We went to Ayutthaya for a one day visit from Bangkok. On reaching Ayutthaya we hired a toto to go around. Each and every temple we visited were wonderful and marvelous.

Good experience, not the guide

Really nice experience with the facility - transfer & the itinerary. Marred by a very chatty & inappropriate comments from the guide, who was stuck on sexualising almost every single historical fact or action like’ why you need to cover’, completely disregarding the fact that there was a minor with us listening as part of our family trip. Would recommend the partners but not the guide

One day informative tour to Ayuttaya

Guide who was kind and with good knowledge made the tour comfortable and convenient. Make sure you protect yourself from Sun during summer!

Great One Day Tour

Very nicely packed tour of the Summer Palace and Ayutthaya temples. The guy Bell was excellent and very courteous. The selection for lunch was also very nice.

A busy agenda (maybe not on a really hot day)

Unfortunately, we did this tour on an incredible hot day and the agenda is just very busy for this. The first stop, Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, was not really worth it for us, plus we only had 40 minutes, so we just rushed through it, took a picture and that's it. The temples in Ayyuthaya are amazing though we could only spend there around 45 minutes and you barely find any shadow. We personally did not enjoy the lunch, it was quite expensive for the quality of the food and you have no other option for lunch. Food had to be chosen in the morning directly when the tour started. Our guide Coconut was ok, we had some issues understanding her as her English was not the best, she was rushing us quite a lot even in the hot weather and was mainly there to take pictures of us and only gave a few information. We did a different tour a few days before where we were very impressed by our tour guide and received much more information, probably that is the reason we felt it was not enough. If you are out for much more information, I would recommend to book a private tour, this would be our go to next time to have more time and get more information.

Hot day out

Sun was a great tour guide. It was about 41C with high humidity but she had great energy. Because it was so hot she let us chose our time at each place, and left early if we were all done. The restaurant was also delicious. However, becareful what option you choose. I didn't realize that there was an option where the ticket price wasn't included. We were able to pay for admission once on the tour though. Highly recommend! We saw the museum, and 4 temples. A great day, everyone had fun and we never felt rushed. Thank you Sun!

Outstanding trip.....memories made & won't be forgotten

We had a fabulous trip. The van was lovely & cool, the weather was extremely hot. Both the driver & guide were wonderfully accommodating. Our guide Niranya was so lovely & friendly. Her knowledge & information that she imparted was outstanding. I would highly recommend going on the trip & if are lucky enough to have Niranya as your guide your trip will be a memorable one.

Amazing Ayutthaya

Nancy and our driver Adi were great! Fulfilling day and even managed to get back to the city with minimal traffic.

Awesome Ayutthaya trip with Sun

We had Sun as our tour guide for Ayutthaya this trip. Day before I received friendly reminder via WhatsApp with appropriate dress code for palace. April's weather is over 100F, Sun always look out for us and provide history under the shades. She has a great sense of humor, cater to our group needs and we really enjoy our trip with her.

Worth experiencing!

Ayutthaya was amazing - our guide was very knowledgeable and provided insight into what we were seeing. Totally worth the time & money spent!!

Ayutthaya experience

Overall, everything was okay. I was picked up on time, our guide was knowledgeable regarding history of the places we toured, The only downside of it is the weather. It’s so hot!

If you have too much time...

If you have too much time on bangkok, yes sure you can join this tour. But for I wish I didn’t attend cause it was too hot and the ruins were the same exactly on every spot. Nothing special. Our tour guide was really kind person and he has a lot to say about thai culture and history. He was the highlight about the tour. But we has a terrible driver. Even I worn him about driving carefully, he wasn’t paying attention at all. And the van must be improved for sure.

Underwhelming

Unclear why this is advertised as an 11 hour trip as we departed Bangkok just after 8 and were back by 4.30. Guide was clearly not interested in her job, dropped us off at the locations and told us to meet back at a set time, very little information offered, the trip was more of a driver service rather than a guided tour. It was an incredibly hot day and the tour had stated that water was included however we were not offered or provided with any water until we got on the bus to head back to Bangkok at around 3pm. This was in stark contrast to a tour we had done the day before where the guide was so attentive and offered us water throughout the day while encouraging us to stay hydrated due to the heat. Overall a bit of a let down and really not worth it- could have been a different experience with a guide who did their job.

