Beware. Irresponsible company practices in regards to days of extreme weather and heat wave

The operator acted irresponsibly. They confirmed the tour in the middle of a heat wave of over 40 degrees C (105 F). Temp over 35 degrees (95 F) the tour should have been cancelled, not confirmed. Their argument was that Thailand is a tropical country. But no human being can be out biking for 7 hours in 40 degree weather. Tip for travelers. Check the weather forecast and cancel the trip in advance, and don’t expect the tour company to act out of sympathy or reason.

History and sightseeing

The views were amazing and I had a lovely company with me: Bella and Be. They made the activity very enjoyable. The history of former capital of Thailand Ayutthaya was captivating.

A very good day out

The bikes were new and well maintained. The 2 guides (B1 & B2, they told us) really looked after us making sure we had water, and we traversed junctions safely. My Mrs (58) and not much of a bike rider felt very safe and supported. The day itself included much more than we expected, a ride, a history lesson, lunch, a walk through a local market with tastings and explanations, visits to 3 temples, and a boat ride. It’s hot make sure you have your sunscreen on.

This Trip was exzeptionel! The best experience we made in Ayutthaya. We‘ve been just a small group of 4+Guide. Our guide (Bella) was very Knowledgable and speaks excellent english (not common). It was a relaxing and interesting tour. The bicycles are in best condition and with 3 gears (absolutely sufficient). Lunch was top as well.

Great way to see all the sights of Ayuthaya on bicycle. Avoid the traffic and parking of a car by joining a guided tour. Our guide was informative, clear and energetic.

Fabulous cycling tour through Ayutthaya and surrounding areas

Enjoyed thoroughly the cycling tour on the 28th January 2023. I was the only customer for the tour on that day, so I had the privilege of having the full attention of my guide Bella, who was very helpful, informative and fun. It was really a fabulous experience cycling around the streets of Ayutthaya, crossing the river by the small ferry, eating lunch in a nice restaurant and trying out a local sweet at a street side shop. All in all a memorable day. Thanks to Bella!

Best way to see Ayutthaya

The tour was excellent - a good combination of history and Thai culture. The route was basically flat along the canals and temples and the route directions given were clear and understandable. Bella provided a thorough review of the trip on arrival, and was available to answer all questions the group had. Highly recommend !

A great way to see Ayutthaya!

A great day with Scott as our guide! He was very knowledgeable and was able to fit in quite a lot for the amount of biking we did. I also appreciated that he generally kept us on quieter streets and helped us safely navigate the busier ones. This tour was such a nice break from the giant tour buses—highly recommend!

Colours of Ayutthaya review

Thoroughly enjoyed the cycling tour of Ayutthaya it was a great way to see the temples as opposed to being bused around. The 10 minutes at each spot was perfect to spend at each of the temples. Andre was really knowledgeable about the history of the temples. I definitely wouldn’t have learnt as much had I gone by myself. Thé lunch was also delicious- good to try different dishes that I otherwise wouldn’t have known about & to go somewhere where there were only locals/ Thai tourists.

Just do it

Our tour guide Scott was very knowledgeable and engaging, giving us an insight into the history of Ayutthaya that we never would've had if we just walked around the sites ourselves. Biking was a great way to explore the city! Much faster than by foot while still able to take in the ruins. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Trip in all aspects.

We went on a one day cycling trip with this company to Ayutthaya. The Wats and ruins are so much better seen from bikes. The guides English was perfect and he was very informative. I loved seeing the elephant farm. The lunch in the floating restaurant was fantastic. I highly recommend this trip.

Amazing guide and local experience!

We loved our day biking around Ayutthaya with our guide, Gott. He was extremely knowledgeable and kind and was always willing to make extra stops and breaks so we could rest from the heat. We were able to see some of the famous locations, such as the Buddha head in the tree, but we were also able to see many “non-touristy” places as well and get a better understanding of local life. The bike ride is strenuous in the heat, so make sure to drink a LOT of water, but it is well worth it!

Great bike tour

I’ve done countless tours in SE Asia over the past couple of years and this one stands out because of my tour guide Sgott (I hope I wrote the name down correctly). I signed up the night before and showed up just before 10am to realize I would be the only one doing the tour today. Even better. Scott’s welcoming and charming, a good listener and a very knowledge guide who seemingly enjoyed to share his local knowledge. His fluency in English made the tour into educational conversation that helped me better understand the culture. Thank you very much for the wonderful day on wheels, Sgott!

WE LOVED IT!

