Loved being able to hop on and off the bus to see the different sights of Athens! Easy stops to find and buses run quite regularly.

Definitely Must Do!

We loved the hop on hop off bus tour- it gave us a good overview of Athens. It’s a great way to see the city and learn more about its’ history! We booked this tour after the Acropolis- and it was a nice, cool way to spend the rest of the day. We spend the afternoon at the beach- saving quite a bit on taxis.

Waited almost an hour for the bus on the beach linr

Waited at the Vouliagmeni Lake stop today for almost an hour before the bus showed up. I was there around 1:00 pm and the bus was supposed be there 13:45 but didn’t arrive until 14:08. Thank you for wasting almost an hour of my vacation time. I will not use Grey Line in the future.

24 hours in Athens Greece

Perfect day trip for Athens! All important stops on the tour. On time pickup. Could take the bus from cruise port to city centre.

Sorry for us.. well next time will be better.

Everything was fine until we arrived at Acropoli, and we got off the bus at the exit of Acropoli, we got lost and never found where the bus station was.

Family trip to Glyfada

We choose the Pireus, Glyfada and Astir Beach option and It has been worth it. 5th star missing only because the last bus had 30 mins of delay (guess due to the traffic). However, a special mention goes to Sohrab: we met this superfriendly/supportive sales guy that sold us the tickets. He made everything to make our experience enjoyable, from the tailored tickets (discount+full tour+flexible day) to sharing his number with me for any eventual need (that I actually had the day after). Precious. 🙏

Not a good experience

Unorganized . We took this from the cruise ship to have a tour of Athens. We were told at the cruise terminal that the bus would make a round trip and return to the port in 2-3 hours. Did not happen. The bus began making circle tours continuously. The only way back to the port was to change buses. The brochure is difficult to understand. We ended up getting off and taking a taxi back to the port. Never again!

Cheap but less frequent buses

Although it covers the same spots, the frequency of the buses are every 30 minutes for the city and much more for the other lines. It was cheap but that impacts the frequency of the buses.

Don’t use Viatar

Horrible experience. We have booked several events with you in Athens,Greece this week and if the entire week goes like this, we will never use Viatar again and warn as many people as possible not to as well. and to catch a hop on hop off bus. The instructions were very misleading. When we finally called , someone told us to look for the sign for the bus company(Greyline) which did not exist at the pick up point. Here are the vague, confusing and misleading instructions from YOUR email. “Departure point: Syntagma Square” “ Cruise Ships Terminal” “ address: 2, Syntagma Square” Hop-on hop-off tour with stops near cruise port Times are subject to change due to local traffic conditions” Who could figure out where to find the bus. We were NO WHERE NEAR-any cruise port, the was no sign at this location that stated Grayline. Worst experience we have ever had.

Excellent value for money, we did the city tour several times!

We loved this way to see the city and riviera. We did the city loop several times using several of the stops. There were guides at the busy stops like Omonia and Acropolis to help explain how it worked. We also did the Pireaus and Gylfada the following day to see the riviera, fortunately it was sunny and beautiful even in November. Excellent value for money with discounts for buying online in advance.

Easy trip in athens

Acropolis and athens riveria scene look awesome.the bus is punctual and staff is very helpful. The explaination on the sites is easy to understand.

A bus that can trust

It's comfortable and always come on time ,drivers are polite and helpful to answer ur question,I m lucky to get a ticket with a free day offer,means one day ticket payment for 2 days

The Bus magic in Athens

Fantastic tour to see the places around Athens and feel the fresh air all around. I took the trip two consecutive days.

Worst Bus Tour ever!

When I visit a new city I often jump on a bus tour to get the lay of the land and discover places of interest and listen to the interesting commentary about specific landmarks. The Gray Line bus tour in Athens certainly did not tick any of those boxes. The commentary was out of sync with the tour and you were left wondering where the landmarks were. That’s if it worked at all, as it seemed at times to give the same information twice. The tour itself felt very rushed, we appeared to be speeding through the City at a rate of knots. I appreciate that the tour has a timetable to adhere to, but with the traffic as it is in Athens, perhaps it needs to be revised. I am left feeling that I have wasted precious time on this bus tour.

a good way to get your bearings

A great way to see the sights and get your bearings in the city. Takes a while to get around though - sitting in traffic. Therefore made the bus late for pick up times too.

