Out of all of our wonderful tours throughout Italy, France and Spain, by far my most memorable and fun tour was with Alex in Barcelona! Alex combined his incredible knowledge of the history and trivia of the area with great food, drinks and humor. He took us to out-of-the-way spots that we would have never found on our own and shared his knowledge of the food and drinks in that region of Spain that we were taste tasting. I loved his sense of humor and ability to connect with each of us in the group. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour (ask for Alex!), and don’t eat before you go! We were all so full after our tour that we didn’t need to have dinner!!

Amazing!

Absolutely amazing! My tour just ended up being 2 people + the guide so it felt very special. Andrea was amazing - she was incredibly knowledgeable about history but also passionate about food and was great at explaining everything we ate and its cultural significance. All the food was so so good and the atmosphere in the restaurants was perfect. Highly recommend!

Do this on your first day in Barcelona

Everything about this tour was perfect. We met our guide, Feliciano, and quickly began a walking history tour. He was shaking at bringing old history into a context of recent events and the present. He added amazing color and stories to every experience. We then moved into the food tastings. Delicious at every step and a focus on older established restaurants that had their own history and stores. Brief walks between each location were perfect for digesting. Its a lot if food! And the beverages - wines, vermouth, and more - unforgettable. Do this on day one to get your bearings on the city and the food options!

A highlight of our time in Barcelona!

The Barcelona tapas tour in the Gothic Quarter with our guide Luc was fantastic! It was a wonderful way to experience the delicious Barcelona food, customs, and history. It was a highlight of our trip and highly recommend!

What a great way to explore the Gothic Quarter at night!

Really enjoyed this walking food tour! Feliciano was a wonderful guide, with extensive knowledge of the area and its history, and the ability to share interesting stories about the rich culture and beauty of the Gothic Quarter. We stopped at several local bars and restaurants along the way and sampled delicious food, wine, Cava, and vermouth. By the time we were done, we had enjoyed a full meal.

Great tour

Did this tour along with a party of Americans. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining and took us to some lovely restaurants in the Gothic area of the city. All the food of which there was plenty, along with wine was first class. Thank you and highly recommend.

Great food, great history, great comraderie

Great way to learn a little history while sampling local cuisine at places you would never find on your own. I recommend doing it early in your trip because you’ll want to go back to these places!

Perfect kickoff to time in Barcelona

Fantastic even in the rain!

Vera led a fantastic and very informative tour through the Gothic Quarter. Despite the very rainy evening Vera never made us feel rushed. She took time to explain the historical significance of the places we passed and the culinary influences of the foods we experienced. The tapas and wine were plentiful and delicious, and we really enjoyed trying new, local delicacies.

A must do!

Our guide was fantastic and enjoyed making jokes with everyone! He made it feel like we were his only care in the world. There's a lot more history than I expected, which was fantastic. And for those with food restrictions, you may not get to try something everywhere, but the accommodations made were fantastic and I'm so grateful!

The Devour Barcelona Tapas, Taverns and Gothic Quarter History Tour

The Devour tour was one of the best we have ever signed up for. Our guide, Alex M. was the quintessential host. He was very informative on the Gothic Quarter, the ins and outs of eating in Barcelona, and the history of Barcelona. The establishments we visited were very accommodating and the food and wine were excellent. There is some walking to cover a wide area, but Alex was sure to stop to explain or inform us of the different facts and history of each area.

Another fab devour tour - our fourth one!

Great walking tour with Luke. Luke shared his knowledge and experiences of Barcelona life and history of Barcelona with great stops to taste tapas cava and wine. Food was delicious tasting a few tapas we hadn’t before…..who would have thought of a mint and pea croquetta.

Great Gothic evening

If you like good food, drink, laughs, meeting new people and lots of history you'll have a great time on this tour! I hope you get Lucas as a guide as he was fantastic. He was personable, very knowledgable and provided the lead for a great few hrs. You'll go to local establishments not tourist traps and really get a feel for the amazing gothic qtr inlcuding street art & music! A must by us. We would suggest the pm tour as it was both cooler and offered a better vibe at night.

Really fun and delicious tour

I would definitely recommend this tour, we had a great time. We were in a group of 8 total plus the guide and it was a great size group. Our tour guide was really great and gave us a fun guide of the gothic part of the city, and the bars chosen for the stops were truly excellent. We finished the tour VERY full and a little bit better educated on the city and its history.

The perfect Barcelona tapas tour

Vera was so fun as our tour guide! The walking tour was so informative and we got to experience places we would have never been able to find without her help. I loved the bit of a history lesson we got along the way. Loved everything about it!

Fun but Highly Overpriced

Fun experience with a knowledgeable tour guide with a great sense of humor. Good food and drinks but highly overpriced by 4x based on fabulous and plentiful dining that we were able to experience independently.

Best 3+ hours in Barcelona!

This was so much fun! Valentina was a terrific guide and we experienced great food and wine with a very interesting history tour!

Fun and fantastic educational and culinary experience

Our family of four (me, my husband, and our early-20s sons) loved everything about the experience. Our guide, Vera, was friendly and knowledgeable and showed us so many interesting spots in the Gothic Quarter. We visited three tapas bars and ate so much tasty food. Highly recommended!