We are a group of 4 people (two couples), aged 30-35, from Italy. We LOVED this tour and sincerely recommend it to anyone who is interested in an out-of-ordinary tourist experience in Ayutthaya. Amazing bike ride experience

Not sure if this is the same tour that we did, so I added the link to the specific place we used for a full day Ayutthaya bike tour on the forum page "Colors of Ayutthaya Bike Tour". Our tour guide was Amm, if you can request this man he is INCREDIBLE. His knowledge is amazing, he doesn't push people's limits, he is patient and he even fixed my sister's flat tire. We also stopped for some refreshments along the way and played a gum ball machine lottery which had nothing to do with the tour but was a fun break. We started out by visiting a school, and listening to kids learn English. We visited the ruins of Ayutthaya, as well as the well known Buddha head stuck in the tree. It was fun exhausting and incredible. Again, Amm is the man; fun to talk to, knowledgeable, and just a fantastic tour guide.

Fantastic tour

I totally enjoyed this tour. Our guide was Gott and he is simply the best. Would give him full top ratings as such an excellent guide to bring us through 3 beautiful historical ruins sites in Ayutthaya. But less one star for this activity is because the bike somehow lost air as I cycled after halfway. Luckily Gott had tools on hand to pump up the bike and so we still managed to successfully completed this tour on bike. Also seat was too hard for my husband's bicycle. Finally I think helmets should be provided as the cycling also involves navigating busy roads and roundabouts. Just glad that Gott was there to guide us through the busy roads, but helmets should still be provided. Once again many thanks to Gott as our guide to make the experience a very memorable one!

Nothing short of amazing!

As a history enthusiast, I enjoyed the places we went to - more so on a refreshing bicycle tour around the old capital! Our guide, Thatipoom Donsomai (Best), was one of a kind! He was very accommodating and very knowledgeable about the places. He's also warm and shares travel experiences with us, and speaks Nihongo! Arigatou, Besuto-san!

Amazing tour by an amazing tour guide.

Shout out to out guide Thatipoom Donsomai (P'Best), he was awesome!! He provided us a lot of information, and was really entertaining. Surprisingly, he can also speak basic Nihongo. I also loved the video edit! Didn't expect that to be part of the trip. Kudos to Ayutthaya Biking Company!!

Excellent day out with Ayutthaya Biking Company!

Nothing but positive things to say about this company and our guide Amm. As we were the only two people on the tour, he was incredibly flexible and let us tailor the tour a bit more to our interests. He ensured we got to the train station on time, despite doing so cutting the tour a little short, and looked after my mother who was struggling a bit with the heat and humidity. Would recommend to anyone!

Excellent guide to make the tour a great experience

Our guide, Amarin Sukkasame (Am), provide excellent information at the sites and took good care of us throughout the tour. The tour was conducted at a comfortable pace for us.

Great guide, relaxing day

The tour was really good - I would highly recommend it for older couples or families. Our guide was especially good (Thatipoom Donsomai). I had other guides in Thailand who didn't talk much or give us much history, they really just were there to drive you around and organise your trip, but Thatipoom gave us a lot of info. I would have enjoyed perhaps a bit more off road excursions (maybe into a rice farm) and adventurous detours, but thats just me. Recommended.

Great way to explore Ayutthaya

We did a private bike tour, as we were traveling with our 7 year old son. To expore Ayutthaya by bike is great fun for the whole Family. Our guide Sao was excellent. She explained a lot about the history and temples of Ayutthaya. Thanks again for everything!

Nice experience to learn more about Thai Culture.

We made a 35 km trip with Sao as our guide. For us this trip was a great opportunity to visit Ayutthaya (after Bangkok and before taking the night train to Chiang Mai). During the visit of a local school we arrived straight into a ceremony the close the school season. The school pricipal was very happy to receive us and let us took part of the ceremony. The school was a very special experience. We continued along the rice fields to Wat Na Phramen where we learned more about Buddhism. After the lunch we visited most of the historical sites like Wat Lokkayasutharam and the reclining Budha, Wat Maha That and the Buddha head in tree and Wat Chai Watthanaram. When I look back at the trip I noticed that we've missed the historical site of Wat Phra Si Sanphet, maybe a good idea to add this to the trip. This trip is great to explore Ayutthaya in a short time!

I booked the day before while traveling by minivan from BKk to Ayutthaya. We were short in cash so being able to use paypal and book through internet was a big plus. I quickly got a response and great support by chat with Dave, who suggested the best tour for me and my husband. Sao was our guide and she mas great. 10/5 points! She was patient with us stopping to take pictures and she explained all of the sights and we even learned about Buddhism and a some Thai words : Kap um kaa (thank you) rotee saimai (sugar candy). Lunch and refreshments were delicious and cold water was made available during the tour. This was a great experience. Highly recommended. Thank you!

