Amazing scenery

Beautiful sunset trip - definitely don't want to miss out on this if you have the time to enjoy the ride down the coastline.

Nice View, Bad Tour Company

The Keytours service is basically a bus ride to and back from the location. The tour guide doesn’t provide any useful information about the Temple of Poseidon but she basically read ad copy for a few of the towns we drove through. The ticket process was not very smooth. The tour guide had to go to the ticket counter to buy the tickets for those of us who bought the tickets through Keytours. You’d think they’d have handled that earlier since you have very limited time (about an hour) at the Temple. The worst part for me was that the tour guide didn’t tell us that the Temple closed their gates before sunset. When we arrived, we went up to the Temple, walked around, and then went back to the cafe to grab a drink and use the restroom. We were walking back to the temple to spend our last 15-20 minutes and the gates were closed and we were denied access. That was a really sour experience that the tour guide could have avoided by saying something like “Hey, gates close at 8:30, FYI” or whatever time. Also, on the ride back some people in the front of the bus talked the driver into blasting music.

Beautiful but lots of travel

The view itself was amazing, with a stunning sunset and views from the temple. However, we left late, and out of the entire 4-5 hour event we were only at the temple for 45 minutes, and the rest was travel/traffic/waiting to begin travel.

Needs improvement

The tour guide was very polite but could not understand what she was talking about most of the time. Her English needs improvement. Perhaps the tour might include drinking water. I was understanding that no food and drink allowed on bus ride but people had it anyway. I could overlook all of that except that she should have had a sign of some kind to alert us when we exited the site like the other tour guides . Customer care needs improvement. I will not book a tour bus tour like this again

Beautiful sunset and informative guide to Cape Sunion sunset at Poseidon’s temple ; 1 1/2 hr drive from Central Athens.

Nice Tour

Our guide was lovely and helpful. (She is studying archeology). The bus was very comfortable. No one could control the weather. It was grey and raining. Still, a nice trip out of Athens.

Very disappointed!

What we got was a bus ride to and from the Poseidon location and the ticket to the destination wasn't even included. There was no guide at all. We were very disappointed!!!

Breathtaking Sunset Tour

The sunset was spectacular! I wish there had been a guide to explain the significance of the temple and the surrounding area. Despite that, I highly recommend this tour.

Great place to watch the sunset!

This was a great choice for a half day trip! The bus ride is quick and offers lovely views of the coast all along the way. Our tour guide Melissa (I think she said Melisantha?) spoke eloquently and was very informative along the way. We had plenty of time to walk all along the trail around the temple. It was a very windy evening, but the views were stunning. Well worth it for this affordable tour.

Great guide and driver

Unfortunately the most memorable thing about this trip was that we did not get to see the amazing sunset like we did a couple years ago. I know you cannot control the weather only God can do that. The tour guide was very good as was the driver.

The views and the sunset are amazing......lots of photo ops along the way.....the bus ride was a little long but so worth it.......sit on the right side of the bus for ocean views

Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and the trip was cut short by one hour. Price wasn’t though.

Great tour!

Tour guide was good, bus picked us up on time and unfortunately the sun was out and it was a beautiful sunset so I couldn’t rate it one star. Had to do 5!

Awesome views

Really breathtaking views of the sunset and different shades of the sky. Temple is a marvel by itself and gets a golden glow during the golden hour.

Confusing

Our guide talk all the way to the end and t we could not see what she was talking about. Many were asleep. Also very confusing when no one know about the drop off points.

It didn't meet my expectations

The place is worth it and a very nice Tourguide but : - Not enough information as to where to find the place before you go - Few hotels included - you cannot enter the temple - as you are not high enough you cannot see the complete sunset - 80 minutes delayed at the return from what the experience description

Totally worth it!

So I know that it sounds and looks a little kitschy to do this, but it’s totally worth it. The temple of Poseidon is quite well preserved and make s nice backdrop to amazing views at sunset. Hint: you can get adult beverages at the restaurant, just put it in your water bottle as they only allow ‘water’ up at the site. It was quite lovely sitting on some rocks, enjoying a beverage, and watching the amazing views as the sun set.

