we had spent without this useless card. So be carefull when you buy this card, because in Barcellona there are more bus company than TMB serving the metropolitan area, and if you don't stay close to the center it could be a mess. I’ m not happy at all about that, because the bus restriction is not clearly explained in the documentation they provide. I immediately wrote the helpdesk, and after few minutes they simply replied that, as written in the website, only bus TMB are included: we are tourist, we don’t live in Barcelona, how can we know that there is more than one company serving the metropolitan area? This is should clearly explained in the website!

Ronda, Marbella &Reservatauro.

Two of the items that were supposed to be included were not. The wine tasting and the reservatauro. Would not use them again. We only drove by Marbella.

Good ticket bad experience redeeming

The list of places to trade in the paper voucher is wrong. There are places listed that no longer have a tourism booth like Sant. The tourism booth in T1 at BCN next to the ticket machines for the Metro is not open (there’s no sign directing you to the open location upstairs near the chapel). Very frustrating and time consuming to redeem the voucher due to the lack of information.

Easy To Use And Good Value

Great value and very easy to use. A ticket for 72 hours was around €22 on line in advance inc 10% off. The metro (red diamond sign) is a good 15 min walk from the airport. It is signposted but seems like a trek when you land. Don’t go to the rail station by mistake like us muppets! When you buy online you get a code. Go to the machine at the Metro, type in your code it gives you tickets. Really easy to navigate, clean, we went in Feb so it may be less busy but we felt safe and people were very nice. Often standing up for us and insisting we sit down! If you include your transfer to and from the airport it is amazingly good value and well worth it. Hop on and off, no limit to travel.

Value for money, just not easy to locate the machine at the airport and print put the tickets

I bought the 4 day pass as it seemed goof value for using the metro in barcelona. Getting the actual card was challenging.... you have to go to a designated machine which I wouldn't have found at the airport had there not been someone to ask! Then it wasn't clear which number I had to put into the machine to retrieve my tickets, the one on my email confirmation was not the one to use but actually the number on the app... there wasn't good instructions on how to get the tickets either. Keep your ticket in pristine condition as any slight bends to the ticket causes problems at the gate which we found out. 2xtickets for 4 day was €56 I think which I thought was value for money, we did use the metro quite a but, but the metro isn't the easiest to get about, it needs more sign posting around like you find in Paris or London. Take a long time to travel from the airport into Barcelona itself and wonder if I should have gotten a taxi instead!

Frustrating experience

It is so much easier to buy the ticket at the machine in the station rather than buying in advance. It is very difficult to find where to pick them up as the instructions are not clear from Viator. We lost a day and had to buy extra tickets as no one at the airport knew where we should pick up tickets…. Very frustrating and a waste of time.

Maxing out - great value

Terrific value and very easy too buy and use - if you move around as much as I do when I go to a city this is great - I used on buses and metro and there are options to use on trips out of the city - though I didn't on this occasion as I had enough to cover. The public transport system in Barcelona is really good - regular and running pretty much all day and night.In conjunstion with the increasingly sophisticated route finding on Google maps - where routes to a destination can be car. walking or public transport - I maxed out on the use of this great card over the 2 days I had it- (there are other time periods available).

im highly recommended this card to use. u can purchase from anywhere (Airport, Metro stations & Tourism Kiosk). it cover (Train, Metro, Bus and Funiclar) except aerobus.

I really didn’t use the card much as I was able to walk to most places. I am sure if I did need to use it, the card would be worth the while.

Picked them up from the information centre very quickly. Only had to do one change coming from the Airport into the city.

Hola Barcelona Travel Card is the best tour deal in Barcelona. You have unlimited use of public transportation for the duration. When you disembark from the airplane, walk to the airport Metro station and buy it from the ticket machine (which has an English option and payment by credit card). Do not waste your time and money buying it from a store in the airport. Your fare from the airport to downtown is included, so have immediately saved 5 Euros relative to other ways to get into the city. Although bus times are not always reliable, the Metro and train times seem pretty good. With this pass, travel from sight to sight without the need for a tour guide - just use a tourist map and take the bus. Go to the the various mountain parks and cathedrals, and eat outside of the expensive and touristic La Rambla area.

Run around.

We walked to a check in point to be gathered with a tour of City Hall, no one had any knowledge of the Hola bus transfers. So, this remained unused.

A must for getting the most out of Barcelona!

From the first moment we arrived we realised that travel passes were a must. Although many places were only a short walk from our hotel we really needed to use the public transport to get a really good experience of the city. We bought 4 day passes for about 30 euros each and hoped on and off buses and metros, taking even short rides to save some walking. We saved so much and saw places we wouldn't have seen without them The public transport in Barcelona is excellent and by catching bases we were able to see so much. We bought the passes online and it was easy to download the app. Unfortunately we had to collect the passes from a metro station ticket machine. We had to make a special trip as we were catching a bus that day and not the metro. Collecting the passes was easy but I wish you could just use an app on your phone. Definitely a must for sightseeing though, saved us a lot of money!

