Temple of Neptune Outing

It was a great view of the sea and the temple. We also got great views of the coastline and the seaside villages along the way. Trouble is there were no photo stops along the way, just there and back.

Temple of Poseidon tour

The coach was quite comfortable and our guide was very knowledgeable. Good tour. As a bonus, we saw a tortoise and a mama partridge with her babies.

Fantastic Place and Guide

As a review I wanted to break down each element to help others: 1. Collection: Lots of choices on the website and we selected a local collection point. Chats arrived on time as stated and was a very easy process. 2. Coach & Trip: It is a long trip (hour and a half) but the coach was very comfortable and clean. The ride was very smooth. I would say sit on the right side of the coach on the way out of Athens as you get to see more of the scenery. Just be warned on the way back you could be stuck in traffic. 3. Tour Guide: Our guide was excellent. She explained different landmarks on both legs of the journey as well as historical information. At the temple she talked us through the location before leaving us to do our own thing. She was knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. 4. The Temple: Fantastic and beautiful. Just be warned you will be there between 30-45 minutes before heading back. Still this was plenty of time. 5. Drop Off: If you want to be dropped off in central Athens they are happy to do this and they are very accommodating. Overall: Absolutely fantastic experience and great guide.

Not a very interesting tour

Long drive on a windy day. Takes about 5 minutes to see the temple. The group was nice and small. Great views - but that’s not uncommon in Greece. At least there is a cafe.

Not to be missed!

Absolutely a must! Anngelina our Tour guide was outstanding, warm, friendly, fun, knowledgeable, a wonderful communicator! On travelling over she gave a great potted history of Greek legends, Greek history, for me an unexpected pleasurable bonus. Our driver was exactly as described, professional and safe. We 1st visited an ancient theatre, but the Temple of Poseidon and sunset was SPECTACULAR, and I would add every photographers (professional or amateur) dream experience. I think we were extra lucky due to the clouds further enhancing the sunset! Highly recommend!

Disappointing

It’s a long trip just to see a temple that whilst in a spectacular location, is not that impressive in itself. The drive there is effectively through lots of residential areas with the sea on one side and nothing else if not me to see on the way. Really odd and I think misleading that we had little free time there and left before sunset which is the best time to be there, plus it meant we got stuck in the evening rush hour traffic and got back late. I’d choose another tour.

Cape Sounion

This tour was so informative. The guide share so much rich history of the area. Beautiful sight and great cultural lesson. Beautiful ride to the destination.

Just acceptable, disappointing tour guide

Nice trip along the coast to cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon. However the tour guide was not very engaged with the patrons while in transit to the site.

A great experience.

If interested in cultural and historical sites, this is definitely one of the places to go. It was a great experience for me. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

Would not do it again

Long drive for very little to see - have done much better value tours … I’d like to see more included for the price

Nice change from the city

The driver and tour guide were great. Lots of good info and he had lots of good stories to go along. The site was nice but not sure it’s worth the $. There are lots of the same type places right in Athens. It was a nice change from the city though

Accurate description of...

Accurate description of the trip and the total cost, most similar tour trips wrongfully advertise lower costs e.g. by omitting the entrance fee. The bus and the driver were nice, the guide was also very good. They also arranged to pick up several people from locations different from the meet-up point without any delays or inconveniences to the rest of us.

Highly recommended and not to be missed

The skillful driver, the very comfortable air-conditioned coach and the very knowledgeable guide whose commentary was very educative Highly recommended

If you have a week or more worth trip. If you only have a few days, skip it.

This is a very scenic bus ride along the coast. It is long (about 1.5 hours each way). For about an hour at the site (20 mins guided and 40 mins free time). There is a restaurant at the site. Beautifully restored ruins and guide was very knowledgeable.

Good

Had its ups and downs. The positives is that the temple looked awesome, the area was quiet and so far it’s the only temple I’ve seen that doesn’t have scaffolding so great for photos. The negatives it’s a long journey there and the tour wasn’t fantastic. But would still highly recommend

Great tour, informative guide, nice bus. Overall, fun experience. (Was a little hard to understand guide but I got the gist. I’m not going to ding them for that.)