Definitely a trip any tourists should take so worth it

It was a perfect night a lovely bus ride, well organized and they dropped me off very close to my destination as it was not in Athens

Stunning

I was lost for words. What a wonderful way to end my trip to Athens. The view as the sunset was just beautiful.

No refunds for last minute injury

I was afraid you would ask me to review this. A couple of hours before the tour was to begin, my husband fell and got a pretty large gash in his arm. He was bleeding quite a bit, and a concerned passer-by gave him a large towel to wrap around his arm. We proceeded to a pharmacy where they wouldn’t sell us any first aid products because they said he needed to go to a hospital. The hospital was a taxi ride away, and he had to wait for treatment. All this time I was asking Viator to refund our money because it looked like we wouldn’t be able to get to the pick-up point in time. We finally arrived back there, but only after the tour had departed. Viator said this didn’t meet their criteria for a refund! We just couldn’t be two places at once! So after all these years using Viator, I will now hesitate to use them again.

The tour and our tour guide Demetri were great. It’s a beautiful location and communication with the company ti make arrangements for pick ups was fast and easy

Basically a $40 Uber to Temple

I was expecting a little more from this, but you are basically paying for a bus ride from the city to the Temple of Poseidon to watch the sunset. I expected a better "tour" from the bus, but our tour guide's English was horrible and I could barely understand her - this was an English speaking bus. she basically was reading off a manuscript that was not entertaining at all. I went Monday July 3rd.You still have to pay to enter the Temple as well (no qualms there). Sunset was pretty, but I expected more.

Lovely photos!

This was really nice! I would recommend. The only thing was the drive out of Athens. We ended up driving an hour and a half there and then two and a half hours back due to traffic. We were only at the temple for maybe 1 hour. You definitely spend more time on the bus then at the sight. The tour seemed a little disorganised at the ticket. Some people had tickets and some people didn’t. Overall I would recommend but just be prepared for the traffic!

The views, the experience, loved everything about it. Our guide was excellent and very personable. And the sunset was amazing with the landscape and cove being as picturesque as anything I’ve ever seen.

Horrible tour guide, not worth the cost and view

Our tour guide was awful, she was not very fluent in English, soft spoken and elderly lady.. it was very difficult to hear what she was saying.. the drive to temple was longer than the visit to the temple.. sadly due to the clouds, we did not see the sunset as anticipated.

good tour!

I would have given 5 stars but, unfortunately, there was an accident in Rome and our tour guide was 35 minutes late getting to our already loaded and waiting bus. We missed all that time at the site- which was the prime time for taking pictures. We still got some decent pictures, but, the best time for the colors was missed. We only had 40 minutes at the site. For safety reasons, the site closes at 9 and they kick you out to enforce the closing. Guide was very knowledgeable and gave great background information. Hopefully, you will get the full time at the site!

Be careful with this tour

Would I recommend this tour from this company? Absolutely not. It's really a 6 hr trip. The first hour is picking people up at hotels (about 40 people in total). It's then a 2 hr drive down and back in heavy evening traffic, with about 35-40 minutes at the actual site. It a really really long journey. Be prepared if you go at night to be sitting on the bus for 4 hrs in total. Marie the tour guide was terrible. You could barely under her thick accent and she gave very little background on Poseidon. I really recommend skipping this and getting a private tour. The site is beautiful, but there are other ways of getting there than on this tour bus company.

Nice trip away from centre of Athens

Nice bus to sit in when you've been walking around in the heat all day (aircon is great). Very long trip, they take the scenic route, which is beautiful but also optimal for a little nap. The temple was cool from afar. We didn't get tickets to go near it, but it was completely fine still. There's a restaurant with a bathroom when you get there, but we didn't buy anything, so I can't say anything about the prices. Really enjoyed the trip, it's different from just walking around in Athens all day.