Never received code

Never received the code and they refused a refund because I took longer than 15 days to request it. Waste of money.

Great value for money - Hola Barcelona Travel Card

This travel card is great. I bought the 4-day card for €31 at the tourist information office at the airport and it covers journeys to and from the airport and all metro services within Barcelona. I can highly recommend this to all tourists.

Brilliant Travel Card

Fully recommend the Hola Barcelona travel card. It made our trip much more enjoyable to have quick and easy access to transport, and to know that we had paid a lump sum so weren’t spending loads of money. The taxis in Barcelona can be tricky to get a hold of given the busy nature of the city so the buses were perfect for this. I would note however that the night buses aren’t included in this ticket. This is good to know, but the ticket is still worth it. Useful for both getting to the main attractions and more obscure areas of the city that transport such as the tour bus don’t reach. The buses were really quite busy whilst we were there but we could always get on and at the end of the day it is a large and popular European city so this was to be expected.

Confusing Service

Tried to buy a 48 hour card at the nearest station. The ticket machine didn't provide the option. We had to buy a ticket to get to a metro station. It was a stinking hot day and we went to the information office at the metro station. We went inside the air conditioned office and were issued a ticket. Then we were sent outside the office to wait for our number to be called. Madness. When our number came up we were sent to another machine. We finally bought our tickets and it was fine. The issue was that there are more than one type of ticket machine with different options and no one at the help desks had the language skills to explain it to non spaniards. I'm all for supporting the local language but if Spain wants to receive tourist dollars it should invest in multi lingual people to assist.

Really great for transportation

Easy to use and really good value for transportation only. It doesn’t cover the direct bus (aerobús) from airport but you can take the metro instead, or add that aerobús bundle. It doesn’t cover nightbuses which start with N. In the airport, in order to get this card head in the direction of metro and you’d see the machines. It cost me about 29 euros for four days on their official website.

Hola Barcelona thieves

Had a 96h (4 days) travel card, but was not allowed to travel at 11 PM as it was not valid at night. I cantidad find that limitación anywhere but it help very little. Thieves!

An interesting and valuable addition to a city break experience

Indispensable addition to a weekend break in Barcelona. A stress free and straightforward way to explore the city and cover ground efficiently. Frequent service on the Metro. Also Funicular, trams and bus services included.

Non existent customer service

Terrible customer experice. I bought the Hola aerobus combined ticket onlire. Which consist of 2 type of tickets. When one of them for aerobus the QR code does not work at all. I have to pay in end for the trip. When i got back home and tried to claim refund for the aerobus portion, the cusomer services team took aa long time(nearly 2 weeks) to reply and in end said they cannot refund. This is blatant cheating as they never delivered on what was sold. (a working QR code) Buy tickets online at your own risk. Esp thise that involved prepaid QR codes tickets.

Highly recommended

It is convenient and easy to use. I booked it online and took the ticket at the first Metro station. I used it to go in all attractions of Barcelona.

Useful for getting around Barcelona

Super easy to use, and valid for trams, buses and the metro (including the regional service to and from Barcelona Airport) we used this extensively for two days while visiting Barcelona. While the city is quite easy to get around on foot, we found hopping on and off public transport was quick and easy to do.

Never ever

Terrible product supported by people who do not speak English which amazes me since it’s pitched as travellers mostly speaking English as an internationally excepted language. Card sometimes did not work. Zones are confusing. You get zone 1 on the S line which isn’t the same as zone 1 on the R line. Product doesn’t work in all S zone 1 areas. Bus to AirPort also conveniently not included. Cost me an additional 14€ on top of the cost of the 72hour pass. Will never again buy this product.

This card was such a good spend. You are able to pick it up at the airport so you are good to straight away.

A travel bargain.

Voucher redeemed at Tourist Information in the airport giving 48 hours unlimited use of public transport from the time of its first use - in our case covering the three days of our visit.

A good way to get around

Excellent way to experience Barcelona, a big city, too big to walk all day long. We bought a 96 hour ticket that took us to and from the airport and to all the places we wanted to visit. The app also did a good job, giving us suggestions how to get wherever we wanted, also the time. Bus, transfer to metro, transfer to bus etc. One thing that surprised me was that people with no luggage, prams or ailments insisted on using the elevator rather than escalator in the metro. We had a pram and wished people would warm up the the escalator more in Barcelona.

Do not buy this card!