Fun exploration

Guide Sao was very well informed and shared great history about the City. She was very patient, switching and adjusting the bike until it was suitable. The tour was manageable for someone who hardly cycles and it was a very interesting way to explore the city. A very pleasant first experience and will definitely do another bike tour if possible.

It was an excellent way to see Ayutthaya.

We did the trip with our guide Sao. She was excellent ..got us fitted with bikes quickly and then we started the tour immediately. Our first stop was the Temple as the school had a holiday ...we then crossed the river and then started biking the back roads through rice fields and the Elephant kral to another temple. She then ordered lunch for us at this riverside restaurant which was great and thereafter we went to see the ruins... she was very good at explaining each of the ruins and its importance. She took pictures for us and gave us time to explore the ruins on our own...she also took us to a local market. Overall it was good tip ..a day well spent. We were all glad that we took this trip.

Great trip and guide, email after not so good.

I took a private family tour. First the guide was absolute 5 plus stars. His name was Best. He was the best guide we had in all our days in Thailand. Very professional and did a great job. They dropped the elephant camp from visit which is a great choice as it looked like the camp did a poor job. It is a long day but very enjoyable. The communication from the company prior was excellent. Loved it. Why 2 stars. The email I got from the company after the trip was in my opinion highly inappropriate. It asked me to write a review on trip advisor. It stated that my guide would be rewarded for a 5 star review. I think this is not right. One I think it can lead to inflated reviews on trip advisor and thus needs to be investigated. Second , what if I loved the guide but didn’t like aspects of the tour? Would the guide be penalized for a less than five star review. In my opinion , the company runs a great outfit. Quit pressuring customers to leave great reviews. Let your product speak for itself.

Great way to experience Ayutthaya

If you are willing to see a lot of what Ayutthaya has to offer, this is definitely one of the best way. The tour will take you in places that are not so easy to find for a foreigner, and gives you the chance to see the "real" side of the city. For example, one of the checkpoint is an elementary school : there you can chat with the childrens and their professors and confront yourself with a totally different (at least for me and my wife) reality. The tour itself is well balanced, doesn't require specific preparation and they will give you everything you need to start this journey. An honor mention goes to Sao, our guide, which was very prepared, nice and leaded us to discover these beautiful places in a very passionate way.

Great way to see Ayutthaya and surroundings!

We loved the tour with our guide Sao. We had two young childeren and they also liked the tour. The bikes and child seats are very good, although we missed a little basked so we could easily take our stuff (because a backpack isn't possible in combination with a child seat). The ride is easy because the roads are good and flat. We had a nice lunch and got enough water. Sao didn't cycle to fast so it was not to exausting despite the heat. For the kids it would have been nice to go closer to the elephants, now we only saw them from the road. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see a lot of Ayutthaya in 1 day.

Excellent day out

What a fantastic tour this is - would highly recommend it. very well organised with plenty of water and lunch was again fantastic. OUr guide Best was very knowledgeable and made everyone feel welcome. ITs the best way to see AYutthaya. ON route we visited a school and met with the children, we went backstreets and saw how the people live, we saw elephants. Thank you to Best for such a fantastic experience-will definitely look at doing the Bangkok ride when we return to bkk.

Great way to see Ayutthaya!

I took this tour with Sao as my guide and had a great time. I was only doing a day tour from Bangkok and both Sao and Dave were very helpful when I was trying to figure out the train schedule. I ended up being the only one on the tour that day so we started when I arrived, and Sao got me back in time to catch a return train. I do not consider myself an avid cyclist but my bike was my main form of transportation when I was in university. I've been out of school for about a year and was a bit nervous about biking all day, but the pace was fairly leisurely and the route was mostly flat with light traffic. I was definitely tired by the end of it but I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see a lot of Ayutthaya in a short period of time, and who has at least a little expertise biking. Overall, I think this was a great way to see Ayutthaya in a day!

Wonderfull day trip !

I went a saturday by train to Ayutthaya (this is an experience by itself ;) ), and Khun Sao was already waiting for me for this trip. I was lucky to be the only customer that day, so we could do all the trip at my pace, and I could take advantage of all the (very large) knowledge of K. Sao ! She really knows the history and the sites ! The bicicle was very good and well maintained, Khun Sao had with her tools in case needed; a helmet is also provided, and I also had plenty of cold water all the way. The routes are paved, and the landscape is flat.. so beside the heat, it is a nice, easy ride. Lunch is also provided in a restaurant, this could be eventually somewhat better. In all, I really enjoyed this trip, admiring these wonderful ruins and temples, and appreciated the kindness, fun and culture sharing of Khun Sao. Fully recommended!