Excellent Tour of Ayutthaya Palace and Temples

We only had two days to experience Bangkok. Our first day was a tour from the cruise ship to see the Royal Palace and temples. For the second day, we booked this tour for a wonderful trip to Ayutthaya. Our guide, Jack, was excellent. He took us to the summer palace and then to four temples. Afterward he took us to a local restaurant on the river that served up a delicious lunch. Overall it was a very fun, full day. We highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic Ayutthaya!

Pinporn (Angie) was great! She was super knowledgeable and informative about Thai history, culture, and the architecture of Ayutthaya. It was a great day, and I highly recommend her tour!

Great experience

Guide was very passionate and knowledgeable and ensured things ran smoothly despite the heat and busy time of year. Had a lovely time.

Great guide, great trip, but no pick-up

All in all great tour, really worth a trip from Bangkok, as the ride is not long and you get to learn a bit about history of Thailand. There was enough time to enjoy every temple, and you could learn a lot from the guide. Our guide Sun, was really friendly and funny, she actually made this experience worth the money. On the contrary, I have to say that communication with organization team of Trip Guru is not smooth at all. Links in messges not working, hard to organize a pick-up point (you might not be picked-up even though you marked the hotel in pick-up zone), etc. We almost cancelled the trip because of that.

Good value for a solo traveler

It was a good value considering the price for a solo traveler joining a group tour, and the fact that it did not include hotel pickup/drop off.

Ayutthaya

Good trip but took some time in the morning to pick people up who were joining the tour. Bell was a good guide but they should have brought more water than just one bottle since it was extremely hot and humid.

I do not recommend this...

I do not recommend this tour. I arrived to the stadium at 8h and i could not find the meeting point because it was upstairs, i arrived at 8:08 and the guide did not wait for me. I could not do the excursion, please i am asking to have the refund back.

Excellent Ayutthaya trip

A great trip with our excellent guide Angie. I highly recommend if you want to experience and learn about the ancient city of Ayutthaya

Great tour and guide.

Angie was a lovely guide. Met us on time and was very friendly and engaging. Be aware that you will be out in the (extremely hot) sun during the middle of the day with limited access to shade and you must dress respectfully when visiting these sites. Thankfully most of the temples offer complimentary umbrellas, which you should definitely take advantage of! Also, the restaurant that you stop at for lunch (price not included in tour) is very expensive, so plan accordingly.

Terrible tour operator. Avoid Tripguru

We paid additional money for hotel pickup and drop off. But the tour operator, TripGuru, didn't want to pick us up or drop us off. I sent them several emails with the booking information that clearly showed our hotel as the pickup point. They kept replying back with standard emails asking us to come to the meeting point. We missed our breakfast and had to spend several hundred baht to get to the pickup location with considerable amount of anxiety. This made the whole trip unenjoyable. Viator needs to blacklist this operator. Otherwise, we will never use Viator again.

Beautiful temples!

Great tour! We saw a couple of temples which were beautiful! The guide (Coconut) was very knowledgeable and gave us some insights around the history of the temples and kings that ruled. The lunch was also good.

Full day exploring the ancient city of Ayutthaya with a lovely guide Coconut. She showed us the best photo spots and gave us brief information about the area.

Amazing ruin with a little over 1 hr from bangkok

I signed up in last minute. Tour guide met me on time in meetup spot. I was in the group with two other fellow, and we were drove around in a van. We went to 5 spots, the guide is very professional and nice. The ruin is amazingly beautiful. I definitely would recommend. The only thing I would say if you have choice, pick a day when the weather is forecasted to be less hot. The day I went have peak temp at 38C and it is a little exhausting in the end.

Amazing day to Ayutthaya

We had an amazing tour with our guide Sun. She was very knowledgeable on the history of Ayutthaya and kept very well the time on each spot, always giving us enough time to roam around by ourselves. She was funny and took care of us during the whole day. The tour itself is well organized and I would recommend it to everyone eho is looking for a day trip from Bangkok

Terrible Experience.