If you are on a tight...

If you are on a tight schedule this may not work well for you cos the wait times are long. The audio tour is not in sync with the places of interest. At this price point tho it's a great overall experience to get a good view of the place as long as you don't hop off cos the wait times are long to hop back in.:)

No better way to see a city!

The buses were clean and well maintained. They were very frequent and timely and employees were present at all major stops to help and advise as needed. The coverage and audio was informative and educational. Overall, it was a totally satisfactory experience.

Does the job, painfully slowly.

The bus was fine in itself, however be warned, this company has fewer buses than its competitors which means you will be sat aboard at a stop waiting for it to be full for 30+ minutes at a time. This is in peak season in August. Due to the nature of Greek traffic, their estimate of 90mins to do the Athens lap is not generous enough. Allow 2.5 hours to accommodate endless traffic lights, jams and waiting for other patrons. It took us one hour from boarding the bus at port, waiting, and arriving at the Acropolis (their estimate being 25mins). I wouldn’t book again, and would prefer to use the blue company.

Terrible experience

Avoid. The buses are infrequent, delayed and the ones to the beach are cancelled without telling you. Pay the extra money and go with the blue or red buses.

Good way to see it all

Very good way to see it all and have a complete experience in Athens. Had a nice time and took plenty of information through the audio commentary

Great tours

Great way to discover Athens. We enjoyed the bus rides almost for all day, stopped only to enter a few museums. Not long waiting for the next bus and the reps were very polite and always willing to help with useful information

Very nice experience

Very nice experience, we combined all lines and had a full view of the city. We will be back next spring and will join these tours again for sure.

Impressive

Impressive tour! Saw all the nice spots of Athens and spent a whole day in the riviera for swimming and sunbathing. Busses clean and on time and helpful staff

Enjoyed it

Enjoyed a full 2 day hop on hop off tour in the city center and the riviera. Very easy to join, stops at all main spots, busses on time and audio guide to get information for the monuments

Unique experience

What a unique experience! My friends recommended to join the city tours and they were more than right. We enjoyed it for 2 days and visited many attractions. Will definitely recommend to others

Don’t do if over 27 degrees

Air conditioner did not work and roof was open in blazing sun and 40degree heat Commentary was week and sporadic Had a two day pass and got off after one loop of one route

Best choice

Choosing the hoho yellow buses was the best way to get to all the monuments fast. Polite staff and helpful drivers made our tours even more fun. If you have time available join the Riviera line also.

Great time in Athens

Had a great time on the busses and enjoyed the information in the audio guide. We will be back in Athens in a few months and for sure we will choose the yellow buses for our city tours

Amazing experience

Amazing experience! Great way to see all the interesting sights. Helpful staff, frequent and clean busses. Recommended for a full city break!

Not a good experience

I have had many good experiences of HOHO in various cities, but this wsn't one of them. It didn't help that I knocked myself out on the wing mirror when I got on at the port. Not really their fauult but their desk was in the way so I went around it, too close to the bus. The narrative was almost non existent. Lots of music with very little information. By the time you had listened to the short message you were unable to get off. The Athens route is circular so if you just want to see some of it you can't. We ended up having to jump off and get a taxi back to the port. Also, I would suggest buying an e-ticket if possible as I lost my ticket and had to buy another. So 40euros for a bus ride from the port to Athens and then to the stadium was rather epensive!

Good way to see the city

Traffic in Athens was crazy. Typical big city traffic. The buses were the easiest way to get around. A little disappointed in 15 minutes timeline more like 25 to 30 minutes wait but worth it. We were able to use both the blue and yellow buses but truthfully the Ref buses seemed to be on time.

It's a fun tour and a excellent staff with beautiful new busses hop on hop off.In acropolis also have station just 100m from entrance.

Better off walking and seeing the sights yourself

Honestly rubbish. Not even worth the ride around town which is better walked. The seats are uncomfortable and it’s raining like it was you have no hope of enjoying yourself. Bars make the taking photos a nightmare and we didn’t even get a map handed to us or headphones. The drivers microphone is so bad you can’t even understand him.