Barcelona Tapas and History

Our group was full of food loving adventurers and let by Feliciano, who was so knowledgeable and fun. It was such an authentic experience and we learned so much more about Barcelona’s history than I could have ever wandering the Gothic quarter by myself.

Food, views, and interesting facts

Of the two weeks we spent traveling through Italy and Spain, this tour may have been our favorite! Our tour guide, Alex, was knowledgeable, engaging, and had an excellent sense of humor. The tour provided us the opportunity to try local cuisine and wine, while also affording us the opportunity to see the beautiful streets of Barcelona and interact with the other group members. We loved everything about this tour!

Tapas and History

Our guide, Ariana, was amazing. She was so full of energy and spirit. She was passionate about the food, wine, and history of Barcelona. It made the experience truly memorable. My family and I learned so much about the history of Catalonia during this 3.5 hour tour. I highly recommend if you love food, history, and drinking.

Overrated tour for the money

It’s a very nice walk around the Gothic quarter, but our tour guide was a mediocre. Not much comment on the area itself as we walked. The tapas were ok but nothing gourmet or special. Cava , vermouth, and wines were good. You can do as well to select your own tapas places and take the free walks offered. So I think the tour was worth maybe half of what we paid. $130 per person

GREAT food, company, and history!!!

Ariana was the best tour guide! I took this tour on a solo trip and it was awesome. Ariana showed us a variety of amazing food at cute, local restaurants we wouldn’t have found normally, all with the perfect dose of history. The whole tour was engaging, entertaining and super fun! Highly recommend anyone take this tour as the perfect introduction to Barcelona history, food and culture!! Fun. Guide was excellent. Not the best tapa tour we’ve done but worth it if in Barcelona. Interesting history.

We enjoyed the commentary by Alex M as much as the food . Delightful guide and very knowledgeable about the area in addition to the food and wine which was delicious!! The vermouth is a must to try here .

Practice your Porron Technique. You’re going to need it!

Hector did a great job leading our group through the Gothic Quarter pointing out many historical sites throughout the area. We did this tour in the first few hours after we arrived and I strongly suggest this as a great way to get your bearings in the city, learn some history while you are at it and find some great food and drink at some wonderful restaurants. We stopped at 3 different locations sampling multiple food and drink items. Come hungry for the best experience. Taking a try with the porron at La Plata was a memorable experience. Go for it!

This is a great historical and local perspectives of the area which also includes multiple local for tasting venues. Highly recommend.

Excellent tour!

Mick was a great guide and provided lots of fascinating history and insight into the Barcelona and Catalan culture. The food and drink were delicious and we had a lot of fun strolling around the gothic quarter hearing stories and getting background on all the sights. Highly recommended!

Great evening. Hector was a passionate Catalunyan guide offering great insight into the local history, culture and food and wine offerings. He also provided some great tips on local establishments to visit. Highly recommend this for a first time visitor.

Great introduction to the Gothic Quarter

Great food and beverages woven with history and architecture. I would highly recommend Devour Tours. Our guide, Eric, was helpful, humorous, and knowledgeable. Being a group of Americans, it was nice to have a native English speaker. Unfortunately we have found some native speakers speak rapidly and don’t pronounce words clearly.

Best food tour I’ve been on

Stop searching and DO THIS TOUR

Excellent way to learn history of Barcelona, see important areas of Gothic Quarter, and enjoy local cuisine at family-owned, lesser-known establishments. Our 3-hour tour included stops at 3 restaurants. Our guide, Feliciano was very informative and proud to show off his city. The walking was not at all strenuous. The restaurant owners were very welcoming and prepared for our arrival. There wasn’t a wasted minute during the entire tour. The dishes were small but all in the group were filled after the 3 stops. Our tour started mid-morning (10:45am) and would recommend a similar start time if available (don’t eat breakfast beforehand). Great way to start the day, get a good fill of food, learn the general layout of the Gothic Quarter, and still have the rest of the day to get lost on your own. Seriously, getting lost in the Gothic Quarter is the best way to experience it. Your search is done. BOOK THIS TOUR!

Excellent Tour

Eric was very knowledgeable about the history of the Gothic area of Barcelona. He did a great job explaining the history in a fun way. The 3 bars were excellent and the tapas we ate were very representative of the foods served here. Wines were all excellent and a nice variety. Highly recommend.

Highly Recommend! Excellent way to start a visit to Barcelona!

We like to start our travel with a food tour to get acquainted with a new city and learn its customs. This tour was excellent! Our guide, Mick, was full of knowledge about food and history. It was an excellent balance. We tried many different tapas and beverages. They were all very good. Mick was also willing to advise us on other places to visit we were interested in.

The food and drink was plentiful and delicious, our host was knowledgeable about the area, history, culture and shared suggestions of other areas/things to do outside of the tour. We walked down many "hidden" area, our guide showed us several unknown facts that were fascinating. It's a dinner experience you won't forgot. Enjoy!

A “must” tour!

The Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. Interesting and entertaining. She kept us on schedule but still took time to answer any questions we had.. She chose bodegas that we never would have known about and as a result we really got the taste of authentic life and food in Barcelona.. we would highly recommend this trip.