This was just ehhh.

This was a very long trip for one hour at the site. The bus was just ok. Every single seat was sold and some families couldn’t sit together. I was hoping our guide would have more information to share. She was brief. There was nothing additional said on the way back from the site so it felt like a longer ride. If I had to do over again, I would have considered a private car/tour instead of a 50+ person tour.

Nice Evening!

Stavros gave a great history of the place and also pointed out interesting sites during the bus trip. There is also time to wander on your own. The day was overcast but we still were able to see a sunset.

The fact that there was no sunset Happens only once or twice a month we were told But beautiful ride there and site And we really liked the guide Anastasia ? Would try to give advance warning that good chance there would be no sunset...

Sunset at the Temple of Poseidon

This tour was just what we were looking for. The bus ride to the Temple was comfortable and the tour guide shared interesting information. The view was lovely too. At the site, the tour guide efficiently picked up the tickets and shared additional historical information. It was lovely to have free time to walk around the temple, take photos, enjoy the view, and experience a beautiful sunset. The ride back to Athens was equally comfortable with Greek music for background. The length of time was perfect - it blended in with our day and capped it off beautifully! Perfect little tour!

Other cheaper ways to get to the temple

I was disappointed that we didn't have more time but a late pick up and traffick meant we we only got an hour. Also despite there being a WC on board we were told that at hhe tour office was our last chance to use the toilet. We were also told we weren't allowed to eat on the bus so this caused a big issue as we were on the bus for 1.5 to 2 hours each way, only given an hour at the temple and of course wanted to watch the sunset and read the information so we had no time to get anything to eat at the cafe there. You also get ripped off by buying the entry through the tour as a 'skip the line' offer- its only 10 euros but they charge you 20 euros for it. There's not a big line if any at the temple so if you do book this just but it yourself. I think you can do it on line too. The guide was very good though. I'd advise getting the yellow bus around Athens and get the 20 euro extention to get to this temple and get your own entry.

Amazing temple worth the visit at sunset

Poseiden's temple at sunset was amazing, just beautiful, this is what we came for however the trip could have been better organised. Our trip was on a Friday and it looks like Friday traffic like in any city was very bad as it would be in any major city. It felt like the meeting might not have been thought through as we were final pick up and left 30min late, it felt like there was panic amongst the organisers too at how late it was. Our guide was OK, sharing information enroute, I think our taxi driver from the airport gave us more insightful information about the city than she did. Once at the temple we were given headsets to hear all about the site however we barely heard a word she said, it felt very unorganised there too.

Amazing experience!!!

This was a fabulous addition to my Athens experience. It was easy to find the meeting place for the bus, and the bus itself was air-conditioned with outlets for charging devices. The site itself was a little more than an hour away, and our tour guide pointed out notable landmarks on the ride there. We arrived just in time to take some touristy photos of the Temple of Poseidon then to sit and watch the beautiful sunset over the water. This was well worth my money and I would recommend to anyone with a few hours free in the area.

Our tour guide was very informative and told us a lot about Greek history. He made the tour very informative but also gave us free time to explore the temple and everything on our own.

Nice tour; however…

Overall, the tour of Cape Sounion was nice; however, we waited a little longer than expected, bus was running a little late, but it happens, and upon arrival, I was told I could not drink my non-alcoholic beverage while riding the bus. Additionally, we got dropped off at the Cape and we were informed we had about 45 minutes, before I knew it we had to prepare to depart. My wife and I proceeded to the restroom and before we knew it was time to go, so we returned from the restroom, we were late and asked where were we, we said the restroom, boarded the bus and departed. I think it would have been nice to stay longer at the Cape than just 45-50 minutes.

Rainy but…magical evening.

Amazing trip and unforgettable time. Pick up and drop off on time. Dimitris is a walking Wikipedia 😀 with great sense oh humour. He simply changed rainy afternoon in magical evening. Lied to, rushed, and deceived.

