


Previously known as Air Lanka SriLankan
Airlines is the national carrier of Sri Lanka. SriLankan
Airlines were the first in Asia to fly the Airbus A340 and the
first in South Asia to order the Airbus A330-200. SriLankan Airlines'
hub is at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) Colombo. SriLankan
Airlines has a partnership with Emirates and is also a part of
the Skywards frequent flyer programme.
Air Lanka was privatized in the year 1998
following the establishment of a partnership with Emirates Airline and
was re-christened as SriLankan Airlines. United Arab Emirates airline
holds 40% stake in the new company. Emirates contracted to undertake as
part of its commitment to Sri Lankan government the management of Air
Lanka for a 10-year period.
SriLankan Airlines' fleet consists of five
A340-300, and nine A330-200 aircrafts. Its Airlines presently flies to
49 destinations across Europe and Asia. In India, it has an extensive
network and flies to Delhi, Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Chennai,
Kozhikode, Tiruchirapalli, Mumbai, and Thiruvananthapuram.
