Taste the real Bangkok!

Great way to experience the city and really taste the culture. Our guide even went out of her way to help once we got stuck in Bangkok traffic on the way to the meeting point.

An enjoyable taste of Bangkok

Ohm was an excellent guide. His English was impeccable (he had a scholarship to study in USA for a year) and he patiently taught us a few words of Thai as we went along. He explained about the dishes, snacks, fruit and drinks that we tried (and sheltered us from the showers with his umbrella!) and told us about the Bang Rak area and something of the history and customs of eating and drinking Thai style. We had more than enough to eat and drink over the course of the tour, having skipped lunch. We certainly could not have finished all of each dish. I am vegetarian and he ensured appropriate dishes were served so that I felt I was still getting a full experience, not just ‘with the meat left out’. My only reason for not giving five stars is that in my communication with Taste of Thailand before booking I had said that we wanted a tour where were part of a small group rather than just a private tour for the two of us. Perhaps some people would feel that the fact there were only the two of us with our own guide was a ‘bonus’ but we like the opportunity to meet other people and not be the sole focus of attention. It would have been courteous, I think, to let us know in advance that there were no others booked on the tour, but of course this is a management issue, and in the end Ohm put us at our ease and ensured we had a pleasant and relaxed evening.

Great local food tour

We had a great food tour with our guide Ohm. He was very knowledgeable and he explained a lot about local food. Our favorite was the roti with pandan with banana inside. Food was delicious, we were very happy with our experience.

No show, very poor sevice.

Nobody turned up for the tour, we waited at the appointed meeting place for half hour, the guide bid not turn up..... We have tried to contact the operator without success. We have contacted our bank to have the payment cancelled and the funds returned! This is the second time we have had an issue with Viator, we will not be using them again. We strongly recommend others do not book this tour or us Viator!!!!

Our tour guide Yok brought us to authentic stalls and restaurants and we tried a great range of food and drinks! Yok was really informative and helpful also!

Fantastic introduction to Thai Food in Bangkok

Excellent food tour with Taste of Thailand Food Tours. Pat, our guide was great, very informative and we tasted a variety of dishes. It gave us an insight into the many different cultures that have influenced Thai cuisine. The only down side was we ate too much!! Do not have lunch before this tour!

Fun and Friendly

Really enjoyed the tour with Pat who was friendly and informative. It was lovely to visit places we might not have found ourselves.It was like being with friends and we enjoyed sampling the variety of food and drink.Thanks also to Nid and the lovely young girl who was the photographer !

An excellent street food tour!

Yok, our guide for the evening, gave us an excellent and most enjoyable tour. She explained the various dishes and, pitching the level of spice exactly right for us, introduced us to new experiences in taste! She was kind and interesting and good to talk to. She took photographs for us on her camera, which we hope she will soon send to us. Altogether thoroughly recommended!

A great food tour

We had a great experience. The tour was fantastic and good value for money. Yok, our guide, was very knowledgable about the food, culture and history of Bangkok and the Bang Rak area. We visited a number of hidden food sites and sampled some lovely food. Yok's local knowledge was invaluable and we had a great evening. She could not have done more to make the evening special.

Eating on the run

We enjoyed the different food dishes. Some we enjoyed more than others but it was a matter of taste not preparation. Fun people watching! It’s a nice game ay to get introduced to Thai cuisine. Loved it!

Another Great Eat and Learn!!

Very well done tour, with great mix of "street" food from vendors, small kitchens in the Bang Rak Market, and excellent local restaurant. Knowledgeable guide described the traditions of each dish, and ingredients. There was considerable local history she presented as well. Evening tour seemed best while market is busiest and most interesting. This is a must do tour; especially fun after having done a cooking class in the AM. This particular tour was a meal's amount of food. Don't eat a late lunch!

Great small group food tour

A great way to learn about food in Bangkok even if you are a regular visitor. You get to taste a selection of dishes, drinks and fruit and learn about the city. Great value. Easy walk.

Wonderful Thai food tour

authentic surprises

Having lived in Bangkok for already three years, I was surprised that I still had much to learn and our guide K Aoy tailored her tour and explanations about food and the localities to our interests. We really enjoyed walking with her through the lovely backstreets and the market and to stop at places that so far I had walked by and where now I would drop into again to remind myself of the lovely experience. Bangkok Food Tour

This tour was great and good for all ages. Our tour guide was so sweet and friendly. She took us places you would normally not see or even know about. Highly recommended and the food tasting was an adventure!

Awesome tour, even if century eggs were not my favourite

My partner and I were lucky to have Yokfa all to ourselves for the walking tour, so we breezed right through it, trying quite a few different thai dishes to help us get acquainted with Thai food for our first visit. Yokfa was AMAZING and if I am ever in Bangkok again, I will definitely request her when bringing friends and family on the tour.

Bangkok street food tour

Yok did an amazing, tasty, well-organized food tour for us. She explained all of the ingredients in the dishes and the processes necessary to create them. Every place we stopped was friendly and sanitary. She even took photos to email to us so we could feast our eyes on this very informative cultural experience. Not too much walking and she spaced the visits into air conditioned venues as well as street carts. We had a wonderful experience!

Great foodtour Bangkok

Tonight we booked a foodtour. Unfortunately we were rather late, but our guide Yok was patiently waiting for us. She lead us to various restaurants and foodsellingpoints. We came to places we would never have visited on our own and we enjoyed some great and sometimes interesting flavors. Yok had everything organized very well and even brought wet tissues to clean our hands. We had a wonderful evening thanks to the Thai tastes but certainly thanks to Yok. We rate her with a 10!

bang oak food tour

Yok was our guide and she did a great job! We had some very interesting foods and a real variety of dishes. If anything, I think we ate too much at the beginning of the tour and therefore got really full before the end of the tour. I would lighten it up a bit at the beginning if I were to do it again.

