Exploring Montserrat: Small Group Hike and Monastery Visit

Great place to spend the day.

Monserrat is a very beautiful and peaceful place to visit. We really enjoyed our hike there. Our guide, Stepan, was very professional, patient, knowledgeable and detailed during our tour. The vehicle was very clean and he was a great driver. He also had great recommendations.

Experience of a lifetime!

Foivos is an EXCELLENT guide- The night before, he sent a message prior to the trip to ensure I had everything prepared for the day trip (sunscreen, hat, jacket, snacks, water, etc). He is very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He took us on a gorgeous hike and explained key historic features of Montserrat , I learned a lot, got a great workout and enjoyed the gorgeous 180 views of nature. I HIGHLY recommend booking this tour with Foivos, it was the highlight of my Barcelona trip!

Great experience at Montserrat.

My wife and I really enjoyed our outdoor adventure with Estephan, exploring and hiking the scenic views of Montserrat and monastery. It was a wonderful experience and would likely to do it again when we come back to visit Barcelona in the future.

Awesome experience

Stefan was very professional, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. Started the tour on time, explained all historical places and context, and patiently answered all our questions. Fantastic Experience!

My husband and I really loved this experience! It was one of our favorite activities of our whole trip to Spain. The hike was challenging, but not too difficult, and the views were spectacular. Our guide, Stephan was excellent! He was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I also appreciated that he sent several messages prior to the trip, with tips to help us be best prepared, i.e, bring a rain jacket, sunscreen, etc. There were six additional people in our group, and it was fun chatting with others and hearing about their travel experiences and where they were from. If you enjoy active experiences and getting away from the city, I highly recommend this tour. I also thought the price was excellent, considering the value and quality of the experience.

Amazing!

We loved our day in Montserrat with Stepan! We had a great time hiking and learning more about the history of the mountain. We loved that this was a hike focused tour, compared to all the other day trips offered to Montserrat. Stepan adapted the pace to our level and we were able to see so much! We had a great experience! Everything was very well planned and on time. Stepan knows the mountain very well and shared a lot of information while hiking and during the breaks. He plans the hike according to the group's level and weather conditions which is very accommodating for all. Great energy and fun overall :)

Very fun! Tour guide was fantastic, very friendly and made sure everyone felt safe and was having fun during the hike. Stunning view and very well worth it. Recommend bringing comfortable shoes as there is plenty of walking.

Amazing tour with the best guide ever

The trip to Montserrat was one of the best experiences in Barcelona. I would like to thank our guide Stepan, who was absolutely amazing. We got to the place very comfortably and learned a lot of new information as well. We walked through beautiful countryside and we even had the opportunity to choose the route that was most appealing to us as a small group. The group was led in English, but since we don't speak the language very well, the guide told us quite a bit of information in Czech as well, which was a great surprise for us. If anyone wants to experience a relaxing trip, with beautiful hiking, incredible views and amazing atmosphere with the best guide, let them choose this tour. The best guide you can find in the Barcelona area!

I have been to Montserrat...

I have been to Montserrat several times but have never done the hike. What an incredible experience! The views were incredible. The small group experience was perfect. Our guide, Stefan, was very kind and tailored the experience to the preferences of the group. The only thing I wish is that the hike could have been longer. I enjoyed this so much!

Enjoyable hike

Excellent experience, incredible views! Stepan is an easy going person, told us many interesting stories while we did hiking. The ways are quite simple, we were not exhausted, not even so tired. Afterwards we visited the basilica and tried some local delicious products on the market.

Such a Steal!

I 100% recommend the Montserrat trip with Stepan. From the moment we met him at the meeting point, we knew we were in great hands. He was knowledgeable and very accommodating. He let the group decide our hiking comfort level and shared a lot of interesting facts along the way. The snacks at the end were a lovely treat. We would go on another adventure with him for sure!

Great Hike at Monserrat

We booked a tour with world adventure and it did not disappoint, Stepan picked us up right on time in the centre of Barcelona and the bonus point is there were only two of us hiking with Stepan that day it became our private tour somehow. Stepan explained thoroughly what kind of route options and what to expect and let us tailored our own hiking experience, along the way he explained to us the history of Montserrat, and introduced us the herbs and plants along the way, it was an really fun and interesting experience hiking with Stepan. He even told us the amusing Catalan Christmas's tradition of Caga Tió, and we were able to spot one the same night in the city. Highly recommend to book a tour with world adventure for the hike in Montserrat, you would not regret it !