Had a terrible experience! Hotel pick up was denied even though it's mentioned in the booking voucher. The air-conditioning in the van was not working. The tour guide assigned by the name of Coconut was a total disaster!! She could not communicate properly in English and seemed totally ill informed about the history of the place. The tour started late and was incredibly hot due to the non functioning of the van air conditioner. The trip provider seemed least bothered. Would not recommend this trip to anyone. Regret booking the same.

Fun day out in Ayutthaya!

Fun day out in Ayutthaya. We sometimes struggle to understand our guide but good experience overall.

Ruined Thai city is fascinating

For more than 400 years, Ayutthaya was a flourishing Siamese city; in the 18th Century it was destroyed by Burmese army. Before that, it was a center of culture and literature. Now, it's a collection of ruined historic buildings; Ayutthaya is a UNESCO classified site. It's 89 km (55 miles) from Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. By the way, you can join a tour or take public transport.

Temple hopping

In common, it was positive and interesting. It could be better if guide provide more insights about religious and cultural aspects about itinerary.

Incredible!

Very hot and long tour! Sun is a great tour guide! Very knowledgeable. Some of the temples look very similar so it got a little old but they were all very beautiful and worth it. Except for the royal palace which you do first that is a bynch of European/hindu/buddhist architecture and I didn’t think it was worth it and they make you buy shirts and pants. Shawls/scarfs aren’t enough. You only get one cold water halfway through so be prepared to pay for water, lunch, bathrooms, extra clothes you might need to wear and tips!

Hotel pickup limited to the hotel you are STAYING

It was a great tour except for pickup/drop-off issue. For a pick-up point I selected Hotel Indigo since my hotel (Landmark) wasn’t in the list. The tour guide, however, made a big fuss on that and made me feel very uncomfortable. I don’t understand why it’s a big deal, but even if it is, I think it’s the job of Tour Guide to resolve in the background rather than confronting the customer.

Highly recommended trip if you're in Bangkok

Our tour guide, Bonnie, was super nice, funny, helpful, and knowledgeable. She took lots of pics to make our trip memorable, and she knew all the best places to snap good photos. Bonnie was super enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge of the area and making sure we had a great time.

We had a great time! Jacky was very knowledgeable and gave us the history at every location. He also took a picture of us at the best viewpoint at every location. I highly recommend this tour and I hope you get Jacky as your guide. I would recommend that you are ready for pick up 20 minutes earlier than the stated time. I’m always early for everything and luckily I arrived 20 minutes early as they had been waiting to pick me up! 😀

Perfect day

Loved the tour guide, Sun. She provided a lot of historical information about the sights we were seeing. I appreciated the balance between the walking tour and free time at the locations. Meeting place was easy to find and we left on time. I asked for a vegetarian meal and the tour guide picked a restaurant with good options.

Beautiful but very hot

My tour guide was Noy. He was a sweet man with a sense of humor. You could tell he really cares about Thailand’s history, protecting and respecting the temples. It was very hot. By lunchtime we had visited three temples. We were all exhausted and ready to go back to Bangkok, but there were three more stops left on the itinerary. We ended up skipping the last one, and I wasn’t sorry about it.

Perfect day trip from Bangkok

The hotel pick up was on time. The tour emphasized small group size. We had 9 in our group. We were able to see all the sites with ample time to explore with and without our guide. Our guide preordered our food in advance so we don’t waste time waiting for our food. The restaurant was reasonable in price and decent in quality. This is a must do if you go to Bangkok. The place, the temple and the ruins are historic and breath taking. Highly recommended.

Excellent guide Ms. Niranya Burchardt

Had a great time with our guide Ms. Niranya Burchardt. Her English was very good and she was able to answer all the group's questions. She sang us a traditional song and explained the meaning, and also bought everyone the regional dessert (a sugar crepe style sweet). The tour ran on time and we visited every attraction advertised. We were also given an option as to when to have lunch as per the group's preference. No tourist trap shops either, just a good experience of the history and culture.
