Barcelona Card: Museums + Transport for 72h, 96h or 120h

Too risky, and probably not worth it anyway

I bought this card for my family of 5, even though it probably wasn't a good deal overall, but I thought it would be convenient. My flight from the US to Barcelona was canceled, I immediately tried to cancel the Barcelona Card for the next day, but because it was past midnight Barcelona time, I couldn't. We now won't arrive in Barcelona until two of our three days have been used up, and our new flight gets in too late to pick it up at the airport. So it would be a hassle to get it for the third day. I asked for an exception to get a refund and was denied. Inflexible and a huge waste,

For easier travel in Barcelona, get the Barcelona Card.

We used the card for subways and buses, beginning right at the airport into the city. It made our travels throughout the city so easy. We then continued to take advantage of the card at 4 different museums in our one week stay. We enjoyed being able to just walk in to each and spend as much or as little time as we desired. It was well worth the price.

Great product, great value

What a great product. Do your research well and your Barcelona Card becomes the core to planning your visit. We went to a museum, to find tickets were sold out for the day, we showed our Barcelona Card and we were allowed in. Getting around on the metro is a breeze. Everyone should get a BC.... Great value.

A Good Deal If You Intend To See A Lot

We had the Travel and Experience card for 4 days and made decent use of it, more than covering its at the time 63 euro per person cost. The first saving was getting from the airport to the city centre, add to this all travel costs and you are onto a winner. On top of this we used amongst others the free entry/discount for Montjuic, the cable car to Montjuic, Casa Vicens and Palau Guell. In short if you intend to be busy during your break then buy it, or maybe just have a busy 2 days and then relax the rest of the time. Either way there are savings to be had.

The Barcelona Card.

I would highly recommend this Barcelona card as it was easy to find in the airport and had a quick queue. It was easy to buy and had a good use for our journeys in Barcelona as it included unlimited access to the metro (so we didn't have to buy tickets every time). It also included a museum card (which just like the metro ticket) it gave us unlimited access to see many museums. The only downside to this was that the viator ticket doesn't work and you need to get a physical ticket from the Information office as you arrive at the Airport. You also have to be wary of certain buses and cable cars that are private and don't take the card, however these are shown on the metro map, so can be misleading.

Save your money.

This is a discount card with a few free attractions included. The places included are secondary attractions and if you are a senior, the discount for your age is more than the BC card discount. It was a waste of money for us and we were there for 5 days.

Barcelona card worth every penny

This card was worth every penny riding on Public transportation all around Barcelona. We will use the discount portion for the city Tour bus and to visit some of the museums.

Feel ripped off

Paid for 96 hour travel and museum pass, barcode and voucher sent and saved to Apple wallet as suggested by Viator. Staff at tourist booth outside Sagrada Familia did not have a bar code reader They wanted a paper copy Refused to take a screen shot copy. Email hopeless 3G due to the crowds so could not send a copy via email. Staff dismissive and unhelpful. Viator sent email no response other than this request for a review

Definitely worth it

We got a good use of the card. We visited 7 museums and rode buses 5-6 times. The best was the third day which was rainy, so we took the bus to Mtjuic and visited Etnographic Museum and Museum of Catalonian art. The building itself was impressive and offered a nice panoramic view of the city. The other site I found very interesting was underground excavation of Roman city. The card offers a lot of variety. We also visited Foundation Miro, Picasso museum, Mares house and chocolate museum.

Only the hola Barcelona travel card is worth it. The attractions on the Barcelona card is not.

Buy only the hola Barcelona card which is around half the price for 5 days. Buy only this card if you plan the visit to make it worthwhile but many of the famous places are not included, which means you will end up paying anyway. For most of the tours booked through any agency, you are not able to use this card for a reduction. The only place you can use the Barcelona card is to go to the events and book locally, but it's not good because you cannot plan the visit and the tickets might be over anyway.

Buy it if you want to go for museums

The card is worth the money spent _only if you are not interrested in visiting the most iconic places_ in Barcelona. Moreover, some of the locations from the official list does not offer the discounts stated (i.e. Santa Maria del Mar cathedral) or have different discounts than stated (i.e. at Casa Batlo you have €7 discount, not €3 - this is why I bought the online access for a €4 euros discount. I could not use the BCN Card for online the purchase, or recover the money afterwards). This card is worth the money if going to visit museums. It includes the Hola Barcelona travel card - this is the main value of the package, but you can buy it separately in most of the metro stations.

