Our tour guide was enthusiastic and personable. We also met the owners of the company which was fun and gave us more insights into some things Greek! The variety of food and drink samples was phenomenal and we had way more food than we could eat. The stop at the honey shop was really interesting. This tour provided us with tastes of Greece that we would not normally try on our own. Highly recommended.

Best Food Tour in Athens

Rachel was just amazing! The tour takes you to some of the best local places in Athens where you try the best foods. Definitely would recommend to anyone visiting Athens.

A great range of food and drinks

This was a very enjoyable food walking tours. It was well-paced with a lot of interesting information about the food and drinks we sampled. We walked slowly through narrow lanes and the market, stopping at little shops and cafes, trying a range of food. We sat down in three places where the offerings included drinks. At the final stop, a feast of dishes were spread out for us - more dishes than I had room to try though I tried! The tour was certainly value for money. Rachel was very informative and offered a lot of additional suggestions for places to eat or things to do in Athens after the tour.

Great way to experience Greek food culture

Thank you Voula for a wonderful tour on 44C day. We appreciated the afternoon timing being moved to a morning start. We enjoyed the various food shops, main market, and food sampling along the way. The finale lunch was delightful with a sampling of many traditional greek dishes and drink. The conversations were great as Voula was very engaging with everyone. She had extensive knowledge about Greek cuisine and traditions.

Rachel delivers the goods!

Would definitely recommend this tour - Rachel was the best. We learned a lot about the Greek diet and way of eating while tasting great food, cheeses, olives and more at many locations. Beer, wine and ouzo too were part of the tour. Afterwards she directed our group to a rooftop bar with an amazing view of the Akropolis and Athens. The party continued thanks to Rachel.

Best Athens food tour

This Athens food tour is the best walking tour I've ever been on. Rachel was the perfect host, checking in with everyone to make sure they were OK. We tasted a lot of traditional Greek food. All of it was delicious and we also learned so many interesting facts about Greek culture. The best thing was that we visited all the unknown places were local Athenians shop and eat. If you're visiting Athens, Rachel and Mike's tours are highly recommended.

Exactly what we were looking for!

Exactly what we were looking for! The tour took us through several spots we would have overlooked. Mike was friendly, knowledgeable and patient. He seems to know so many of the shopkeepers along the route. We loved each of the stops we made and there was so much food! We started with one sweet and one savory pie at a coffee shop- delicious! Then on to a tiny Olive shop, where we sampled several types of olives and some world-class olive oil. From there, we visited a shop of flavored local honeys whose family has been beekeepers for 200 years. Next, we visited a small butcher shop where we sampled some meats and cheeses. We made our way to the colorful market, where Mike bought some fruit and cherries, then onto the section with fresh meat and fish. Here a shopkeeper had prepared for us some amazing grilled chicken on skewers- it was hard to believe just how simple the preparation was for that chicken! After the markets, we made our way to a spice shop, where Mike explained several of the less-known items- I was floored by how inexpensive the spices and herbs were compared with home! Lastly, we sat for a wonderful lunch of so many different and delicious dishes, finishing with ouzo and the prepared fruit Mike had bought earlier. The tour was excellent and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Athens who wants to know more about the food and cuisine here.

Wonderful filling taste of Greece tour!

I cannot believe how much food there was on this tour! This is not a tour with just a few bites here and there but you will leave full and happy! Arela was super enthusiastic and friendly. She made us all feel like locals and explained why the places she brought us to was authentic. Would definitely recommend this!

Great way to experience the city and its cuisine

Our tour guides made us feel like family. We loved how they got all of us to interact with each other and gave us the “local” guide to food. Loved that they paid special attention to my daughter, giving her extra sweet treats. Made her feel special. Spectacular!

Great way to start the day

Mike was very knowledgeable about Greek food and culture in Athens. I enjoyed the walking itinerary and getting to know the central market in Athens and the stores that locals shop at. We ended with a delicious meal of various plates. Highly recommend!

Wow wow wow

Booked after seeing on New Life In The Sun and it was even better than we expected! Rachel is so friendly and really gets to know the group (who were also fab - 7 of us in total). So much food, it was hard to say no, knowing that even more was coming, and I’m not the best at pacing myself! Couldn’t recommend highly enough, a fantastic introduction to Athens, and Greek food and culture generally.

Larissa was a great guide! She was extremely knowledgeable and a lot of fun to tour around with. We got to try everything Greece is famous for like olive oil, honey, souvlaki, meats, coffee, cheese, etc. Larissa did a great job of interweaving the Greek culture and traditions that involve the things we were trying. A Taste of Athens in every Sense !

Not to be missed ! This tour was fabulous and as there was just 6 of us the small group was ideal. The pace was just right and plenty of tastings from souvlaki with corn bread to olives , Greek Coffee, honey and so much more. Rachel was so enthusiastic and interesting. She made the whole experience a taste sensation. We tried exotic fresh spices and learned how to tell a proper olive oil too. The fish and meat market was not for the squeamish , but well worth the visit. We ended the tour with a fantastic array of Greek food and wine. Plentiful, colourful and tasty. I would recommend this tour to everyone.