Eating like a local

Great way to experience all the local eats when your clueless Americans and it’s your first time Asia 😁 Our tour guide Yok did a fantastic job of showing us a range of spots from snacks, full dinners, drinks, fruit AND dessert. No Pad Thai or mango sticky rice here, this is the authentic stuff! Yok knew the answer to every question we asked, even modified a few spicy dishes for us. Definitely come hungry because you will leave FULL! So fun and delicious.

Wonderful insight to Thai food

We had a great time and thanks to our guide Beau a wonderful insight into Thai food. Beau was informative and fun and the itinerary she put together for us captured a perfect range from street vendor, back street eateries and one high end restaurant. Will be recommending whenever we can.

Disappointing

What makes for a good food tour? What makes for a bad one? At the most basic level, you'd hope for good food, and I would say that this tour fulfills that promise pretty well. We experienced a variety of different foods and got to see the wide range of influences in Thai cuisine. I'd argue, though, that the best food tours have not just good food but insight and context into what makes that food good and what makes that culture unique. This was lacking. While our tour guide did drop a few facts here and there, and explained the ingredients that went into each dish, there wasn't a whole lot beyond that. In fact, most of the time he just presented the dishes, waited for us to taste them, and asked us if we liked it. Let's just say that the dinner conversation wasn't exactly free-flowing. What really disappointed us, however, was when our guide loudly castigated someone for getting one of the food orders wrong. He explained that because the man was an immigrant, he couldn't understand what he was saying. Regardless who or where you are in the world, I feel like you should always treat food service workers with a certain amount of respect. They have difficult enough jobs already, and they are, after all, handling things that go inside your mouth.

Good food tour overall

Bella was a great tour guide. We got to go to places we never would have stopped at on our own and got to try some great authentic Thai food. However, she took pictures at every stop and said pictures would be emailed to us and we never received them. Was really looking forward to the pictures to document what all we got to try.

Food, Glorious Thai Food

An exciting and unique way to explore Thai food with a guide who will take you to food hotspots and outlets to sample a wide range of traditional Thai dishes. Bella took us around and she was friendly and informative. Be prepared to eat a lot! So fun. Highly recommend.

Must do!

Had a great time being shown around with the others in the group by Yok! Although I did this near the end of my trip I would say it’s a great way to get familier with the local cuisine.

Yok is Amazing!!

Yok is an excellent guide! She takes care of each of us and is really friendly. We can really connect with her as she chats with us while taking us around Bang Rak (Village of Love). She was very interactive and informative when telling us about the history of the shops we went to. Yok also has a very good command of the English language. She is truly a very genuine and friendly person. Will see you the next time we return to Bangkok!!

Nice tour

Very nice tour around Bang Rak area. We tried so many different foods - SaSa, our guide was very polite, professional and knowledgeable. She explained everything and gave us space to enjoy the food. She even made sure we were in the taxi before she left us after the tour. Would def recommend.

Amazing!

Sasa was an amazing tour guide and made the tour funny and so much more personable! We ate foods that we probably wouldn’t have tried otherwise and were not disappointed with a single thing. Highly recommend this food tour for anyone who loves food! Definitely come hungry!

We did the food tour with Aoy and had such a great time! We ventured into little alleys and streets we would never have found on our own and loved everything we tried. Would definitely recommend this tour to others.

Yummy food with Sasa PERIOD! Sasa was amazing, full of energy, and a great tour guide! We learned a lot about the food and culture! Highly recommend Sasa on your next food tour.

Bang Rack with SaSa

SaSa enchanted us with her dynamic and ultra friendly personality as she guided us through the Bangkok food scene. She handled a big group with ease and we went from place to place- very unique places that you will not find on your own unless you are a local. We had amazing Tom yum soup, morning glory greens, and century eggs clearly made with love. SaSa’s wonderful sense of humor made us feel at home in Bangkok as we tasted banana pancakes and amazing fresh fruit with a delightful shop owner who let us taste everything- Dorian fruit, mangoteens, rose apples- yum! We went to two restaurants one that made me fall in love with duck after decades of avoiding it. The restaurant has been in the same family for 114 years so I felt like I was eating a piece of Bangkok history. We had amazing mint chicken at a place where the service was as wonderful as the meal. We ended the evening with green curry that was amazing and top it all off with some coconut ice cream. It was a delicious, educational evening and a whole lot of fun. It is a great way to sample local dishes so you should do this as your first activity in Bangkok. I have eaten glory greens almost everywhere I have gone in Thailand after sampling such a wonderful dish on this tour. Thank you SaSa for the warm welcome and an amazing evening!

Nice food experience

Overall, everything was good! Sasa is very informative as she was leading us to all the food places that we NEED to visit and eat. From the green curry to the local fruits, eveyrthing was delicious! Thanks to Sasa for the good food tour!

Walking food tour w June!

June took us on a tour around Bang Rak that was about 3 hours. There are 15 places on the path that you go and you try food from 6 or 7 of them (depending on if the restaurant/store front is open that day). June did a fantastic job showing us around hidden gems that I know for sure my girlfriend and I would not have found if it were only the two of us. June did a great job varying the dishes to show an entire local Thai cuisine. If you get the opportunity to take this tour, I recommend doing it one of the first days visiting Bangkok to try all the different food and become more familiar with the area.
