Absolutely excellent!!!!! Our cooking class with Xavier was the last event on our itinerary in Barcelona and we could not have selected a better way to wrap up our trip. Not only was the food delicious but the instructions, background and history around the meal were incredibly informative. We could not have asked for a better instructor and host. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!

This was our most favorite event of our trip. Marc was our gracious host and instructor. It was like cooking with family. Besides being an expert in paella, he is an architect who also specializes in rehabbing buildings and his space willed inspire you! You will leave with a happy belly and a new friend. Don't miss out!

Grandmothers recipe

Marc is an engaging host, and shared his grandmother’s method of making this classic Catalan dish. We learned so much about Barcelona history and culture. The evening is in a cool industrial space with features designed by Marc.

This cooking class with Marc is amazing! We made the best seafood paella and learned how to make it when we go home. We stayed for 3 hours eating, drinking and chatting. It was a blast. Highly recommend!

Go for an evening, take the memories home forever

Have you ever had one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences that are so unique and special that you know you'll never forget it? That's what Mark's amazing experience is like. We felt like we were welcomed as family from the moment we arrived until the last second we left. He's an amazing host, a wonderful teacher, and a memorable cook. He weaves much more than just basic, clean ingredients into his delicious paella. He mixes in personal stories, local history, genuine love, and a smile that makes you feel like you're right at home. Yes, the food and wine are tasty and plentiful, but the creative venue, artistic space, and uplifting conversation is what makes this opportunity worth far more than the price of admission. I might never see him again but I will remember the immersion he gave us into an entire world of culture that he captures from within one steel pan.

Mark was an incredible teacher and entertainer. We felt so welcome and learned so much. Would recommend with no reservations. It was amazing! We also went on a tour with his mate which was exquisite. Thanks Jordy!

Loved this cooking class! Small group so we all got to be engaged and participate. Our chef José was wonderful and had so much knowledge regarding the history of paella and tapas and sangria.

You won't be disappointed in taking this class!

I loved everything about this class. The explanations of how to cook paella were very clear. We got to take part in making it. I honestly thought we would be making our own, but that would have been cumbersome. I just got back from my trip and can't wait to make my own for my family.

Wonderful!

I am almost 2 months behind on this review but it truly was a wonderful experience. I intentionally made this my first experience trying paella. I def do not regret it. Delicious food, lovely conversation, and friendly host! I certainly recommend!

Full marks for integrity.

We were not able to attend the class due to construction issues. And due to email issues we did not gat the communication from trip advisor. but the host personally showed up to give us a quick tour and make sure we knew what was happening. Host is extremely knowledgeable and we are planning a stop in Barcelona next year just for this class. Extremely excited about it, much better than anticipated and we’ll with the cost.

A Friend’s Kitchen

The group consisted of a total of 2 couples so it made for a nice environment that wasn’t too big. It was interactive but you don’t make your “own” paella. You get to assist in making it. You also get to make a tapa to curb your appetite with a glass or more of a local vino blanco. The paella was great and much better than what you would receive in many restaurants in Barcelona.

Would not recommend. Broken glass pitcher of sangria.

Was expecting a more hands on experience. Instead, the instructor made one paella for the group. The venue was a construction zone. Tripped multiple times over tiles that were not flat and hidden under a rug. Our server broke the glass pitcher of sangria on the wine glasses and continued to pour and serve the sangria with broken glass in it. Would not recommend.

Authentic Catalan paella experience

Marc was an awesome guide and the experience took place in a great space. If you want authentic Catalan, this is the tour for you.

Wonderful

My daughter and I loved the cooking class! Our chef did a great job. He gave out interesting secrets about cooking a seafood paella. He explained in detail how to make the best dish. We were lucky to have such a wonderful group of people attend this class. They were from Great Britain, France and the US. We had so much fun making paella, tapas and preparing sangria. Our paella turned out delicious at the end. I highly recommend this experience.

A must do in Barcelona

Marc was such a nice man! He explained all aspects of paella … from the history of it to the actual preparation. The food was delicious!! His space that he works in was a great spot to experience cooking this Spanish dish with family or friends during your next trip to Barcelona.

Best Paella!

Instructor was super knowledgeable and was one of the nicest person we met in Barcelona! Also, the Paella we made was probably the best out of all the Paella's we had in Spain. Definitely recommend everyone go to this class, as it made for great food and memories!

Bueno!

Very interesting architectural space. The owner is an architect that is into reusing and recycling fixtures for this semi industrial space. We had lovely conversations that spanned history, politics and art. Had good rapport with our kids. Lovely way to spend an afternoon and learn to cook.

This was such a wonderful experience. Marc was not only knowledgeable but also very friendly. It was a fun evening learning how to make traditional paella while enjoying good conversation and sipping on wine. 10/10 would recommend!

Wonderful cooking experience

Our host was wonderful! He shared his passion about the history of paella and tapas. While he explained the details of building a paella from the ingredients and the cooking techniques used to create a delicious seafood paella, we also took part in preparing it. The Sangria we made was delicious and also loved sharing white wine from a Perone. Would definitely recommend this!

Solo traveller welcome!

It's probably the only cooking program a solo traveller can attend since most other cooking experiences need a minimum 2person. They do lunch and dinner sessions and the location is around 20min walking distance from the entrance of Parc Guelle. The paella making class was super fun and informative. The chef Sergio, was fun to cook with and explained things really well. Took a lot of learnings out of this experience.

A really unique experience

We went to a real local market and learned how to chose ingredients to make paella. Really cool. But the place where we cooked it was incredible. Made with parts of old Barcelona caracteristic houses combined with some futurístic architecture. The cooking very well thought. Instead of doing one paella for all, we made one for two people. So we cooked our own paella, always asisted by the chef/guide. This activity is a MUST in Barcelona.

Superbe expérience gastronimique dans un lieu insolite

Cours de cuisine dans un ancienne usine réaménagée près du parc guell. Un accueil très sympathique et chaleureux. Au delà de l'expérience culinaire, nous avons eu un échange culturel très enrichissant avec nos hôtes. Nous avons discuté aussi bien en français, mais aussi en espagnol et catalan. La paella était délicieuse et le chef nous a fait partager ses secrets! Hâte de rentrer à la maison pour refaire ce plat à ma famille!!!!

Propuesta única y excelente

Excelente propuesta! Mi pareja y yo nos quedamos alucinados por la arquitectura del espacio. El chef Sergio nos sedujo por su buen hacer en la cocina y su simpatía y calidez. Por fin hemos aprendido a hacer una buena paella!! Sin duda, muy muy recomendable! Su proximidad al Park Güell (5min andando) nos facilitó la experiencia y nuestro día de visita en Barcelona
