

Cathay Pacific Airways is a Hong Kong based international airline, offering scheduled cargo and
passenger services to over 90 destinations around the world. Cathay
Pacific is among the world's most profitable airline (net
profit) and largest airline by stock market value. American Roy C
Farrell and Australian Sydney H de Kantzow founded Cathay
Pacific Airways in Hong Kong on 24 September, 1946. The airline
was initially based in Shanghai and was later on moved to Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific initially operated flights on Manila, Bangkok, Singapore
and Shanghai.
Cathay Pacific Airways have been recognized for
setting the industry standard for service, winning more than 100 awards.
In 2005, Cathay Pacific Airways was voted "Airline of
the Year" in the world's largest passenger poll conducted by Skytrax
Research. This was followed by 'Airline of the Year 2006' by Air
Transport World magazine.
At the 2007 TTG Awards, Cathay
Pacific got the prestigious Airline of the Year honour as well
as being named Best North Asian Airline. The awards are voted for by
readers of TTG Asia and its various offshoots and are given to
"excellent organizations of the travel trade within the Asia Pacific
region that have shown strong commitment towards service excellence".
Recently Cathay Pacific was awarded 2007 Best Asia
Pacific Airline MRO Operation award at a ceremony in Shanghai.