Complete waste of money

Turns out we were in Barcelona during the St Eulalia holiday and every single museum was free. Thus purchasing the Barcelona Card was a complete waste of money. We did not use it even once. Sure would have been nice if the woman who issued us the card at the airport would have mentioned this….

More than paid for itself

I bought this online but was able to collect it at the airport info desk. It's activated on first use so I could collect it early even though I didn't need it until day 3. It includes the Hola Barcelona travel card which makes using public transport a breeze. Check that the card is covering entry or at least giving a discount to the places you want to visit to get the most out of it. Unfortunately, it doesn't cover the Sagrada Familia, but it still paid for itself with all the places it got me into.

Waste of money

The information given says entrance included to several experiences, and names them, when in fact when you get to the venue it is only 20% off admission. In our case it would have been cheaper to get a taxi, rather than pay £80 for 3 days.

A must have when visiting Barcelona

If you visit Barcelona,the Barcelona Card is a must have. You can rise the metro as much as you want and if you are into museum visits you will get a discount on entering them.

Great value, really useful to get around the city. Gave us the opportunity to move carefree all around.

Excellent value for the money

This card costs 68 euros at the airport but we only paid $50 CDN on Expedia for TD. Unlimited travel and we used it leaving the airport and all through Barcelona. Guidebook was helpful as were the maps.

Worst! Don’t buy!

Customer service was not helpful when I let them know that my card had not been activated correctly when I purchased them. They did nothing to try to help me. The information office closest to me that could potentially activate the card was closed I had to walk for 20 minutes to another office. Not worth it.

Think first

I bought my 3 day ticket online and when I got to the airport the information place had already closed...earlier than stated.... I bought a 4 eauro train ticket into city centre Sants and walked to hotel. I then had to walk to an information place and exchange my voucher for an actual ticket. I could have saved my efforts if I had known the ticket machines for the card are at all Metro stations. Other than that, it allows all travel, but the free attractions that appeal to me were few, and while I did save 20% on a few places, I dont think it made up for the cost.

Helpful

Me plus 2 teens went for four nights to Barcelona. 3 whole days, 2 partial days. The Barcelona card gets you in free or at reduced rate to many places and the three day travel cards we got with it meant easy travel around the city on all forms of public transport, as often as needed. As the weather was v hot, the air con on transport is a v welcome relief. Before buying this card, you can either decide to go to the places covered by the card like an adventurer, no matter if you'd normally want to go there or not,.... or being (boringly?) sensible..... Check through the list of venues and see if they are places you'd like to visit and also how much they'd be to get into without the card. That way you'll be sure it's worth shelling out for Barcelona card. Other passes are available. None are cheap. Think this one was not as pricey as others. We didn't visit as many places as we hoped as it was tiring in the heat and there's only so much culture we can take in, in one day! 😀 So not 100% whether we used it to full advantage or got our money's worth. Tip ref public transport, if you can get your mobile data working, Google maps directions was absolutely brilliant at finding the exact buses etc needed and told us what time to expect the bus and how late or early it was running! Tried the Barcelona transport own app, (its like tfl in London) but it wasn't as helpful as Google maps itself as Google maps showed us directions of getting to the right bus stop.

Complete Waste of Money

What a hassle to plan out ANYTHING using this card. Too much time to try to determine What bus to take, what tram to take, what metro to take etc etc. OVERWHELMING. In fact, we didn’t even use the card except to purchase a hop on hop off bus tour for a discount. We would have been better served to just paid in full for a two day hop on hop off bus tour and not even purchased the Barcelona Card. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY for us. Would not recommend. Anything worth seeing isn’t included for free anyway. DON’T WASTE YOUR $ on this.

Best value ever

I don’t think they banked on us visiting 4 museums a day so at the price of a five day card with free public transport i’m sure we were in profit by the begining of day 2. We saw places we may not have visited on a pay as you go basis and it was those unexpected visits that blew our minds and led to discoveries of amazing collections. Thank God the card has now run out so we can spend two days eating and drinking and buying souvenirs like normal tourists.