A good food tour with cooking tips and generous samples

Our tour guide Michalis was great. I liked the cooking tips he shared as well as the camaraderie that he shared with many of the vendors at the food market. At some places I felt that we were presented with sales pitches for their products. But at no point was there pressure to buy anything. Just the opportunity to buy if we wished. The food samples were generous.

Food tour of local flavors that leaves you very satisfied

Mike, our tour guide, was amazing. He was friendly and knowledgeable and he knew all the local merchants. The food was a variety of local tastings and we were amazed at the amount of food we tried by the end of the tour. We went as 2 couples and we all enjoyed the experience. The feta cheese was the best we ever ate and I wasn't a fan of olives but I tried them until I liked one. Fun adult experience and highly recommend it.

A Culinary Delight!

A friend recommended this food tour and am so glad she did. Rachel and Mike were so friendly, making all the group feel welcome. Their knowledge of the produce and the food scene in Athens is unsurpassed! And one thing to consider if you fancy doing the tour - don’t eat beforehand! The food is delicious, varied and you get plenty - if you don’t leave full, you’ve not tried enough of the beautiful feast!

This tour was absolutely brilliant. Rachel was so engaging and chose wonderful places. All of the business owners in the area knew and loved her. The food and drinks she chose were all impeccable and delicious, locally sourced and made. We are foodies and were in heaven. We got great local insights about where to look for local goods without getting tourist fleeced too. I’d highly recommend this tour. We found out about her from friends and were not disappointed. This is a total wow of an experience. Skip breakfast for sure. You’ll be stuffed.

You won’t leave hungry!!

One of the best tours I’ve ever had. Rachel was full of great info about Athens, Greek life, and of course food. We had a smaller than planned group of seven so it was extra ideal (groups are still kept small when full). Each place we are at was wonderful-from honey and olive oil tasting to fun drinks to “ Greek salads” to gyro, pita, sausage, stuffed peppers, dessert, Greek coffee, and the list goes on and on. I had some dietary restrictions and it was easily accommodated. It’s also a great way to see a not as touristy neighborhood of Psyri, with all of its graffiti and delightful character. Brilliant!

Brilliant experience. Rachel knew everyone and obviously really enjoyed sharing the best and most interesting food in Athens with us. Well thought out in terms of pace, variety and sitting vs walking. Highly recommended.

A fabulous food tour with a true local

Rachel was our food tour guide, and she was fantastic. Growing up in the local area, she was greeted fondly by many of the stall holders in the market, restauranteurs and store owners. We tasted a huge range of delicious foods and had two sit down meals with generous and varied portions. It felt like we visited proper “local” places off the tourist map, I’m sure we’d not have found these things alone. Rachel also made a great effort to introduce the group to each other and it made for a convivial atmosphere - we enjoyed chatting with some of the other guests who were also there. It was informative but also fun! My only wish is that I’d had more space in my checked luggage for some of the amazing goodies on sale. Highly recommended, a highlight of our trip.

This tour was one of the highlights of our cruise to Greece and Italy! Rachel was so knowledgable about the area and seemed to know everyone in Athens! The food we ate was delicious and we couldn't believe how much we ate along the way! Tried so many different items and saw things we would have never experienced had it not been for this tour. Even my gluten free friend was happy!! Would highly recommend!!

Excellent food tour, Mikey took us he was so informative and though we have visited Greece many times (not Athens) we learned so much. Everything we tasted was delicious and very local always a plus. Tardy Tasting

Our guide was enthusiastic and informative. We were late and she spoke directly to the taxi driver to set up a meeting spot for the next stop so that we didn’t miss the whole tour. The group was gracious about us being late and she made sure our tardiness did not impact the rest of the participants experience. Our favorite was the market experience!

Greatest Cultural Experience!

Rachel and Mike were great tour guides and taught us lots about Greek culture and we all enjoyed so much wonderful food selections that gave us various taste of Greece. On top of the food tour we learned so much about the history of Greece, the people, the cities, the streets, lots about honey, olives, spices and more! Just a wonderful experience overall. Rachel was a ball of fun and has a genuine spirit and energy - she really loves the culture and it showed throughout the tour. Brilliant food tour!

We booked a tour as a family. I’d been to Athens many times but never really got off the main tourist areas to eat. Michalis took us to some great places mainly around Omonia. We were in a little group of 9. Proper traditional food and wine and lots of it. Very relaxed pace and really interesting too. Michael is very friendly and knowledgeable and the experience was well worth it. I’d highly recommend this tour.

Authentic Local Cuisine with Rich History, Fresh Seasonal Ingredients

The tour surpassed any of my expectations! When traveling, our family likes to eat like the locals, and we did that and more. Along with fabulous, fresh foods, we were given detailed history on local ingredients. Five plus stars!

Outstanding tour tasting the varied foods of Greece.

Mike was Truly outstanding ! He is knowledgeable, patient , generous and thoughtful. We saw and tried so many foods it is impossible to itemize them all. But they were all delicious, fresh and thoughtfully chosen. We had a fun group of 5 people and it all went smoothly and was extremely well put together.