A+++ Montserrat Hike

All respect for Stepan, who does a great job there - a true sample of excellent tour host! The tour more than met our expectations. Pick up right on time, lots of informed commentary. It is not often that you get so much nature and history in one trip, overall this was the perfect mix. Stepan took us around Montserrat and the mountains showing a complete understanding of challenging history of Catalonia. He had plenty of options and let us choose how we spent the day and how strenuous it would be. Definitely a highlight of our trip. A “must do” tour! :)

Would definitely go again!

Going in low season meant I had a private tour. Stepan picked me up from my hotel and was very conversational. He is clearly a very experienced guide, as he worked in breaks, snacks and information about the mountain and the monastery at well timed intervals. He is very knowledgeable and accommodating, catering the tour to my fitness level and desires - I'd highly recommend him and do this hike again! TIP: Wear good and comfortable walking or hiking shoes; I wore hiking boots and was so glad - there were some parts where street sneakers might not cut it!

A day out of the city

I went on the 'Small Group' Top Montserrat Hike and it turned out that the group really was small - only one person, me! It was a great oportunity to get out of the city for a day and explore this amazing location that is so important for the Catalan people. If you are lucky and catch a clear day, the peak offers a breathtaking 360 view of the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean sea, towns, hills and other mountain ranges around Montserrat. Stepan was a great guide and a really friendly person. He made sure I was alright at all times and I feel like I learned a lot from him about the history of Monserrat and its significance to the people of Catalunya. I recommend this experience and any of the other experiences offered by Stepan!

Fantastic experience hiking with Stepan

This hike was a fantastic experience!! We hiked as a small group, just 3 people in all, but it allowed us to all feel like we got to know eachother by the end. Stepan has the entire trip SO well planned out, with stops at different points to inform you about different histories and rock formations and native plants and animals. He has found a way to personalize the hike to every style of hiker and is a complete pleasure to talk to. He is extremely experienced in being a guide and it is very apparent that he loves sharing these experiences with others. Also, he brings yummy snacks :) Highly recommend this experience with Stepan!

Excellent hike, beautiful scenery, great guide

I went on the Montserrat hike and tour with Stepan last week. It was a fantastic day! He was in contact before the tour to let me know what to expect. On the day of the trip he picked me up close to my hotel. He provided a lot of interesting information about the area, history, flora, and fauna. We kept a good pace for the hike and he provided us with snacks along the way. At the peak he ensured we had enough time to take in the view and get as many pictures as we wanted. Overall I highly recommend a tour with Stepan. I hope to do another tour with him in the future.

Amazing experience!

Stepan was a great host/guide. We had a group of two in January and he picked us up from our AirBnb in Barcelona. He was extremely knowledgeable of Catalonian history and history surrounding Montserrat. The hike was very enjoyable and he tailored it to our skill level. We went to the top of the mountain (4000ft) and it was the most memorable experience we had during our trip. He also brought us delicious fresh fruit and we were able to try local cheese as well as go inside the church. The trip was a great value and experience. I would 100% recommend Stepan to anyone for this hike! It will be the best part of your trip!

Montserrat hike

I was very lucky to have Stephan all to myself for the hike. He gave me a few options for the hike when we got to Monserrat, so I was able to choose one to suit my experience. The hike was amazing with such beautiful views. I was very impressed with Stephan's knowledge of the area, especially about the flora. I really enjoyed the hike and it was great to meet some locals at the end when we visited the markets, tasting incredible honey and cheese. I would book with Stephan again, I highly recommend his company.

Small group Hike to Monseratt

This was a group of only 4. We travelled in a comfortable minibus for about an hour. After a bathroom stop we hiked up the mountain, walking past the Monastry. Stefan pointed out info on the foliage, plants and fauna. He knows the area well. He was good company, answering questions and pointing out interesting details. We took a route off the main path downwards, which made the trip highlight worthwhile. Snacks came in the form of fruit and water. We left at 9.30 and was back by around 4.00. Highly recommend.

Excellent Day Out

Stepan is a great guide who makes the experience feel personal due to the small group size. The tour was filled with a range of interesting information and of course the views were spectacular. I highly recommend this as it’s an easy hike to complete full of excitement.

Amazing tour and guide

Stepan was our tour guide to mont serrat and he was phenomenal! I would definitely recommend his tour and hike! We hiked to the top of mont serrat and then came back down to visit the monastery, everything was perfect. Stepan is knowledgeable, courteous, and fun to talk to. If you want to see mont serrat, look no further! You just found the best tour!

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Ausflug in einer sehr kleinen Gruppe. Die mittelschwere Wanderung hatte tolle Aussichtspunkte. Stephan ist ein sehr sympathischer und kompetenter Guide. Ich kann die Tour nur empfehlen.