A Great Deal.

After anguishing over whether to get one of the many passes in Barcelona and which one, I bought a five day Barcelona Card for €61 for a one week stay, including all public transport. My interest is in art and architecture. The cost of the card was covered within 48 hours and I have tallied over €200 in museums so far with one day to go. Even buying Casa Batilo tickets at the door was going to cost €29 (€25+€4 ticket office fee), but cost €22 with the card. It encouraged me to see sites, museums and galleries that are smaller and off the main tourist route. These proved to be the highlights of the trip- the ethnographic museum, near the Picasso Museum, is amazing. Do yourself a favour...

Great value for money, makes travel very easy

At £40 a pop it is a bit pricey, unless you make full use of it, which we did just about in only 2 days use. Gave us reduced or free entry to history, maritime museums and aquarium, aswell as free tube travel to the castle and the camp nou. Just makes your trip a whole lot more convenient.

I did not use the card as much as I thought because the bus tour also gives you a discount book for some the same but there were others I decided to see instead. But you need to plan ahead as some of the places have set bookings per time slot. Over all excellent choice.</p>

Possibly a good value

The Barcelona Card can possibly be a good value depending on how you use it. I feel the best way is to research the places you want to visit and see if a savings is there. The card can be also used for the buses and the metro which can also add value. The guide book also lets you know places where additional discounts can be used.

<p>The BCN 3 card is a great idea if you use it for the amount of days you paid for it. We only used for one full day out of the three only because we didn't pick up at airport on day of arrival. From Barceló Raval, we had to hoof it to Catalunya Square the next afternoon to get the card. We weren't able to really research all the freebies/discounts and so we just visited Sagreda Familia and the discount was for the headsets which we declined. We did enjoy the subway system and there are plenty of buses to get you around the city. Better preparation on our part would have given us better use of this card.</p>

<p>We ordered a 3 day card, but our plans were upset by the one day strike, so we couldn't get the card till the next day as tourist information, metro and museums were all closed.<br/> However, I think we got our money's worth as we managed to visit 6 museums for free, and use the metro for 2 days. If we had had that extra day would have been really good value- if you like museums.<br/> The Miro museum and the Frederic Mares museum were our favourites, also the museum of Art of Catalonia is very impressive if you like medieval art.<br/> Couldn't get into Sagrada Familia or Park Guell as they were fully booked, but not included in the ticket anyway. You definitely need to book for the Gaudi sights. The metro is very easy to use, but we couldn't fathom out the buses, so didn't try them.</p>

Were told oh it's after 3 pm even thought it clearly stated you could collect cards until 5pm come back tomorrow so we lost a day metro use should have only brought the 4 day. Anyway next day we were able to collect from a different information centre no trouble. Seems good value and good to have a preloaded metro card</p>

Museum portion does not get you to the head of the line and card cannot be use to make an online reservation. Museums like the Picasso museum had a long line, a reservation would have been helpful. As you plan your days in Barcelona keep long wait times in mind. Head of the line card would probably been better.</p>

<p>Very exciting tour we learned more about Barcelona with this bus tour than any other way however, when the weather is very hot, travelers are torn between sitting on the top of the bus because one can see so much better versus remaining on the bottom level where it is not as hot but one cannot see as well. <p>This is not a tour, but I would say that Barcelona's city railway system is one of the best in the world. I got the Barcelona Card unlimited rides for 6 days, and it made me go more places. I love this option, as it is not an available in all places in the world. I am currently in Beijing, and their system does not allow for such. Check it out online, and see what you think.</p>

The metro card worked perfectly and we had no issues, but we ended up taking the aerobus for the airport transport which we had to pay for separately and never actually used the Barcelona Card because it really only includes museums and only small discounts. I would say it isn't worth the expense.</p>

Also, location at Plaza de Cataluña is difficult to find if you do follow the instructions provided. Just look for the stairs across the crazy busy street from the store- NOT in front of the store. The line is long but moves fast. I saw a lot and it was a great savings. Bus ticket alone is worth the price as Barcelona transportation system is faster, cleaner, easier and cheaper than taxi service!</p>
