Good introduction to local food

Stella was a great tour guide! This tour was a good way to see some parts of Athens that we wouldn't have otherwise seen and try some local foods away from the the tourist locations.

Wonderful way to start our visit to Athens

Our family had a great time sampling the various local delicacies as well as learning about the history of Greek cuisine. The pace was leisurely and the food was amazing. Stella was a great guide and made sure we tried the best of everything.

Walking Food Tour with Fotis

We did a walking food tour of Athens with our great guide Fotis Tsotoulidis. He was very energetic and was a man of an incredible amount of knowledge. He knew about Greek history, politics, wine, and of course food! I think he said he was a professor at a local university. He met us with a traditional Greek bread item that looked like a pretzel but was more sweet. We walked through town and our first stop was to eat these delicious little donut holes dipped in honey called Loukamades. They were hot and mouth watering. Very good and not too sweet. Our next part of the tour took us through the central meat market. We loved it but beware there are a lot of skinned whole animals showing or being butchered right there. Very interesting to see but not for the faint of heart. We went to our next step which included two Greek pies – one made of Spinach and cheese and the other made of cream and sugar which is more like a dessert. I would write their names down but I couldn’t pronounce them or spell them! We next headed to an olive oil and olive store where we did some different tastings of local olive oil. Given that it is a staple in the Greek diet, it was very fun to see how different they could each taste. After that we went to a central market and had the Greek gyro (Souvlaki). Some of us ordered pork and some ordered chicken. Both were delicious. Contrary to my thinking, Greeks do not eat lamb in their gyros, must be a non Greek recipe then! After a full meal we walked back to our flat and took a well deserved nap. Fotis was a fantastic guide and was very good dealing with both adults, teenagers, and our 2 year old. Well done!

Stella was an excellent guide introducing us to the food traditions of Athens. She filled the three hour tour with a variety of tastes and sights.

Great eating tour with the local culture

We did the private Athens food tour PRV-10 with Mirina. I was a little concerned since we had been in Greece for 2 weeks already and had eaten a lot of different foods so didn't know if this would be a waste of time and repeat of our experiences already. Happily it turned out to be a very nice experience. Mirina did a great job hitting unique places within the city and finding some great places to eat. We hit the Greek Donut shop (they are fantastic, but you can't get them until after 10 am which was annoying since we wanted them for breakfast), a phylogenetic pastry shop, several local stores with olives, spices and dried meats, finished off with a very nice gyro. Everyone in our group enjoyed the outing and felt like it was a genuine local experience.

A great insight into the city - and so much food!

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, it was a great chance to see areas of Athens we may not have visited, and the variety of food was perfect. Lucia was such a wonderful guide! Extremely knowledgable about the area and its history, as well as catering different dietary needs. Would highly recommend!

Loved this tour but recommend changing so groups don't have shared food

We loved this tour - Stella was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly and helpful and shared great information. The food selections were great, too. The only thing we would change/did not love was that some food items were shared - people using hands or utensils in the same container. We would have preferred food to be separated at least by couple, especially in this semi post-Covid era. The shared food freaked us out a bit.

Great Tour!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Marina was an excellent guide. She had so much information to share about life in Athens - the foods, the places where the locals go, and the off-the-beaten-path places to find the best spices, meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables. Anyone who is interested in the local culture of Athens and the central role played by food and times spent eating together, should take this tour.

Absolutely amazing half day tour! My teenagers loved it!

My 2 teenagers and I loved this tour! Eva/Ava was the best tour guide we had in our 15 days in all of Greece. She was so friendly and informative, she was attentive to our needs, made sure we were all together and taken care of. Definitely recommend this tour!

Great tour!

We did this tour and it really exceeded our expectations. We had a great time, learned about all sorts of Greek cuisine and ingredients, and got to see parts of the city that we may not have otherwise. We may have tasted a beverage or two, also. 😎 Eva was our guide, and she did a fantastic job. We highly recommend this tour.