Bought a 3 day/72hr card. Everything I read told me it would last 72 hrs from when it was first used. Mine stopped working after 52 hrs. I contacted Hola Barcelona, as I bought the ticket directly from them. They provided absolutely no help other than telling me to speak to the staff in the metro (there were no staff at some stations). I found some staff at one metro, none of them spoke English, and so I used my very beginner Spanish to describe the problem, to which 2 different staff members told me that the 3 days was up. Cos the 3rd was day 1, 4th was day 2, and 5th was day 3. We had this conversation at 2pm in the afternoon so I don’t think they were implying that the 5th was my last calendar day, because otherwise I should have still been able to use the card for the rest of the day and they would have realised that and helped me get a new card. They were really trying to argue with me that my 72 hours were up because the 3rd at 8am (when I first used the ticket, which would be 0 hours to anyone with a normal capability to do elementary maths), was day 1, and then the 4th at 8am was 48 and the 5th at 8am was 72. I had to give up because how can you argue with people that are that stupid? Not to mention they both yelled at me in Spanish and made me feel like absolute crap about the whole situation, like somehow I was the stupid one in this. In conclusion, don’t buy these cards cos they don’t work and the customer service you’ll get is among the worst I’ve ever experienced. I’m going to try and take it up with my credit card and dispute the card under false advertising. The worst part is I have no money left cos I’m heading home tomorrow and thought my card would get me to the airport no trouble. So not only is the product awful, they’ve left me in a very precarious situation and not apologised once.

Easy and cheap way around Barcelona

Easy and cheap way to travel around Barcelona. I found out about the card through the official public transport site (TMB). The only thing is, I wish getting hold of the card was easier, purchasing it online is easy however then you need to find a station where you can retrieve the card using a code. At the airport it was not very straight forward and involved a long walk without any signposts. I think more people would take advantage of the card if it was available on an app like a QR code. Otherwise I highly recommend.

Confusing product description and the paper card didn't always work

We travel as a family and bought 96hours card for each of us, hoping to save time and cost for our 5 days trip in Barcelona. I would say it does save the trouble of queuing for tickets, only when the cards work well. Sometimes you may spend more time waiting for the Metro staff to come for help than queuing for tickets. For cost saving it really depends on your planning and the way you travel from/to the airport. 1. Confusing description The websites says it includes Montjuïc funicular, which as a tourist I naturally thought it is the transportation up to the top of mountain Montjuic. But later we found out it is not. It only means the short railway from the Metro station to the Montjuic cable car station ticket office and the cable car fee is another 9Euro for one way. You can take the bus to the mountain top though. Maybe it is my misunderstanding but it can be more helpful if the description can clearly states that it is the railway connecting to the cable car station and cable car to the mountain top is not included. 2. Hassles to collect the card We bought online and followed the instruction to collect the cards from the machine at any metro station. Unfortunately, we could not find anywhere on the screen for card collection. We called the staff for assistance. She was very helpful and told us that there should be normally a button on the left lower corner of the screen to collect the card, but somehow it was not there, probably due to system problem. We tried at another station and it didn't work either. Finally, we got our cards printed after 4 or 5 hours at the third station we visited. 3. The paper card did not work While we thought it would be easy to travel around with our cards finally printed now, one of our cards did not work on our second Metro trip. We have to call the staff again for help and he let us in. Then the card did not work on the bus. We decided to ask for a new card to be printed at the metro station after we got off the bus since there are still several days ahead. But the Metro staff refused to do so because the card suddenly worked again! This magic card switched on/ off several times during the rest of our journey.

Family Card is well worth it

We purchased the 5 day Barcelona Family card and we are so glad we did!. We visited two attractions each day and it more than paid for itself. So ok it doesn't include La Sagrada Familia or Park Guell but it does include so much else, including the amusement park at Tibidabo, a boat trip, the quirky Wax Museum, the Zoo, the aquarium, Poble Espanyol and CosmoCaxia. Loved it all. The travel card makes travel a doddle - we used the Metro, the trams and the buses. Well worth it. We ordered online and printed out the email before we left and then exchanged the email for our tickets at the Tourist Office at the airport.

Amazing hola barcelona travel card.

It was very useful when we wanted to see 2-3 different attractions far from each other.Specially when the average temperature was 28 C.and walking long distanve iis nott a good option.

This pass simplified our transportation needs knowing we could get where we needed to go. Note, the office for pickup is underground.👍😉

Consider how many Trips you Need

The card does not work on the Aeroport bus. It did work for us at all the ther trains and subways. Not sure if we got our money's worth, maybe the 10 trip ticket would have been enough for us for 4 days.

don`t waste your money

The tour guide was very rude, the bus is extremely slow and takes ages to get to the pretty disappointing spots and sooo expensive, definitely wouldn't reccomend.

Great idea

This is an excellent option for travel around the city. No stress about running out of funds on your card or which options to use.

WATCH OUT! TURIST TRAP!

STOP! This is a trap! first of all most of BCN can be done by walking, also if you don't feel like walking late night the card does not work! YES! bus PM wont take the card. TIP: Take the 10 rides one, it can be used on PM buses too and lasts for quite a while.

Brilliant ticket to have.

Usually we always just get a taxi from the airport, however as we were going to be using the Metro quite a lot to get around Barcelona we decided to get a Hola Barcelona metro pass as it can be used on the Metro from the airport. We got the 72 hour pass which was brilliant, got us from the airport to our hotel, numerous trips over the four days we were there and back to to airport when we were going home. Definitely one of the best purchases we made. Worked perfectly with no issues. Easy to buy online before you go and just enter your booking number in the red tickets machines to get your tickets when you arrive.