I think that this tour would have been amazing, but unfortunately, my mom and I didn't have a great experience. We scheduled a hotel pick up for 3:00. When I confirmed my pick up time, the representative said 3:15, and across the street from our hotel. At 2:50 my mom and I are waiting across the street for the bus, wondering where it was going to stop since there was not stopping on a main street. At 3:00 I confirmed pick up time and questioned the safety of the pickup. They told us to wait there. At 3:09 I see a the tour bus drive by in the middle lane. At 3:15, I called back and the representative said the bus will be there in 4-5 minutes. So we waited. At 3:33 I called back again and this time the representative said to wait across the street as it's a safety concern to pick up where we were, which I had already assumed. As we were walking back to in front of our hotel, the guest service representative came out and informed us that the bus was on it's way. The bus arrived at 3:42. Once on the bus, the bus driver didn't even wait for us to sit down before he drove off fast. The tour guide on the bus tried re-explaining what she had already shared to the other guest on the bus. Now the bus driver is driving extremely fast because the sun is already setting and the location from our hotel (last pick up) was an hour and 7 minutes away. When we go there at 4:50, the tour guide shared we had 1 hour. We didn't get to take our time taking photos. We didn't get to experience the Cafe. And we were rushed inside the gift shop, as when we approached the Temple, the gates were closing. We took the few pics we could before the sun set, and we were waiting for the bus to come get us when another person on the tour started talking to us. We had informed her that we received an email from Viator explaining that the bus was late picking us up from the hotel because the had to go to another hotel and pick up guest. When I was talking to her, she explained to me that the bus driver forgot us and they did not stop at another hotel to pick up guest. Viator representative lied to us for the reason the tour bus being late to pick us up. The tour would have been amazing if I wasn't nauseous from the drive up on a winding road and the bus driver driving very fast. Then we were limited to only an hour. I was highly disappointed. This isn't my first booking with Viator, so I knew not to expect this let down, but I did. Nonetheless, the temple and the view was amazing. And I'm sure the pics would have been amazing with a great sunset.

Great view of sunset. Absolutely worth to visit if you are searching something around Athens. The route to the temple is also with nice view of the sea.

Chasing the Sunset at Sounion

I did this tour in November 2019 as an excursion off a cruise. The weather was poor. Poseidon must have been in a foul mood, cloudy and raining skies, the sea was rough. I had the opportunity to visit Athen again this year 2022. I decided to go on this tour again to experience the sunset. Poseidon did not disappoint this time. Magnificent sunset. Anastasia was an awesome tour guide, very informative and knowledgeable. Coincidentally, she was the guide for both of my tours at the Temple of Poseidon. Great job both times.

An average trip to a must see spot.

While I'd recommend going on a Sunset Tour to Cape Sounion to see the spectacular sight yourself, I wouldn't rush out and recommend KeyTours as the best operator to see it with. Staff in the office were very rude and when the coach was late didn't like us asking for updates. The Tour Guide was very knowledgeable and I found him fascinating but he narrated pretty much non stop for the entire journey which some of our group found boring. We got to the site and the tour there was pretty rushed and we didn't get the headsets promised at booking so it was hard to hear over the wind. I'd recommend going but maybe hire a car instead of KeyTours.

Timeliness

The tour and tour leader , Anna, were great. The bus was an hour late picking us up with no notification. They did respond to an email I sent but simply said they would be there in 10 minutes. For an hour delay, I would think they would contact me - they had the emails. No excuse

Coach trip

This is basically a coach trip to Cape Sounion and back. Long journey there as the coach stopped for many pick-ups and then a 15 minute wait for the tour guide to arrive. She talked the entire 2 hour journey, which was painful. She knew her stuff but it was very dull and just went on and on. The sunset at the temple is stunning - top tip is to grab your pix just after everyone leaves. Bring your own drinks as the queue for the bar (and the loo) is long. Well worth the trip to see the cape and the sunset but I wish we'd just hired a car for the day.