The best way to familiarize the place. Staffs are very helpful.

Hop on Hop off is the best way to do on the first day of your visit to Athens. The bus will take you around Athens and stop where you want to familiarize the city.

A good way to see the city by bus

Interesting site seeing trip that covers Athens city & the outskirts. Buses are frequent & lots of stops. Staff were very helpful at the various stops. The commentary could have been better. There was too much music in between. Some of the buses didn't have the roof off which was a shame.

Go with the red bus

Pay the couple of euros extra and go with the Red Bus. The bus is super busy and for some crazy reason they block half the bus seats off so everyone has to stand. Massive regret not going with the red bus who have big modern buses and do not block seats off. Also not really any information just facts here and there from a quit headphones.

Don't nag, just go for it

There was one positive: a stunning view on the bay while returning from Piraeus. The voice over through the city, woman's voice British English) was pleasant to follow, but was overpowered by bus sounds. The Piraeus tour had an American accent that sounded like she was doing the adds, couldn't understand her because of the noise. Driving to Piraeus, I had to keep hold of my glasses and hat not to loose them. Don't expect the same experience in Athens as in Barcelona, narrow crowded streets spoil the fun. But... for that 13 euros you are of the streets for a while and after the trip you kind-a know the way around in the city. I was glad not to have to print a voucher, you get a ticket on your phone. You will get access to the bus but they don't know how to handle an e-ticket. Bus drivers drive better than interact with people. (but who cares while sitting on the roof..

Great value Airbnb accommodation available.

We loved the residential area where our Airbnb was located where there were many places to eat. The only downside was the time wasted trying to locate the ticket office where our Viator receipt was supposed to have been swopped for tickets for the Hop on bus. In the end, the driver accepted our receipts.

Not good

Bad audio. Couldn’t hear it properly (yes, volume turned up to full), descriptions of any interesting places didn’t seem to match up to where the bus was. Total shambles at the Acropolis “change over to different route “ stop. No one there at first to assist with this procedure until about 15min before the next timetabled bus arrived. We should have just continued with walking around the city and saved our money

Great way to get around Athens

Easy to use. Guides were very helpful and accommodating. Try all 3 routes to get full view of city. Beach area very beautiful.

Athens Riviera Bus tour

A really boring bus ride. This is not a tour, this is just a bus ride. The route to the "riviera is basically a trip down a motorway and then back. Best way around Athens is to walk

Unpleasant

If you want to see Athens consider free walking tour @ "Freetour.com" (the tour guides are very friendly and knowledgeable), walk by yourself, or take metro. Trying to get through Athens on a bus is a waste of time due to heavy traffic. I had a very dishonest individual selling me a "deal" for HOP on Hop off and Delphi day tour. BTW they will ask for cash because their card reader "is not working". Hop on Hop off is usually a good way to see new city especially on your first day, but not in Athens and definitely not with this company.

Use them at your peril!!!!

More buses needed to provide a better service. Long wait at some stops and 2 or 3 Red buses would pass. Audio information very poor most buses didn't work...gave up!!!! Stranded in Pireus walked to metro and got that back yo Athens.

Need to know before you go.

We were at this port for a long time but because of the timing on the hop in and off we were back 4 hours before we go. The good news is with booking this you get the option of the yellow and blue busses so it increases the amount of buses you see. The thing they forgot to mention when picking us up at the port was that the maps are different for the blue and yellow bus. Grab a map for both companies. Not all busses announced the stops so we got off at the wrong one but there were people at each stop working for the company and were very helpful. Piraeus to Athens it drops you right off at the acropolis which is great so you can tour there fist, but be prepared to rush into the Athens bus as it seemed few came to the acropolis and more for the beach and piraeus.

A scandal

Employee’s give a different hour. Impossible to go to worse. Only for MSC cruises. 40€ for that. A scandal. We have waiting 2 days for pireas tour. We have lost 2 days for nothing.

Failed to stop to pick up passengers.

Was at designated stop 10 minutes early. Bus arrived on time, slowed down but did not stop. There were plenty of seats available.

Flexible options

The price was right and have us the option of going wherever we wanted. Only drawback was the bus was hot and no Wifi!!!!