Fotis was very knowledgable taking us to some great buildings, learnt about Greek history & tried lots of delicious Greek food on the tour. A great morning walking.

Great Guide, Great Tour

Having a good guide makes a good tour and Marina was a great guide. Not only did we eat authentic and delicious food, we saw local Athens neighborhoods and learned some of the background of the food and culture of Athens. It was a great tour!

Great way to eat your way across Athens

First - our guide Stella was amazing. Friendly and knowledgeable. We sampled local cuisine in the heart of the city as well as having a nice walking tour of the city center. While the tour is not strenuous, you will be walking for several hours; comfortable shoes and clothing are really a must.

Stella, our guide was excellent. It was informative, talking a bit about history of Greece and taking us on a route that is not to touristy. We had a great time.

Lots of Food & Snacks

We had a lovely time on our small group Athens food tour. We had 6 guests plus the tour guide so it was nice and small. We stopped at a number of stops and had a great experience in every location. Great serving sizes of everything and great personalised service. Our guide asked us if we wanted coffee and took individual orders as well as bought us fruit at the fruit market that the group wanted. FYI - you will see dead animals at the meat market.

Amazing tour

Fully enjoyed the food tour. Great choices of food locations, lots of information about Greek cuisine and culture, and ability to visit non-tourist sites in Athens. The hosts were wonderful.

AMAZING ATHENS ON A PLATE!

I have been meaning to write a review for ages because this tour was just amazing - our guide was fantastic, great knowledge of the area, and the food was beyond what we expected, so much to taste, and generous servings, we did the morning tour, and the food was incredibly yummy, every place we stopped the food had so much flavour - I have recommended all my friends travelling to Athens to not miss out on this tour! And do not eat breakfast before doing this tour!! The highlight for me was walking through the meat and seafood markets, so amazing to experience Athens like a local! Thank you

A charming and mouth-watering tour.

My wife and I, and our 10-year old granddaughter, greatly enjoyed this tour. Our companions were congenial and our tour guides -- Stella and Lucy -- were friendly and knowledgeable, and patiently answered our numerous questions. It turned out that we had two guides because, unbeknownst to us, ours was Stella's first tour, so Lucy came along to provide support, which really wasn't needed but which added to our experience. An unexpected bonus was that the tour takes you to a variety of interesting locations and neighborhoods, many of which are off the beaten tourist track. Highly recommended.

Great way to eat your way around Athens!

The tour was great and the food was even better. We made numerous stops and enjoyed the tour very much. Come hungry, because there was a lo of food over the 3.5 hours. Our guide, Evelina, was very knowledgeable and made us feel right at home. We would definitely do this again!

Great Taste of Athens!

This was a fantastic food tour of Athens! Evelina was a wonderful guide! It felt like she was a member of our family showing us around her favorite spots to eat. And we got to eat a lot! Great food for a great value. This will definitely cover breakfast and lunch! I highly recommend spending a few hours to go on this tour.

Lots of Excellent Greek food.

Our guide, Christi, did a great job! The food choices were all excellent and some were Greek foods I had never hear of or eaten. The walking pace was just right. Make you are plenty hungry if you take this tour because there is a lot to eat. The tour also includes walking through meat, seafood and produce markets.

Food and Cultural Delight

Walking through the different parts of the city tasting the different local flavors was such fun experience. The food was great and such a good variety. Evelina was a great guide, She was very knowledgeable and obviously loves her beautiful city. She made the tour fun and memorable and was very easy to be with. Delicious and fun!!

Incredible way to taste your way through Athens! Our guide Evelina was so fun and nice! She made the tour 100% worth it. I can’t even guess as to how many different food items we got to try… maybe 15 or 20? And the walking tour was a perfect way to burn off some calories and see some Athens neighborhoods at the same time. I’d recommend to anyone who likes food and culture!

Fantastic value for money

Wow best food tour we have been on. Evelina was fantastic and so passionate about her work and her city. She was just delightful so warm and friendly we felt very much as ease and in safe hands. We had masses of food, learnt about the history behind the food and were completely stuffed afterwards so don’t eat before you go!