Wonderful!

Beautiful drive up the coast of Athens. It’s quiet and peaceful. The view’s spectacular. It’s definitely worth the drive, make sure to pack swim suits and you can stop at one of the many beautiful beaches on the way.

A nice experience!

Unfortunately we were unlucky with the weather with some drizzle of rain. With blue sky it would have been more magical. The bus driver was good, the tour guide very friendly and all went according to plan. It was nice to get out of the city and experience a little bit of the surrounding.

Thorough tour conducted by Joy. She is very knowledgeable. Bobieus, the bus driver, was great as well. Impressive views of the Athens Riviera!!! Thanks for the hospitality and professionalism. My wife and I really enjoyed the tour.

Refreshing trip out of the city

My family and I really enjoyed this excursion because We got out of the big city of Athens and saw the beautiful coast of Greece. The tour guide was excellent.

Temple of Poseidon Tour

I speciifally was interested in the Temple of Poseidon because I love the ocean so this was particularly interesting to me. I enjoyed the drive down, it was relaxing and I loved seeing the little shore towns along the way. While I understand some reviews were negative about the long drive for small ruins, I understood the nature of the tour, and I enjoyed it very much. Personally, after all the walking and the hills, I was happy to just enjoy the scenery on the bus ride. The guide and bus driver were very friendly and professional. It was easy to book the tour and luckily they had a pick up for my relatively moderately sized hotel.

Wonderful trip and temple

Friends recommended Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon. We are soo happy that we went and heard the excellent narration. The area and temple were amazing. The next night we saw the Temple from our ship at sea. It meant a lot more to know what we were looking at. Great job!

Poor customer service

The tour guide and tour company used is very very racist. My opinion being the only black woman on the tour when I first got on the bus with my brother we were the first pick up the bus driver made me feel uncomfortable. I sat on the first row and we went to pick up the other tourist, waited 10 minutes then they finally entered the bus to all the tourist and the bus driver got up skip the first role and show everyone else how to turn on and off the AC vents. Maybe they were upset because the company called and asked if I can meet them across that big street on the other side of the hotel and I refused to because I paid to be picked up at the Hyatt not across the street so maybe they wasn’t happy about that and the tour guide is the same one I had for my first tour which was on Saturday and she gave me information to where to meet at the end of the tour and she wasn’t there and I corrected her and put it in her place because if you tell the Terrace where to meet you at the end of the tour and you’re not there and my brother had to go look for her and then she says oh we met each other. No, we didn’t meet each other my brother found you, so I guess she did remember me when I told her that, but she was not welcoming to me, and I felt uncomfortable.

Great outing

Enjoyed the Temple of Poseidon as well as the drive to/back where we could enjoy the lovely beaches and oceans. Our tour guide was excellent

Bad Communication

I didn’t actually get to go on this tour. I was waiting 30 minutes early in the hotel lobby. The driver did not call my name when he came in the lobby, he simply asked the receptionist. Since I was not a hotel guest, the receptionist did not know me. The driver left without me. I asked for at least a partial refund but was denied. This was very disappointing.

Do NOT waste your time

I cannot stress enough how much this tour is not worth doing. The amount of time it takes to get from Athens to Sounion and back again is just not worth it for the amount of time on site. Not that you need more time on site, it is literally a few columns. If you’ve stayed in Athens then you’ve already seen things far more impressive than this site. Honestly, it is not worth sitting in the Athens traffic. This is no reflection on the tour company at all, it’s just not somewhere worth going.

Enjoyable english

Well organised with informative tour guide Dora. The drive was beautiful and picturesque. There wasn’t much to see in the temple area however we enjoyed the afternoon.

Wonderful tour!

I enjoyed this tour! An excursion to Sounion was recommended to me, and I think researching my tour options paid off with this particular selection. There was a lot to see and never enough time, but I enjoyed every moment of it!

Go to Poseidon!