One of the most beautiful experiences in Thailand

One of the highlights of our trip! We had a great day with Bella, our guide on the bike! She was very responsible, friendly and funny! She was very knowledgeable and told us a lot, introduced us to the culture and we were able to ask her lots of questions. It was a great experience and we learned a lot of new things! Thank you!

Ein toller und lehrreicher Tag mit unserem sehr freundlichen und kundigen Guide Bella. Wir haben die ungefähr 21 Kilometer lange und abwechslungsreiche Tour sehr genossen und Bella stand uns geduldig für alle unsere Fragen zur Verfügung. Die Fahrräder waren gut gepflegt und das gemütliche Tempo machte die Tour zu einem Sightseeing-Vergnügen. Das Mittagessen war sehr lecker gewesen und zwischendrin gab es immer wieder Wasser und leckere Dinge zum naschen. Eine Leckerei vergaßen wir am Ende der Tour mitzunehmen – Bella brachte sie uns sogar zu unserer Unterkunft 😃. Wir können Tour und Guide rundum weiterempfehlen – vielen Dank!

Un día perfecto. Apto para todos los públicos, no se hace pesado y el guía es muy simpático, las explicaciones fueron geniales, se preocupo mucho por la seguridad y nos llevó a comer a un lugar poco concurrido pero de gran calidad. El guia Organizaba la visita para no encontrar a demasiados turistas. Los templos son maravillosos. Recomendable 100%...

Geweldige manier om Ayutthaya te ontdekken!

Wanneer je Ayutthaya wil verkennen en meer zien dan enkel de tempels is dit een must-do! Amm en zijn team stonden ons iets voor 10 al op de wachten en we kregen zeer goede fietsen ter beschikking. Als je wil kan je ook een fietshelm krijgen. In de voormiddag bezochten we een schooltje - rijstvelden - olifantenpakt. Bij iedere stop gaf Am een interressante uitleg. We hielden halt voor de lunch bij een gezellig restaurantje bij de rivier waar je gerust kon kiezen wat je nam. (Dit is ook inbegrepen in de prijs) Na de lunch was het tijd om een aantal tempels te bezoeken. Je komt door de uitleg ook veel te weten over de cultuur en het verleden van Thailand. Er zijn zeker en vast voldoende stops/gelegenheden om te drinken of om naar het toilet te gaan. De gidsen zijn erg bezorgd om je. Als mooie afsluiter van je fietsavontuur krijg je ook nog een kortfilmpje toegestuurd door Amm. Zoals ik al zei, een aanrader dus!! Groetjes, Katrien & Simon

Zeer geslaagd!

Zeer aangename manier om Ayutthaya te verkennen! Alhoewel het eigenlijk véél te warm was om te fietsen (38 graden). Zeker op het middaguur. Na het eten direct weer de fiets op in de volle zon was niet zo’n goed idee. Bi en Jay waren zeer vriendelijke gidsen! Ze doen dat super goed!! Wel één klein minpuntje: de fiets van mijn zus was niet optimaal. Haar stuur stond volledig los wat voor problemen zorgde en wat voor haar een groot deel van het plezier verknalde. Mss toch de fietsen een beetje beter na kijken vóór ze uit te lenen. Al bij al een zéér geslaagde uitstap! Een aanrader!

Geweldige manier om Ayutthaya te ontdekken

Dit is absoluut een aanrader om Ayutthaya te ontdekken op een aangename en rustige manier. Onze gids Ann was super en zeer goed voor de kids. Hoogtepunt van onze trip was een bezoek aan een lokaal schooltje. Doe deze trip dus zeker in de week.

Mooi en goed te doen

Ann is geweldig, ze heeft ons de hele dag in de watten gelegd, verteld, water gehaald, toegangskaarten gekocht etc. We zijn bij een school geweest wat veel indruk op de kinderen gemaakt heeft. Tempels, rijstvelden, met een pontje overgestoken, van alles. Heel goed geregelde tour! Alles vlak, lekker fietsen en veel te zien. Eten bij een lokaal tentje, lekker! Een hele mooie dag gehad en net als Bangkok is ook hier weer de fiets het beste om alles te verkennen. Aanrader