Amazing food tour

Loukia was a wonderful tour guide. She took us to so many places that we never would have found on our own. It was fun to meet the shop owners and have them tell us their stories. I would definitely recommend this tour at the beginning of your visit to Athens so you become familiar with the food scene.

A Feast For The Senses

A very nice walk through a part of Athens that we were not likely to visit otherwise, we got to taste and learn a lot about traditional Greek food and culture. The highlight for me was the visit to the meat market with stalls and stalls of poultry, pork, beef, and fish products of every kind imaginable. Our guide, Christi, was excellent! She explained where various types of traditional food and drink came from, how they were prepared, etc. It was a lovely way to spend a morning and really engage the senses and connect with Athens on a gastronomic level.

Pretty Awful $55 spent for $0.00

Nothing to LIKE because your BIG ORANGE UMBRELLA WAS NOT VISIBLE IN FRONT OF STARBUCKS, NEAR THE METRO STATION stairs. I sent a msg to tour operator asking where are you? Where can i find you to meet? "Silence" on that morning, day of tour silence, and now yiu want a review? I want a full refund and explaination. No groups around following any umbrella or guides and I went into every corridor, market stall, coffee shop, local Taveras and grocery store in the Acropolis neighborhood looking for this group; asking if they had beeb through the markets. Never again will I use you to book in advance. This was during Coffee Exhibition: 3 days in the area with masses of tourists, travelers and overcrowding in the area under these popular ancient sites. No small wonder!

Neat cultural experience

This was a fun trip and very reasonable in price for what you get from it. Our guide Christi was great! She was fun, knowledgeable and very friendly. This was a great opportunity to get introduced to some of the more traditional parts of the city as well as more of the traditional food.

Authentic Food Adventure in Athens

Highly recommend ! One of the best things we did in Athens

We decided to book the private day tour and are SO glad we did!!! Some background on me. I am a vegetarian and my fiancé eats meat. Our guide was amazing finding us both options and showing us some great restaurants and off the beaten path ones to truly give us a taste of the city! Beware: COME HUNGRY! You will eat a lot so be prepared!!! Highly recommend for anyone trying to get a feel of the city and experience in a difference way.

Fabulous guide to match the wonderful food tour ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

There were 6 participants in total and we all clicked. Our guide, Christina, was charming, engaging, knowledgeable and simply fabulous. We visited a range of locations including an iconic Greek donut shop that served super strong a Greek coffee, fresh meat /seafood market, spice shop and olive oil & ouzo + mastica shop. There was no pressure to buy, yet we all bought something from each place. The cinnamon sticks were surprisingly delicious. The tour was so good that none of us wanted it to end. We all met later with our guide, Christina, at the most wonderful rooftop terrace bar that she had recommended and we watched the sunset and we had an awesome view of the Acropolis. I highly recommend this food tour with Chris. We all loved her and she made the tour fun, joyful and fabulous! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

New flavors and awesome tours

Eveline was such an awesome tour guide! We ended up having a private tour with her and for my first Food tour it was amazing. She was very knowledgeable and engaging. She was super friendly and we tried so many good foods that we never tasted before. The portions are good size so definitely come hungry.

Great food, good pace, just enough information to keep all ages happy...

We had a great time on this tour (6 of us). The food is fantastic, and diverse, and you get a nice walking tour of the area. Our guide was very engaging and kept a good pace so that even the younger ones in our group (who usually prefer to explore on their own) had a great time. I might have liked a little deeper explanation about the history of specific snacks or their relevance to daily life, but no one else in my group would have liked that so I'm 5-starring this one.

10/10 Highly Recommend!!

Delicious and so much fun!

Our favorite experience in Athens. A great opportunity to eat like a local and try a huge variety of Greek foods. We don't normally do tours but this is one where you really gain a lot of insight from having an expert guide you. Our host Evelina was absolutely delightful and very knowledgeable. A must do!