This was a perfect afternoon! So glad we went. It's hard to see everything Athens has to offer, so it isn't easy to know whether to choose to fit in trips around the area. We found we could fit in a few hours and are so happy we took this excellent tour of the Temple of Poseidon. The bus ride is seaside and gorgeous and the views are stunning. Our guide was informative and fun. We wish there had been a sunset option for us but recommend people take this tour regardless!

Informative

It was an informative experience. It could have been better if our guide had a microphone and we all had headphones if some sort as there we times while walking we were unable to hear what she was describing.

A quick and easy way to fill in 4 hours in Athens

If you want to kill a few hours while you are in Athens this was quick and easy. 3pm pickup from a hotel near Syntagma Square (or a bit earlier if you want a pickup from your hotel). Modern comfortable tour bus with wifi. Tour guide all the way there and back with commentary on the way, at Point Sounion and on the way back. Back at Syntagma in just over 4 hours. Great little bit of history with plenty of photo opportunities. We’ll worth the spend

Cape sounion tour mainly excellent

Overall very good. we were told 2pm pickup. The guy arrived 20 minutes early and was not happy when we said can we have 5 minutes. Then we get on the minibus and waited outside another hotel for at least 20 minutes. The tour itself was great. Good guide.

Wonderful trip

Sightseeing the athenian coast and the temple is priceless. The tour guide gave us complete and most interesting historic and geographical information.

a below average tour

This tour was quite disappointing. We started at 3pm, spent over an hour driving very slowly in big traffic, spent barely an hour at Posseidon's temple, and then again over an hour in traffic. The tour's hours obviously aren't suitable for this trip. Our guide Mina barely spoke during all these "dead" hours on the but, gave a very simple explanation about the temple itself and didn't even try to go out of her way and do anything outside of her set lines. We felt it was a waste of time and money.

Temple of Poseidon Visit

Great place to be ...Guide was knowledgeable...Only gap, time given at Cape Sounion Temple of Poseidon is too less. Almost all time in trip is travel. Only got 50 mins at place. Would loved 90 mins to see all views properly and enjoy the visit rather then rush.

Not to be missed

A spectacular site to behold. Our guide provided interesting commentary the whole way there. Drive along the coast was beautiful. Would recommend this tour

The best guide ever!

Charalampos is the best guide ever!!!!! The tour is beautiful, it is worth it for the wonderful view and how impressive the temple is. Ending our visit to Greece with a golden key!

Average trip

Nice ruins and scenery, and maybe because of rainy wheather, we didn't get the best experience. There are so many wonderful places in Greece and places I'd love to revisit, but sadly, this is not one of them. Guide spoke both English and French, but could have checked facts (easy nowadays with internet).

Land’s End Odyssey

Wonderful, enthusiastic guide made Greek history, Greek culinary delights and the Greek language all come alive during the scenic journey down the Greek Riviera. And then we came to this SPECTACULAR vista. Nothing could prepare us for this panorama!

Wonderful tour

Wonderful tour. They picked us up near the hotel without any issues. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and overall a wonderful tour.

Great place to visit, but too long a drive. Very nice guide, rude jerky driver.

This is a nice 4-hr trip, with about one hour of sightseeing and 3 hours of drive in a bus. The drive is a little too long for what you do there, though the guide does make efforts to talk about Greek history and culture during this. The temple of Poseidon sits atop a gentle 10 min climb and the views are great, both there and on the way. We had a very nice guide who was knowledgeable and friendly. But also a very rude bus driver who drove in a jerky fashion. The driver told us repeatedly to not eat food or drink coffee on the bus. But he let an American family have chicken on the bus. The combination of that smell and the erratic driving made my friend very sick during the drive.

Well worth the time

The temple was amazing. Took great pictures. Wish we could have been there at sunset. If the tour had started at 4:00 it would have been perfect.

Inspiring temple ruins in the sunset.

This half day trip began with a pick up at our hotel. We had an expereinced guide who gave us the background to the religious cult of the temple of Poseidon. The journey was well worth the experience. The ruins of the temple, visble as we approached were inspiring and as we made our return journey, the sunset over the mountins was captivating. At the end we were dropped off at our hotel. A very satisfying experience. Hightly recommended.
